Meal was very good and service was excellent. Thought the price point was a little high, especially for drinks, but would come back!
Provided complimentary sparkling water. Dessert for date. It was a great night.
Food was great! Space was a little crammes but overall experience was excellent.
Pre Metropolitan Opera. Service was friendly and efficient at the same time. Food was excellent. We go there often before Lincoln Center events. A little noisy.
This restaurant is great if you are going to a show across the street which was my reason for choosing it. It is a "well-loved" restaurant and they obviously serve thousands of diners, weekly. I appreciated getting flat and fizzy water without having to order it. The rolls are perfunctory--this little review won't change anything but asking if people want bread and if they say, "Yes," then offering a lovely roll or piece of house-made bread is such a cheap thing for such a busy restaurant; that have been lovely instead of a cold, dense version of a Parker House roll? I ordered the hen-of-the-woods flatbread as an appetizer. In my mind, I was imagining a big chunk of mushroom on a cheesy flatbread. It was cheesy and truffly (yum) and oh, yep, there it is, some flakes of mushroom. That being said, I wish I had chosen a salad and the flatbread as my entree. I chose the sea bass as my entree. I was not ravenous so an appetizer and an entree were an ambitious order for me. I did not finish the flatbread and got it wrapped to go but on my way to the show ditched it because I thought how ridiculous will it be to show up at a Lincoln Center performance with a bag of cheesy bread and then have to schlep it on a train ride home... Regardless, the fish was fine. Neither here nor there. Whoever is responsible for the delicious menu descriptions should be given a raise. The description of that meal was mouth-watering. What arrived looked less ambitious. Drink... (sad horns) I know... It's New York. I've eaten in hundreds of restaurants all over the city. I know better than to get excited about a delicious cocktail. Again, the description of my Santiago Punch (pisco/pineapple shrub/green chartreuse/spiced almond liqueur/lime/tiki & orange bitters) really got me excited! What arrived was 1/2 full sticky rocks glass with a lovely green concoction and a dead tropical leaf stuck in. You can't beat NYC for its ice--extra large. The Smith served its purpose.
My family from 94 yr old aunt to 16 yr old vegan granddaughter all enjoyed the lunch
An all around good time. The menu offers a wide variety of choices so there is something for everyone. The service is attentive and friendly, the food was very good, and the prices are reasonable. Our only complaint is that the tables are so close together we felt like we could share the dishes on the next table.
I love it every time and come here when I am in the Lincoln Center area - it is a great place before or after a show.
Great service and food! It was busy but we had reservation and were seated almost immediately. I would recommend making reservation.
I would definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family.
First rate service. I had the sea bass and my companion had the short ribs, both delicious. Good cocktails. Its very noisy and difficult to hear either the waiter or your companions unless everyone speaks up.
Our server was polite and amiable, and our food and drinks arrived in a timely manner which was impressive considering how busy they were.
Fun! Place is hopping and electric. Great atmosphere for brunch..
Service was exceptional . The food was delicious . Restaurant had an upbeat vibe. Would definitely return and recommend to family and friends.
Bad food and really bad service. Tables are so close you don't know you are talking to your company or next table! I don't understand how come it has 4 stars here! Never again.
Second visit, now our preferred go-to location at Lincoln Center. The place is very crowded at prime time, and there was a brief wait for our table with reservation. No complaint there. It is remarkable how they get the food and drinks out with that many covers in a night, and at the same time. Enjoy the cooking which preserves staples and adds creativity. One cannot help but have a good time there. Look forward to returning.
Party of 4. All enjoyed. Chips with blue cheese, calamari for apps. Excellent cocktails especially the old cubano. 2 salmon perfectly cooked. Short rib special could have been warmer with a bit more sauce but delicious. Gnocchi clear winner here, light and delicious. Chocolate cake and sticky toffee pudding were both excellent.
That neighborhood is not great for food and this place was fantastic.
I loved it! It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend to friends. Great food, location and ambiance. Total NYC experience. Can’t wait to go again.
Brunch was delicious. We had an 11:30 reservation but didn’t get seated until 12:00 so next time I will show up early for our reservation and hope to be seated at the time we had reserved. Other than that, the food was really delicious and the service wonderful.
Service was exceptional. Food came quickly and was delicious. I especially appreciated how the staff responded when I told them I had a nut allergy. Highly recommend.
The ranchero scramble is exceptional and the location is wonderful!
Birthday it was very fun
If you want to be close to a Lincoln Center to see a show, this is a good spot. The service is exceptional and though they clearly want to move tables, you aren’t being rushed out the door. If you want a great meal, this is not the place. The food is fine, but nothing that makes you want to hurry back. The major flaw is the noise level; it’s loud. We probably won’t return as there are many other restaurants to choose from next time we head to Lincoln Center.
I cannot have salt in my food preparation
. I was given tasteless steamed vegetables and tasteless fish. I won’t eat there again.
This is my favorite place to go!!
Great service and food.
Advertised as having breakfast. Got there and was told breakfast stopped at 11:30. We made our reservation for breakfast. They didn’t seem to care one way or the other.
Had to wait a little for our table. But service was quick and efficient. Very well run place with very good food-had salmon and bass-both great. Very loud in there but good.
Went here for dinner before a show at the Lincoln Center. Food was served quickly and it was delicious!
Too noisy. Otherwise the service
Was fast and attentive and the food was excellent
This is a wonderful restaurant, but the noise level is terrible. It could be helped if there were not background music and tables so close together that you cannot help but overhear everyone's conversation. They really should add some kind of noice-reduction panels.
I love this place!
Evan was special. Large cookies, too.
Way too loud for a senior citizen. Nice server, mediocre food and the weakest mixed drink in NYC. So we are not coming back.
Our only complaint was the excessive noise level, so we opted to sit outside. Food and service were excellent.
We had the Sunday brunch. I had the Smith Eggs Benedict which was poached to perfection on top of a delicious thick slice of ham. Smith not only makes the best Benedict but also their macaroni and cheese is superlative. Better than she's ever had was my granddaughter's opinion.
Great Sunday brunch, interesting menu with good choices. Good coffee and great service.
Really unprofessional and classless staff
I went with my 93-yr old grandmother, and the staff, especially Monica, at The Smith went above and beyond to accommodate the seating arrangement to make sure grandma was comfortable, allowing us to switch tables a couple times to find one where there wasn't any windy draft. Quality of the brunch, coffee, and desserts, were all top-notch. Definitely going back again, and will highly-recommend to my friends. Grandma was very happy with the dining experience and left extra tips. Monica was so sweet and even stopped by to talk to grandma for a few minutes after our meal to make sure she was OK.
This is a great location for a pre-show/concert meal. However, it is quite loud and can be hard to carry on a longer conversation ...
