We had an excellent dinner —- even went back next day for lunch!
Went the night of the Big snow storm (3/21), we got to the restaurant a half hour early, and had no problem with seating. Perfect spot for dining before shows at Lincoln Center. Our waitress was lovely and so was the front desk. Will definitely go back. Tuna Tartare was delicious, the Fried chicken was the nights special and was just ok, better choices on menu!
Very attentive waiter, kept refilling our waters and was patient when we didn’t leave right away. Everything we ordered was fresh, well made and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes prior to my reservation which was at 6:30pm. I was told that I could not be seated until all 3 people in my party were at the restaurant. We were all there by 6:35pm and I informed the hostess and also informed her that we were going to the theatre. We were not seated until at least 6:50 so we had to rush to order and the kitchen was very busy so when our food finally arrived we had to eat in a hurry. The waiter was very nice and I have no complaints about him. We got to the theatre just before the lights went out. It was not a very enjoyable meal and I will not be returning again when I have tickets to the theatre.
Delicious brunch & coffee. The berries were very fresh. Enjoyed the food & attentive service & look forward to our next visit. #kwSiko
Seated immediately on our reservation time. Very friendly service and great food.
Bustling environment. Perfect for after theater meals.
We appreciated how attentive the waiter and manager were to my daughter's allergies. The food was decent, especially the steak and the fries. The restaurant was extremely crowded. Not comfortable seating; you're right on top of the table(s) next to you. Service was speedy. Great location for a quick, although not cheap, meal before/after a Lincoln Center performance.
The place was very busy when we arrived as there was a half marathon event that had just finished, yet are reservation was honored with 5 minutes of our scheduled time. Everyone working there made great efforts to make our experience a good one! Cheers to THE SMITH
I love the Smith for brunch! It's a bit noisy, but we like that with our baby... Nice din acts as white noise. The food is always good... And they take reservations!
Great food, fun
Food was very good and the service was outstanding. Overall, a good restaurant with a varied menu for a reasonable price-point. The walls are completely covered in subway tile. From an aesthetic standpoint, it sort of feels like a bathhouse, which is not my personal taste. Also, the tile walls reflect every sound in the place and on a busy night, it's very difficult to have a conversation at a normal tone of voice. Very noisy. If you're with an energetic group; great. If you're looking for a quiet conversation over a meal; not so good.
Came for a pre-theater meal. Seated quickly because we had a reservation. Menu choices are standard type pub fare. Had the tuna salad and the special paella. Both were excellent. Ordered the birthday cake desert which comes with a candle so we had to make a wish.
Seating is tight but this is a busy place on the west side.
Fabulous as usual. ❤️
Good food and service but it was very busy and therefore quite noisy. Need to book.
Too loud and too crowded for me. The food and service were good, but not good enough to outweigh the noise and right table spacing.
Pre theatre booking on a very busy Friday night. Service was efficient and pleasant and the food was tasty and came out of the kitchen in good time even for such a busy night. We were seated in the back room, which I didn't even know existed from first glance through the front doors. Buzzy fun dinner for a pre theatre option.
All in all a great dinner and enjoyable meal however charging $40 for a carafe of house wine which in reality was the size of a vinegar bottle is pretty lame effort of amping up beverage profits and gouging well paying customers.
Great burgers. Helpful, friendly and warm staff. Casual atmosphere. No one rushed us or kept us waiting. Was a perfect stop before hitting Lincoln Center. Thanks!
Bustling, tasty and charming meal before the Opera
Good but way to loud
Good food and service. Very noisy space
Tasty and fast. Make a reservation for Sunday brunch.
Food definitely exceeded expectations! Sooo good
Waitress was very good.
Went for brunch on Saturday morning, March 10th.
We had the cinnamon brioche pull-apart, French toast & eggs Benedict. Everything was delicious & the service was good!
Great place. Busy place but great service.
Amazing pancakes and french toast. Great tea. Awesome bathroom.
Breakfast today was absolutely lovely. Ordered simple breakfast and received exactly what was ordered straightaway. Service was excellent. Presentation was perfect. Everything worked well and supported a delightful birthday breakfast between friends.
IT IS WHAT IT IS. SIMPLE GOOD FOOD AND GREAT PLACE TO DINE BEFORE GOING TO LINCOLN CENTER. WAITER WAS GREAT. DRINKS ARE OVERPRICED. GREAT MAC AND CHEESE, QUALITY AND QUANTITY.
Our server was exceptional. She was very helpful and answered all of our questions.
Was in town to attend the taping of some shows at ABC studios. I did a quick search online for places close by to eat and The Smith was on top of the list with great reviews. I liked the menu and invited a friend to join me for brunch after the show had wrapped. I enjoyed my brunch there so much that I went again a few days later for lunch and the experience was top par! The food was incredibly delicious and the found the wait staff attentive and friendly. There was no long wait for the food either.
I definitely give 5 stars to the chef and everything that works there. What a great team and a delightful experience!
This is my favorite restaurant in my neighborhood! The food is outstanding but I am going to focus on the beverages. I am not a native New Yorker so the fact that most places didn't refill my iced tea shocked me when I came to NYC. The Smith DOES refill drinks and their tea is delicious every single time!!
Made a reservation for 1:30, was only able to sit at 2:15 (and it was only 2 of us, can only imagine how long it took them to sit larger parties). Insanely crowded, only 2 hosts to deal with probably 20 customers who’d been waiting for quite some time. They need to plan their bookings better, specially during brunch.
I hate when a restaurant over books and they are known for it even if the food is good it’s a reasonably ridiculous the way that they allow people that have reservations to sit there and wait shame on you
This place is the embodiment of greed. It has a horribly managed front of house. We had a reservation and did not get seated for 15 minutes after the reservation time. The late seating was the result of the place trying to accommodate walk ins on top of an extensive reservation list. The food was fine, though not amazing. Service was good, but they had way too many tables/chairs in the place, so one of our group was constantly being bumped by wait staff as she found her seat too far in their serving path. The noise level was deafening, so don’t bother trying to converse with your table mate not seated next to you. The staff was doing the best they could to make up for a horrible manager/owner intent on packing the most customers in the joint as possible. There are too many options to put up with this nonsense.
This is a very popular brunch location and the food was excellent. However, it was so busy that it was almost hard to enjoy — very loud and crowded.
The food was very good and the service was efficient. We had the halibut and salmon, both were very good and done correctly. It was pre theater for us so we appreciated the quick service. As always the noise level was far too high. It is was keeps us from eating here more often.
