The Smith - Midtown
Delicious food; good portions. Creative plates and breakfast cocktails as well. We left full and happy. I also love the unisex bathrooms, probably one of the most progressive layouts I have seen.
As a "last dinner" eating out experience, it was tops.
Not the best experience at The Smith this time around - food and service were off today and hope to see them get back to their usually good level of both.
I think the smith is way to expensive for average food. We were also charged a fee for bringing an outside cake that was added to the bill without informing us. I ordered a burger and there was nothing special about it. Calamari almost taste a bit burned.
We were seated right away for our reservation and greeted promptly by our server. She was absolutely fantastic! She was definitely busy but were very well taken care of! She did not skip a beat. Food came out quickly and was delicious.
Our favorite new brunch spot when in the city. Food is delicious. Gluten free options for celiacs!! Just need to add gluten free breads and a need a separate toaster as well.
Always busy, very pleasant atmosphere.
We’ve been here 3 times in the past 3 months. The menu has a great variety so everyone can find something they like. We always have great service and The Smith has definitely become a staple. We haven’t tried dinner yet but we have reservations in a few months am I’m sure we won’t be disappointed.
Great food festive atmosphere
Lively place. Quality comfort food
A big noisy restaurants with mostly after-work, drinking types. I didn't find anything particularly good about it.
Love this place just so damn loud. Service was good
I had a business lunch for 5 and was able to book a reservation on short notice with no trouble. Although the venue is large and is open architecture, we were seated in a nice little nook where we were able to have comfortable conversations with very little noise from the surrounding guests. The service was quick and attentive. The food excellent, my server accommodated a vegan specific substitution without missing a beat! The squash rings are a must and were recommended by a friend who frequents the Smith. Will definitely come back for a quick, delicious meal.
Food was great! Service was exceptional! S’mores dessert was amazing!
Always a great time and great food at The Smith. The potato chips, gnocchi, short rib pasta and s’mores dessert - you just can’t go wrong.
trendy vibe, drinks, and food......................
Our waiter was very nice. He explained the specials and answered any questions about the dishes and their ingredients. I ordered the The Smith Steak and it was cooked right (Medium Rare). The price for drinks were a bit high but it is Manhattan so it was normal. Over all we had a great experience.
Came recommended to us by a local friend for our recent trip to NYC for a pre Met Opera dinner. I didn't realize there were 4 locations and made reservations for the first one that came up, MidTown location. Nevertheless, the service was perfect, the food was quite good, though I ordered the short rib special, and in the meantime, the neighboring table got the Braised Short Rib Cavatelli pasta dish, which smelled SOO GOOD, and was phenomenal according to them. My short rib was also good but not great, so I did have a bit of buyer's remorse for not picking the Cavatelli which was my first inclination. The Brick Pressed Chicken was also good, but not great. The Mac and Cheese was excellent, as was the Butternut Squash and Goat Cheese salad. Also, had a very good Mojito. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would go back again.
Rushed us out a little to pay the bill and weren’t as attending as expecting but it was very busy so it was understood. Food was good and cooked well.
I had the egg white omelet and it was absolutely fabulous! Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal!
You must order the Mac and cheese! But, be warned! It is very rich, but you won’t be able to stop eating.
Great place for lunch out of the office!
Must try the Mac & cheese, cod and grilled chicken sandwich!
Oysters and clams on the 1/2 shell were great
Superb; never disappoints
We made a reservation and we’re seated immediately. Our waiter was very attentive, made suggestions and let us set our pace for the meal. This was our third time at this restaurant and we will continue to go when we are in town for business staying nearby.
One of our favorite places for brunch
Such a cute brunch spot with options for everyone! Just make sure to make a reservation or you will be waiting about an hour.
It was REALLY loud. Difficult to hear my date. Not a good spot if you want to be able to speak freely with your companions. I haven't noticed this to be the case with the other The Smith locations further downtown.
The Smith is always consistently good. Good food, good service, and affordable
Had a wonderful experience. Food and service was super. Had a college reunion and ended up chatting at the table for much longer than originally planned-our server did not push us to wrap it up and kept refilling our water glasses to keep us comfortable! A little noisy and warm at times, but the food and service made up for it. Would definitely return anytime!
Great location for Saturday brunch. They never disappoint.
It was good as usual. I took my niece for breakfast since she enjoyed dinner there. Service was good but it could have been cleaner. Table wasn’t wiped off properly & none of the staff (hostess, bus, server) noticed.
Food was delicious! Well at least mine and my friends dish. Our other friend and my boyfriend got the pot pie and both weren’t dissatisfied by the preparation of the dish so a little pricey to not be completely content with the food.
I always forget how rude the front desk is at this chain. It's odd because the wait staff is always great and the food amazing but yet they hire and tolerate the rudest girls imaginable l.
Good food and help. Nice place!
We ordered a wide variety of the menu offerings and all were delicious! Our server was knowledgeable, delightful and very responsive. The hostess was grumpy. It was a great experience overall and I recommend The Smith-Midtown!
We really enjoyed ourselves and had it not been for the server, it would have rated 5 stars overall. You could tell he was only interested in raising the guest check as high as he could with no true interest in guest satisfaction. Pushed the sea bass (which was delicious) as though it was a chilean sea bass, and when I received it I realized it was a European/Mediterranean Sea Bass. Very different fish although I was happy to keep it. When I mentioned it to him he became condescending and stopped his service. Won't hold it against the restaurant, everyone else did a great job.
Love The Smith. Food is always solid. Bit loud but that’s what you get in NYC.
the seasonal wild mushroom bucatini dish is to die for. ambiance was great -- there were somewhat quieter nooks in the restaurant, and our waiter made great suggestions for our meals. food was served super quickly and was amazing
I had a business lunch on a holiday Monday. My guest ordered the rare tuna salad and I had the moules frites. She really enjoyed the salad. The mussels should have been better seasoned, but the fries were perfect. The noise level was extremely high.
Food was great! Everyone enjoyed it. Service was great and we didn’t have to wait at all.
The food was excellent! The service was great! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal. The prices were fair and reasonable!
