The food and service were both amazing (as is the wine selection)! My absolute only complaint is that the seats were not very comfortable..

Outside part of restaurant is great! Very good wait staff. Breakfast menu is lame compared to other times of day. First experience will be last. NOISE for business breakfast was just impossible.

Good standard neighborhood restaurant to meet friends and/or colleagues. Accommodates large groups which is a plus. Reliable and good food; ambience and staff. Definitely recommend.

The food is always good and the service is always accommodating. Portions are large so we usually split a bunch of dishes. Don't miss the fried chicken or the pot pie.

Was seated directly next to loud kitchen and busser section. There should not even be a table there, it was that loud and there was that much foot traffic. Totally distracting and unpleasant environment.

With so many outstanding restaurants in New York, we are seduced at the thought of The Smith returning over and over and over, for dinner and brunch. Food is always consistent. Always. Rest assured that the blend of flavors with the food is so pleasing that as full as you may be when you leave, you will start to plan your return. Our only criticism is the noise level which can over power the experience so we do our best to block it out - it's challenging to converse without saying "what" repeatedly to servers and dining companions. Maybe The Smith will do something engineering wise to over come the ringing-in-your-ears noise level.

I really enjoy eating at The Smith as the food and service is consistently good. I had the roast chicken which was delicious and enough to bring home for a second meal. My husband's pot of mussels was excellent and he enjoyed the whole pot. Of course their fries are amazing and plentiful. Out server and the helpers were friendly and super efficient. Very noisy and energetic.

came here on a recent day trip to NYC. Its far enough from the hustle and bustle of Times Square but still very New York-esque. Loved the heated outdoor seating. Also a short walk to Central Park. Our server was very charismatic. The seating is tight in areas, but not uncomfortable. Overall it was a good experience, will be returning.

Good food, noisy/ energetic/ friendly/ a bit crowded.
I was initially told over the phone that our 2:00 reservation for four could NOT be changed to accommodate five diners. We showed up 20 minutes early anyway, crossing our fingers and hoping the chilly phone response ("NO: we are just too busy to add another seat to your table") was not firm. On arrival we were greeted and informed: “No problem! Give us about twenty minutes (remember we were early).” Nice meal. I’d go back, especially if I had tickets to a Lincoln Center performance.

Once we got past the rude & dismissive front desk person, we actually had a great time. The seating was a bit cramped but we made due. The food was amazing. Lots of interesting choices especially small bites & apps. Our server was fantastic. He was very attentive in spite of it being a very busy time. Drinks were replenished at a good pace & food was served hot & delicious. I will definitely return to The Smith.

My wife and I went to Smith's before a concert. Everything on menu (plus specials) was enticing. Top notch service with smiles on a busy Friday night. We ordered one dessert but had trouble deciding and the restaurant/waitress brought us both. (I preferred the apple pie, my wife the pumpkin) Both great. Definitely going here the next time we are in Lincoln Center area

After discovering Josephina closed, we decided to give The Smith a try before a concert at Lincoln Center. So happy we did. Very good food. We had app's, salads and a side order of brussel sprouts which were delicious. Service was quick and friendly. An overall good experience. We would definitely go back.

Loved the Halloween themed customs that all the staff were wearing. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, specials and wine. My fiance and I were hosting two friends and we wanted to take them to a place with a convivial service and atmosphere. The Smith was our first choice, as is always the case in this type of situations. I specially enjoyed the Mondays special of crispy pork roast. The roasted tomato soup was a winner as always. Great job folks!

The Smith is consistently good. They don't make you wait til your entire party is present to seat you. They offer complimentary sparkling and tap water on the table. It's lovely to eat outside and people watch under the heat lamps if it's chilly. It's a restaurant where you never feel out of place if you're dining alone and you don't have to speak softly if you're with a crowd.

Our reservation was for 1:00pm and we weren't seated until 1:25pm. The person handling reservations was doing an incredible job but was obviously overwhelmed by the number of confirmed reservations and walk-ins.

We really like the American diner cuisine and nouveau cuisine offered here. There is something for everybody, it is well-prepared and the servers know what they are doing. It is certainly convenient for Lincoln Center events. It is casual and easy and staff are generally friendly. There is only one misgiving that I have: IT IS VERY NOISY!

Food was awful. It was cold and overcooked. Even the French fries were cold. :(

I've been here before and it was decent, but I was highly disappointed this time and will not recommend or attend again.

We arrived on time, but were not seated until 15 minutes after our reservation time. And then we were seated near the door on a cold, drafty night. Obviously, moving tables was not an option. The hostess was incredibly rude and dismissive. Finally, they were packing them in so tight that a woman knocked my water over onto my plate as she was being seated. They offered me a new dinner, but since I was nearly (but not quite) done, I declined. So they comped the meal, which was nice. But I would have preferred to simply finish eating. Don't know why this place is so popular. The food is quite mediocre, and it is loud and crowded.
