Wonderful again. They have certainly figured out the outdoor dining! Welcoming, festive, delicious, great heaters, affordable, plenty of air circulation, wonderful servers - just loved everything about it! And the cocktails!! Makes going out such a treat!! Thank you again, SmithFolks! Very grateful to you this January and always.
Excellent, sensible service; enjoyable food, and great view of Lincoln Center and the sky.
Also appreciated heaters, which made sitting very comfortable on cold and windy day.
Usually my experience has been good at this specific smith location yet , my last experience was subpar due to a rude hostess as soon as we arrived to check in . We stood behind a delivery guy waiting next to be checked in and she clearly saw us waiting to be checked in and roll her eyes at him and then me as well didn’t ask if we need help until a manager approached us a kindly asked if we needed any help which I responded we did and told her to check us in then from there she clearly didn’t want to deal with me and my spouse and seated us at the most uncomfortable table until I finally asked her to switch to a warmer table which some were clearly available. Terrible attitude
We visited the Smith for the Saturday brunch. The place is incredibly good - tasty and fresh food (oysters in particular), and overall ambiance like we were in pre-pandemic times. Like we are back again to “normal” Manhattan winter (for sure all precautionary measures are in place)
So wonderful
Good food
Always such a nice experience!
The smith is great, solid reliable food. Staff is excellent, covid protocol is outstanding. My only disappointment was the salad I usually get was quite small and I asked for one egg on top and the price jump was crazy. But otherwise excellent as always.
It was specified that it was a special occasion and yet they sat us in the side street area rather than on the main sidewalk in order to view Lincoln Center. Food was over priced based on the quality. We were required to put our masks on every time an employee approached the table. Understandable, but very annoying (I am also in the restaurant business). We had to send food back because it wasn’t cooked to the person’s specification (well done). And yet they still couldn’t achieve it. Wouldn’t recommend it at all.
We were seated around the corner with no protection from wind and limited heating. It was freezing!
I do really enjoy the food at The Smith because it's consistently good, or at the least decent. It's on the pricier side but I don't mind too much since it's reliably good food and drinks. What I didn't enjoy was the outside setup. The heaters were no where near our table, and the closest one to us was low on propane and the server just shrugged it off and apologized. We froze to death eating on the sidewalk having to scarf down our food before it got cold. Not an enjoyable experience, particularly for the price point. If they want to add more outside seating, I suggest they invest in more heaters. I know it's not entirely their fault given the city restrictions, but many other restaurants have done well with this and The Smith has more than enough patrons coming to invest in more heat lamps and a better experience with outdoor dining. I left pretty disappointed.
Good food and service. Chicken Pot Pie and Salmon are excellent. Would recommend making a reservation.
Pls change those metal chairs ! Outdoor dining set up was ok but eating outside with those in winter was not pleasant at all.
No outtdoor structure made it very cold
Good place, especially if you want to sit outside. The food was decent. Pleasant establishment overall.
Although there are the rules to be complied with amidst Covid, we still had a pleasant experience sitting outside under the hot lamps. We did need our coats and there wasn't an overhead or plexi glass like some of the other restaurants, but it was fine. The food came out hot, and more importantly the hot chocolate did. Service was good, other than the constant reminders to have our mask on. My child would take his mask off to sip his drink, and the waiter didn't realize, quite a few times actually, and kept coming over to say "put your mask on". That was annoying, but in regards to the food, the food was good.
It was really cold because it is outdoor dining but the food was okay.
My favorite restaurant in west side. Meat is so good, better than m@ny steaks house . I recommend it
Good food. Pleasant service but a bit slow. Had to wait a bit before we were served.
The menu has been cut down substantially which is understandable, however our server was extremely rude and not willing to accommodate any requests - even simple ones like requesting the kids meals come out first.
Needs more heaters
New Year’s Eve dinner! The food was delicious , the service was great and they followed every Covid precaution. We wanted to celebrate making it through a difficult year in our beautiful New York City and to support one of our local restaurants. Thanks to The Smith for a wonderful evening . Goodbye 2020!
NYE dinner was amazing. Even despite the New York mandate for outdoor dining. It was tough to get through for a January night dinner but the food and drinks made up for it. Very happy with our choice
It was too cold sadly. Everything else was great!
Food and hot drinks were cold
It was very cold outside and waiter did everything possible to make our dinner more comfortable as dinning is currently only available outdoors. He thank us on several occasions to be there and encourage business. Service was great and food delicious.
Excellent! The Smith near Lincoln Center is one of rare restaurants in NYC that still has truly open outdoor dining and it is wonderful. They combine good food & drinks with great service (thank you, Kevin and team!), and take health & safety seriously. Recommend and will return!
Super speedy service which was much appreciated sitting in 32 degree weather. They are doing everything right during this time and the food was fantastic
Excellent food per usual! Excellent staff and service.
Un desayuno/lunch diferente..... el omelette no estaba bien cocido el huevo......
Food is definitely sub par. Server was nice but not super attentive. Better spots in the city for the money we paid.
A perfect place for outdoor dining. They have great food with their own spin on familiar dishes. Add in COVID restrictions and their updates for safety and outdoor heating and they are a perfect destination for eating out.
Outdoor dining on a really cold day was a challenge, but the staff did everything they could to be friendly & attentive.
All good... but they have not mastered the outdoor dining experience. We basically sat on the sidewalk freezing. And they refused to move any heat lamps from empty tables over to ours (in case someone sat at the other tables). No one ever came, so we froze while the empty tables were cozy!
Dining outdoors in December is no one’s ideal, but we were very impressed with our experience here. The service was prompt and all we ate was delicious (although we ate quickly to avoid it getting cold fast!).
Maybe it was the location but comparing it with The Smith on Midtown East, this one ends up losing. The space between tables is not as big and they're not as careful with the pandemic health code. The food was ok.
Ate outside so noise wasn’t an issue. The food and service are good and I return there time and again because it’s reliable. Value for money. It’s a little expensive, but you get what you pat fir and their sticky toffee pudding is to die for!
A single person can’t make a reservation later than 9.30 am... and when you show up, nobody really pays attention to you. It took the waiter kind a long to take your order and about 6 others have been just standing around. A little acknowledgement would have been nice. The food was below par. I definitely had much better egg Benedict and French toast at other places around the city.
I wish I remembered our sorcerers name, but he was absolutely wonderful. Very attentive and overall great personality.
The Smith is trying hard to create a safe environment for dining. The staff are terrific. But the value proposition isn't really there.
food is good and consistent, its a bistro style with lively atmosphere
