The Smith- Lincoln Square
Book your next event with us
We both got sandwiches and they were terrific. We were seated promptly and the service was very good.
It was great!
Since we had tickets to Lincoln Center we had three different appetizers, hummus, mac and cheese and fries. Also ordered was calamari and short ribs. All were prepared deliciously. The cocktails including the Punch were also worth the wait.
We chose the Smith for its proximity to Lincoln Square and liked it so much that we visited the Midtown location the following day for brunch. The Smith offers a wide range of choices and price points on their menu. We ordered three entrees: mussels and fries; salmon over shiitake mushrooms and cabbage; and chicken with spinach and garlic potatoes. Each was excellent. We will return when we come back to NYC. Thanks for a great meal and fantastic service.
We really enjoyed our dinner at The Smith! We ate there before a play at Lincoln Center. The place is lively and a little noisy but we didn’t mind. I wouldn’t say this is a good spot for a romantic dinner, however. The service was excellent. The food choices were great and the food quality was excellent. We’d definitely go again!
Food was good.
Surprised nothing put on table like most restaurants ( bread, olives etc.)
it was tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo loud
The food is super tasty and it comes on well served portions. The place is very noisy, but if you don’t mind that, you will have a great experience.
Their chiefs guarantee that no matter which venue, the taste of all selections is always extraordinary. Tried the hamburger for the first time..it was off the charts..juicy, cooked perfectly, wonderful add ons and of course...the fries are to die for.
Come early...stay late
I have eaten here 3 times for brunch and lunch. Food is good but noise level is pretty high. Don't go if you want intimate. But service is excellent and accommodating. I asked for something not on the menu and they made it, exactly to my liking.
This is by far the worst of the Smiths...
Very very loud, bad to worse service and obnoxious ambience.
I will travle to midtown next time I want to Smith...
A very lovely place with good service and great food. We loved the Mac and cheese appetizer and all the entrees were a perfect size.
Overall I had a pleasant experience at The Smith-Lincoln Center, enhanced by a friendly group of people at a neighboring table. My rating is affected by the price of the dinner which I found a bit too costly for the food I ate.
There are a few things that made our experience less than pleasant that The Smith should be mindful of. First, when it's crowded, please don't put make-shift tables/seating for us in uncomfortable, noisy, unattractive areas, especially when we've made a reservation. We had to ask to be moved, twice. Second, when we received our cappuccinos, they were cold. Instead of the server taking care of the issue, she said she'd talk to the manager. Eventually she brought out luke-warm drinks.
Excellent service and food!! Staff was friendly and courteous.
Excellent helpful staff and great wine list. Good people watching too.
My bartender (didn’t catch his name) was outstanding and made excellent cocktails.
Great atmosphere, great service, and excellent food!
the choice of food was great. the food and service were excellent, the whole experience was ruined by the noise level. it was awful. didn't order dessert or coffee. could not wait to get out of the restaurant.
Staff was great, food was excellent!
Located across from Lincoln Center which was perfect since we were seeing a show at Lincoln Center.
I would highly recommend the Smith and would definitely go back
The Smith tends to be on the loud side and last night's dinner was case in point / no exception despite it being a Monday night. Food was fresh; wait staff met standards was knowledgeable about the menu and did not try to get chummy or show too much "friendliness". For this price point and ambiance in the area, it's on par with P.J. Clarke's. I opted for The Smith because there were more meal options for my vegan-penchant palate. I have experienced sub-par staff at both locations: "I'm above that" waiter attitude at P.J. Clarke's and pure neglect at a group drinks at The Smith. Both establishments leave something to be desired.
This is the cafe of choice, especially when attending Lincoln Centre, as we did for the MET. It is quick and the food is lovely, with exceptional service. What more do you need?
Good hearty food. Was quite noisy so difficult to hear my fellow diners. Service was good and friendly. Good value for money.
This is a real gem, conveniently located right across the street from Lincoln Center. There are plenty of tables outside for dining in nice weather, and the inside is very New York, with subway tiled walls, tin ceilings, and lovely woodwork. They are open from early morning until late night, so you can grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The atmosphere is lively, and although there was plenty of background noise from the other diners, conversation at our table was easy.
The food is outstanding, and that makes the prices even more reasonable than just looking at a menu. We went for lunch, and there is a great selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, and entrees. We started with a fantastic caesar salad - fresh lettuce, authentic house-made dressing, and a parmesan crisp topping that was so much better than croutons. I had cavatelli, which was obviously made fresh, with a braised short rib ragu that was better than any meat sauce I've ever had, and simply has to be experienced. My wife ordered the Smith Burger, which she described as the best burger she has ever had. It arrived cooked perfectly to order, was more than generous in size, and was deliciously topped with thin-sliced pickles, crisp fried onions, and a sauce that makes ketchup superfluous. Desserts were also delicious - we sampled the flourless chocolate cake, smothered in ice cream and whipped cream, and topped with a wonderful fudge sauce. The raspberry-rhubarb pie was fresh and tasty, and also topped with ice cream.
I just can't recommend this restaurant strongly enough.
Great spot, save room for dessert
The food was delicious. We must visit again!
Any restaurant that can manage prompt seating, creative and high quality food as well as excellent service on Mothers Day deserves 5 stars! Thanks for a great brunch!
I had guests who'd just flown in from Colombia, and The Smith ended up being the perfect first evening out for my South American friends, as the food and especially the service were exemplary. Our server was friendly, informative, helpful and fun, and it made our dining experience absolutely wonderful. Couldn't ask for better. Thank you for a great night.
Good food, quick service (high turnover), pricey and noisy inside.
Good food and service but busy and noisy
I would still go back
Delicious food and great service. Never disappoints!
Wonderful service, decent portions for the price, great tasting food. Would definitely recommend!
Perfect open air atmosphere for a warm spring night. Delicious fare on a casual night out with friends. Generous portion of Tuna Tartare was perfect and could have been my whole dinner, but was nicely complemented by the variety of goodies in the Sugar Snap Pea Salad. My friend raved over the Bibimbap. Service was very friendly, and nailed the details. I look forward to going back and diving deeper into the menu.
Wonderful location, nice ambiance and good food, but OH MY GOSH THIS PLACE IS SO LOUD! Impossible to have a conversation without yelling which just contributes to the overall noise level! The table behind us, the people were SCREAMING at each other! They need to somehow create separated areas, or hang curtains between booths, anything to create an illusion of intimacy so people with STHU.
Good food at fair prices across from Lincoln Center. However, the noise level is deafening.
good for pre-lincoln center meal. crowded, loud, fun. food is solid if a little overpriced.
It was absolutely fabulous. Food, ambiance, wait person (Alexa)—all wonderful. The only negative would be the noise level inside. We sat outside primarily for that reason. Fortunately, the heat lamps kept us comfortable.
Another great dinner at The Smith!
Reliable pre performance meal but the ambient noise level is ridiculous. Not a good choice for anyone trying to have meaningful conversation during a meal - or hear your table mates at all.not for the low talker.
The Smith is always a go-to place prior to Lincoln Center events. The food is consistently very good and the service is excellent. There are lots of shareable starters and their delicious salads can be ordered as dinner portions. Sometimes it is just m partner and me and it is also great for groups.
