Great vibe- good food- great service! We always make time to come here when we visit the city from west coast
Wow the butternut squash schnitzel totally blew me away. If it’s on the menu, get it! Fries were great, but I don’t think I really needed it. My wife got the rigatoni and it was delicious as well. The calamari was *chef’s kiss* good. I honestly thought about ordering another plate of it.
It was so nice to see people out and having a good time again. Food is always good at The Smith and what a gorgeous evening to be dining outdoors!
Way too noisy outside. Service good. Food very nice.
The Smith has become my go-to choice when dining before a performance at Lincoln Center. The food is delicious, the service is prompt and courteous, and the location is perfect.
Love The Smith. Good food, great service, so convenient to Lincoln Center.
Just a great outdoor spot to meet friends for lunch - waitstaff could not be nicer or more professional- food is always good and service is great. It is always just a lovely experience to dine there.
We came after a special opera event!
food and service were Fine. Noise level was terrible
good place for a meal before a show.. lively, tasty, and fun..
We ate outside. Service was prompt . Food was good.
Service was impressively efficient. Food and drink at an excellent price and value. Unusual offerings available on the menue.
We’d like to rate our experience as 4.5 rather than 4.0. We ate on the patio, which accommodated several tables divided by plexiglass to provide a safe eating environment. We had a 5:15 reservation and were seated promptly. Our server was excellent and very pleasant. The selection of wines by the glass was broad, and the Smith offers still or bubbly water on the house. One of us chose the butternut squash schnitzel, which was scrumptious. The branzino, cashews, and black rice with coconut curry sauce was very good. The honey crisp apple pie was tasty though the crust was overly dry and the accompanying ice cream didn’t taste much like bourbon. We would definitely return in advance of events at Lincoln Center, which is across the street.
We dined outside at a table separated from other diners by a glow glass shield. We could easily hear others' conversations--especially the small child at the table in front of ours and the children at the table next to ours. The outside tables filled up quickly; it's a good thing that I was on time to claim my outside table as others requested sitting outside who had not reserved an outside table. The weather was nippy and cloudy but that was no fault of the restaurant. Service was efficient (by way of servers and bus-men) and pleasant enough. But the food was not as we had requested. My companion had pasta and I had the salmon for our main course. Neither arrived piping hot as I had requested. Pasta especially should be steaming hot, as should the fish I had ordered especially hot. I would say the plates were hotter than the food, and not even the plates were hot. The bread and butter came in a tiny tray with one dab of butter for the two of us. The bread was neither hot nor especially fresh--just crusty. Very disappointing dining experience...especially for a restaurant that was so crowded.
We go to The Smith all the time and continue to enjoy! Such a great east spot and the brunch menu was awesome. Wish you still had the yummy biscuits though😉
Great staff, great food, great location. See you again soon.
Great food, a really comfortable outside seating environment all close to Lincoln Center. A very reliable place to meet friends for lunch, always enjoy myself here.
This is a great restaurant in a location which is convenient to many exciting sights in Manhattan (Lincoln Center anyone?). I had reserved an outdoor table and it was ready on time. Their outdoor space is huge and they were careful to keep tables spaced apart. I definitely felt safe from COVID. Our server was very good and masked throughout. It looked like they were enforcing the proof of vaccine rule to eat/drink inside (as they should). Overall, I would say this is a good choice for the area in terms of quality of food, service, etc. Prices are fair. It can be noisy whether you sit inside or out but some might see that as energetic and a good thing.
The entire experience was great! We loved it! Fabulous time!
Food good, service, good! Family of four including two small children needing a laid back lunch at a neighborhood place and we got it. All happy here!
The outdoor space is perfect--you are very protected from the weather, street traffic, and cars. Tables are well spaced from each other, The food is excellent--we loved the brussels sprouts, salads, and fries. Best of all was the terrific, friendly, helpful, and charming service. Our server (and helpers) could not have been more delightful--what a treat to be so well taken care of. We will, of course, return. Thanks to all.
Arrived half hour earlier than our reservation but they were very accommodating and sat us immediately after the proof of vaccination . While only two of us dining we were seated at a table for four giving us ample room and the non obtrusive plexiglass Parton made us feel as if we had a private booth. Wait staff was very good, bottles of plain and sparkling water provided and drink orders taken quickly.
We both had identical meals, I guess after 40+ years of marriage that happens. For starters we split a order of the Crispy Sesame Calamari. Just the right amount of light breading and crispy but not chewy. The honey apple and goat cheese salad was excellent. The Red Chili Aloi was just spicy enough to enjoy without being overwhelming. Filet Mignon was tender and prepared perfectly temperature wise. While choice for sides was limited to French fries or jalapeños cheddar grits we went with the fries. Would have liked to have seen other options. We finished with the honey apple crisp apple pie ala mode a cappuccino and a mocha. Overall an excellent experience
Brought two out of town friends here for Brunch. We had an incredible experience, as usual.
Fun setting, delicious food, great time. Thank you for a fantastic experience.
Steve our server was great! The food at The Smith never disappoints! I had the shrimp and grits and it was delish!! Thanks!!
The best grits in town... John M. is a great bartender...
Would have been 5star for food, except dessert was not as good as the rest of the meal. Ordered apple crisp and wasn’t nearly the quality of the other items .
They do an amazing job of serving many people efficiently!
Will return !
The service was quick, attentive and the food was quite tasty. The ambiance outside was relatively low key but the inside dining sounded noisy. The cost wasn't overpriced for the size of the portions.
We were seat way I the back and it was dark and noisy. The oysters were exceptional and service was good, but space was not conducive to visiting with old friends.
Great ADA access 💜 amazing server can’t ask for more 💜
Wonderful lunch, just like pre-COVID times. Excellent service, as well.
Wish they would have told us that we booked on the DAY the menu changed. Wife and I were bringing my grandparents for some lobster rolls all around. Would have been a much better time had we been notified of the menu change. Love the Smith with all my heart but that was a super lame surprise:(
Thanks for bringing back the best salad in the city! The kale and quinoa salad!
Excellent dining option In the lincoln center area.. good food, sensible covid precautions ..knowledgable wait staff
Dined a number of times here. Consistently a good place to eat.
Food was great. Manhattan cocktail tasted like cherry soda. Sent it back.
Great food cool inside, some woman charged her phone right next to our table when we sat down. Kind of weird but didn’t last long.
The food was great. The service was great. It was nice to have the partitions between the tables, both for COVID reasons and because it meant you didn't have to worry about putting your purse on the bench seat. It's noisy, but you don't mind it after a while. They're a well-oiled machine.
We had a reservation at 11:30am but arrived 20 min. early and were seated immediately. Very nice and much appreciated.
