Enjoyed sitting in the outdoor space. Very comfortable and not too cold.
The table we were given was right next to the part of the kitchen where all the used plates, forks, knives, and spoons are dumped. The noise level is loud and makes it impossible to have a normal conversation. That table needs to be eliminated. There were plenty of other tables free when we arrived and we had a reservation too! Never again.
I only recently started eating at the Smith’s now this is my go to place to eat..
Always one of the best!!!
Great Manhattans, nice new fried carrot stick apps to nibble on (they almost make the sweet memory of the tempura string beans disappear) and solid fare for main courses all around - lots of veggie options now, including the fantastic squash schnitzel! Fun service without being sophomoric. Always a great option for many years, always glad we went.
It was a good experience! We enjoyed ourselves.
Always a great experience. Menu has something for everyone. Come in…..you won’t be disappointed.
The is a perfect restaurant for the neighborhood since it caters to opera goers as well as any person attending any performance at Lincoln Center. There is something on the menu for everyone and the wait staff are attentive to diet issues and attention is given to allergies or any other dietary requirements. Good liquor and wine selections that are priced well.
always excellent All around
My daughter and I enjoyed late lunch after seeing the Nutcracker. I enjoyed a salad and she had the burger with fries. The warm chocolate chip cookies for dessert were the cherry on top!
Apple cider pancakes were a hit. They changed the shrimp and grits recipe. Still good but beware that it is quite different than before.
well, what could be better than those blistered shishito peppers and then an order of mac and cheese...i try to vary my order, but cannot escape getting those two items..just amazing...
When we got there we were given a table by the door keep in mind the temperature was below 20 degrees. We asked to be move and they did . The table was better but it was still cold . The waiter was a nice lady , we drank our water and never got a refill . We ask for our drinks and my sitter order a glass of wine and it was given to her in a small water or whiskey glass not sure what to call it. I order the chicken and there was no flavor. My niece and sister both order fries and one order of fries was burn, they did replace but by them she didn’t want any more. The manager did can an apologize but it was not taken out of the bill. The only thing we enjoy was the dessert. Overall I don’t recommend this place . This has been my second time going to the Smiths and it will be my last.
Food is always great. We had an awesome waitress. What a serious and efficient staff.
Met my couple friends here - the food was delicish especially their brunch menu across the street from Starbucks.
Not a great place to have dinner, it may be okay for Brunch. We were a party of 5 and most people were dissatisfied with the food. In addition to that, the restaurant was noisy. Not a great experience.
Having been to many restaurants in the last several weeks that didn’t make me feel like I was an inconvenience and a disease vector, it was rather surprising and just annoying that, in implementing what it perceives to be the current protocols, The Smith has allowed its staff (especially the host/front of house) to become rude, disdainful, and obsessed with inane concepts (someone standing up who has been eating for 2 hours unmasked does not suddenly cause a new risk and need to be rudely chastised for not immediately strapping a diaper to his face to leave the restaurant). It is true that none of the required protocols are any restaurant’s fault, and I have argued that they shouldn’t be responsible for things like checking cards (the city should’ve hired a person for every restaurant whose only job is that). But the ones who manage to do it without berating and alienating customers are the ones I want to go to. The rudeness continued as I was seated, and weird things were simply forgotten and it was impossible to get a waiter at times. Very disappointing that Smith hasn’t bothered to implement things without staff hating me for showing up.
food was good as always but the main floor was FREEZING such that diners & servers all wore their puffy coats. surely there should be an advantage to eating "inside"??
The Mac N’ Cheese was good. All the other food items were below average.
Great evening. Steak, "Smoke Em if You got Em" margarita and chocolate cake were particularly good.
Got us out in time to see opera. Looking forward to next visit.
Too cold. Need something to block the air that was blowing in from outside.
Other than that, a wonderful time was had by all.
Arrived on time, seated accordingly. Ordered drinks, appetizers, and dinner. All very good. The waiters were on time and kind. Seemingly the covid protocol has been calmed a bit. I wasnt told to keep my mask on and the restaurant was filled with people sitting next to me. Although I can do without the threat of being sick , I wish the social distancing was kept to an extent. Do we really need to pack everyone in so tightly? Is it worth it?
They were very rushed on Thanksgiving and food was cooked then reheated and sides you could surely tell . Spilled glass of wine in lap, served wrong order and just too many little issues for quality and price of meal to be rated well
My fiancé and I are visiting NYC from Chicago and decided to spend our Thanksgiving evening at The Smith.
We’re certainly glad we did.
The food was great, as was the ambiance, but the main reason for our loving it was our server, Moo.
My fiancé has a number of food allergies and Moo was very understanding and took great care to make sure he was safe. Moo was attentive, kind, fun, generous, and an all around WONDERFUL server. He was certainly the finest server we’ve had in NYC and we were both commenting that he was one the finest we’ve maybe ever had!
I waited tables in NYC on Thanksgiving a decade ago and I can tell you it’s not easy. Guests can be extra entitled and, in the end, it’s just tough to be working instead of being off like everyone else. Moo had such a wonderful attitude about it all though and you could tell he genuinely enjoyed making people’s holiday brighter.
We plan on going back to The Smith on our next visit to NYC and our hope is that we’ll have the opportunity to sit with Moo again!!
Nice of them to be opened on Thanksgiving so we can celebrate even though we are away from home!
We were super surprised by how good this Thanksgiving dinner was! Service was amazing, and the food was delicious, felt like a home made meal, and for a great price. Both turkey dishes were extremely good, desserts weren't as special but decent. Great experience and will definitely come back to celebrate Thanksgiving with them!
Thanksgiving at The Smith was one for the books. The food was outstanding - but it always is there. Service was impeccable, great setting, a wonderful night all around. I would definitely come back for a holiday meal again!
Wonderful restaurant with an excellent choice of food and very tasty cocktails.
Bravo on serving a well paced, delicious and warm Thanksgiving dinner!! We were 4 plus a baby, positioned smartly and promptly..
i congratulate everyone involved!
I think a start of a new family tradition
We wished the outdoor option would have been more open, or also required vax cards, But everything else was magnificent! It was a great Thanksgiving dinner!
The food was very good, too much for me to eat! The service was a bit slow, but it was Thanksgiving dinner so it was quite crowded!
Terrific Thanksgiving meal. Great food. Excellent service.
Muy buen servicio
Big operation but runs nicely and the food is very good. The salmon appetizer was divine. Mussels and Bar steak great.
excellent place to dine before a Lincoln center event.. good covid prosesses, good food, service that is helpful..
Perfect bistro night out. Food and service were really great
The Smith is a long-time favorite in our family — and always the place we like to take out of town guests for a lively, New York-y experience.
It took some time before a server arrived at our table. Once we placed our order everything went really smoothly. I feel that the amount of fries that accompanied my veggie burger, was way too much: I couldn't find my burger on the plate.
Cocktails were great, food was okay, server was friendly. Conveniently located across the Metropolitan Opera.
Very loud and cold
The wait staff gets my biggest call out for their amazing service. Kind, attentive, just wonderful. The food, well it's the Smith - always tasty.
