   We love this Smith location, but yesterday's experience wasn't great. The waitperson disappeared for long stretches and was generally distracted and unfriendly. Just getting the check felt like I was burdening him terribly. Also we order a beer that sat on the bar for 20 minutes and I had to get up and ask the hosts if someone could bring it to our table so we could enjoy it with our food. Then the food wasn't up to their usual standards. My eggs Benedict were cold as were the potatoes that came with it. I couldn't get anyone's attention so it was what it was. I know it was busy while we were there, but that isn't a great excuse...it's always busy there.

   So I had a reservation for 1:45 and we didn’t get seated till 1:55 now you would think the waiter would come right over to greet us but no. It took another 7 minutes for the waiter to get to us and it was like he was rushing us. We didn’t feel comfortable at all. We then ordered our apps and mains and that took another 12 minutes to come out so mind you we didn’t get our apps till over 30 minutes after our reservation. This was a very bad job on the Smith. Waiter didn’t even ask us if we wanted to order drinks. He had to be one of the worst waiters we’ve ever had. Then after we finished our food we had to wait another 15 minutes to get our check. Seems like the managers at this Smith restaurant has some work to do with their staff. We were so disappointed in them.

   We came to Lincoln Square to see Floyd Collins and stumbled upon The Smith. It was crowded which in our opinion was a good sign! Well, it was wonderful! Great ambiance, excellent service and outstanding food. If you have a chance to order the Mac and cheese app. in a skillet… DO! It was the best we ever had. In our party, we enjoyed everything we ordered. The short ribs were amazing, as was the The Smith burger and penne. The fries were also some of the best! You won’t be disappointed stopping here if you are seeing something at Lincoln Center. It’s right across the street!

   It’s a really nice place and I liked the modified out reservation and still found us an indoor spot to seat. We had to eat quick so didn’t have much time to enjoy but the place was crowded and our waiter was really nice and attentive.

   Had a lovely dinner date with my wife prior to attending an opera at The Met. We both had The Smith Bar Steak special. My wife subbed spinach for brussel sprouts and I subbed garlic mashed potatoes for the fries. Steaks were fabulous and cooked perfectly. Sides were awesome. We also split the double shot brownie sundae. Sat outside in a covered area. Service was excellent. Would go back without hesitation!

   As always, the food is delicious. Tried something new this time, the roast beef dip sandwich. Great service as always. Just wish the noise level inside was a little less loud.

    Very crowded and noisy for Saturday brunch. However, I returned for the food which is exceptional. I had the Benedict Johnny and every element of it was perfect. It filled me for the rest of the day. Server was friendly and efficient. Other members of my family had the breakfast sandwich and eggs alla vodka and raved about their food as well.
