Everyone at The Smith was very friendly, and the food was very good! Great place for a post-theater meal!
This is way too busy and camped. It’s a decent neighborhood spot but every time I have been there I feel like we’re cramped into a table and it feel like we’re in a sardine can. The food is ok not great.
Birthday, I notified through App. But nothing happened😂 No special event for my friend who was on birthday
The noise in this restaurant was unbearable. We had to eat outside even though it was in the 90’s, it was better than the noise. Food was good, but not great. Egg white omelette was like warm - cheese was bare melted, spinach over cooked. Egg whites tasted almost like hard boiled eggs. Server kept forgetting things and was hard to find.
Gnocchi and salmon were the bomb! Super friendly service
Food was good and service was great too. But frankly a bit too noisy to have a conversation there.
The servers were very kind and professional. They recommended good foods as well. Love it!!
Very noisy, mediocre food
Good service and great food.
The Smith has always been my go to. Their bar steak is my favorite item on the menu. Food is always amazing, drinks are always amazing, and the service is always the best.
It's always good there!
I had a very special dinner planned for out of town guest that I reserved well in advance on seamless and also went twice in person to confirm. I specifically requested to sit outdoors and arrived 15 minutes ahead of the reservation to secure an outdoor seat so that out of town guests would see the upper west side. We waited over half an hour to be seated and sat inside rather than outside at the most interior table where the noise level was so high that we could barely hear and speak with our out of town visitors who we had not seen in a few years. I was very disappointed and will never again consider The Smith for a special occasion.
Family dinner night while on vacation in New York. We all really enjoyed the food. Seafood dishes were really good, umique, and Prices reasonable. Thought the restaurant was a good value. Nice location with a short walk to shopping and central park.
As others have said, this restaurant is loud, but the staff is pleasant, the food is very good and plentiful, and service is prompt. We loved our brunch and would return.
Had brunch the morning after the blackout. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but we were seated on time and staff couldn’t have been nicer. They apologized for slower than normal service, but we didn’t notice and appreciated the time to catch up with friends. Manager treated us to our Bellinis, which was a very nice surprise! Was my second time having brunch at this location and really love it!
Very nice Sunday brunch with friends & family! Always a great experience at The Smith!!!
All and all a good experience considering the blackout The night before. The food and drinks were good, liked that they gave bottles of water to the table (sparkling and still). Received a lot of food for the price. The only downside was the outdoor dining tables for 2 people were very close together- 3-4 inches until the next table which didn’t provide the best experience but was still enjoyable. Other areas were not this close together tables wise, just the segment we were in. I would return!
Crazy day but the comprtant staff got us thru
Very Noisy, could not hear the people I was with, prices high, portions small, food acceptable nothing to rave about
The staff was helpful and lovely. The service was spot on, not too slow and we were not rushed.
The food was delicious and spaced out nicely from the appetizers.
Oysters wonderful .....drinks wonderful......our waiter was wonderful .......and the lobster roll was outstanding..........highly recommend!
I've dined at the Smith in Midtown, but this was my first experience at the Lincoln Square location. The restaurant is quite cavernous, and we were seated in the very, very back room of the space, which unfortunately seems to be outside the range of the restaurant's A/C system and became unpleasantly hot on the summer Friday we were there. If I return to this location during warmer months, I will request to be seated elsewhere. Our server was phenomenal, and the food at the Smith is reliably good comfort fare. My friends had the brick-pressed chicken and steak salad entrees, and I had a kale and quinoa salad with a side of street corn. All in all, a lively spot that can accommodate large groups, serves decent food and is well-placed to a lot of UWS event centers.
Generally the experience at this restaurant is great. But the air conditioning was insufficient on an 80 degree evening which made the dining experience unpleasant. Despite mentioning the issue to the waiter, we didn’t feel much relief during our dinner.
Our first server Cameron was wonderful!
Great place to have a leisurely meal. We met friends and enjoyed chatting for over 2 hours. Not rushed. Bit noisy though.
Great meal. Lovely staff. Terrific birthday celebration!
I have been to a few of their locations, thinking maybe the NoMad location was not great but the Smith would be better elsewhere. Nope. The food is either bland or overcooked. The noise level was insane. It is a bad choice for any dinner where you either want to have a conversation with someone or you want to hear yourself think. I was with a small group and the restaurant would not do separate checks. They left it to us to figure out what each of us owed, and I bet you can imagine how that usually turns out. The service was okay. We were checked on a little too frequently, like they couldn't wait for us to leave. We would have sat outside but there was a torrential downpour so we were stuck inside. The only good thing about it were the cocktails, which were very good but expensive. We had three appetizers and three alcoholic drinks and the bill was $84.00, without the tip. I went to the NoMad location previously and had a similar experience. I would say go instead to one of the other restaurants on the block, even if they are the same price or more expensive, it might be worth it. The Smith is a loss.
It’s usually noisy at the back dining room in the evenings, but tonight’s noise level was absolutely horrendous. There were diners shouting at a couple of tables as if that sort of behavior is acceptable. We saw two tables get up and leave shortly after being seated. I will never come back again if I have to be seated in the back dining room again.
The noise level was extremely disturbing, I requested another location, but it was the same everywhere. Like being in a bar on Friday night. Couldn't even hear each other. Food was good, although the oysters were sandy, and considering the prices, that shouldn't be. The gnocchi were very overcooked, mushy, but the truffle sauce was nice. I left half of them because of the consistency. Overall, not my kind of place. Spent $200 and wasn't impressed.
Service was outstanding. As I waited for my dining companion the waiter repeatedly checked on me to see if I needed anything. That being said, a price tag of $50 for 2 salads is ridiculous. With tip the total bill was $60, no drinks or appetizers, only 2 salads. That’s absurd for a restaurant with no atmosphere.
Too loud. Over priced. Nothing really special.
The food and service was phenomenal. The place is very noisy so don't go there expecting to have an intimate conversation.
Great burger, good drinks, fries need to be crispy and hot. But what we'd most like to see is diversity in the servers. For a long time, there's been a visible difference between those who wait on tables on those who clear tables.
I've never had a bad meal or poor experience. I had the salmon which was beyond delicious and the other three in my party had the AWESOME burger, the Shrimp with Grits (who would have even thunk it but delicious) and the pasta with short rib.....most excellent.......
My Fair Lady
Very good food and excellent service. Portions on the small size for the price.
It took so long for a waiter to initially serve us, and we weren’t even given an option to where we could sit. After, we sat down and waited 10 min for water, and weren’t given bread when the tables beside us were constantly given bread. We received our starters, and then were given bread which was hard and cold. The table had no salt & pepper shakers and we had to ask. My food, when received, was cold and soggy, and the chorizo was the consistency of beef jerky. My mussels had sand in it and most of my meal was left there. My boyfriend had a lobster roll and it was horribly over cooked. I was disgusted and did not eat most of the meal. We’re regulars to The Smith in DC, but this NYC experience was horrible.
Ideal spot for pre Lincoln center theater
Terrific and attentive staff
The food is always on point. It doesn’t matter what we order it’s always done right. The lobster roll was awesome and the smoked salmon was delicious.
Food was very good! The version of eggs benedict was fantastic. The service was fantastic! It was crazy busy and our waiter was still very attentive and funny. I would go back.
