The Smith is great for comfort food. It’s a bit overpriced for what it is but its location, especially when you’re headed to Lincoln Center.
I’ve been there over a dozen times now. Food always awesome. Very energetic vibe. Noisy. Great staff. Perfect for before or after Lincoln Center. I’ll happily go back.
The food was not as good as we anticipated it to be and it was expensive for just burgers and sandwiches
Great good, great service staff, just a bit noisy if you want to have a conversation!
We had a great corner banquette in the back room. Food was very good & plentiful but kind of pricey if you’re on a budget. Fun atmosphere, kid friendly & full of UWS locals. Music a little too loud but it was the holiday season. Festive! Fantastic service, loved the clean and private restroom area. The Smith is a great resource. Excellent place for a group meetup.
I have been to the Smith many times and was disappointed for the first time with the food. The bread used to be delicious and is now a totally different kind of bread which is cold and soggy. The food arrived cold as if it had been sitting for a while and had not been picked up. I hope they are able to get it together again.
We really enjoyed our dinner at The Smith. The restaurant is much larger than you would expect. It was very crowded, but that is expected for a restaurant right near Lincoln Center when there is an event going on. It was noisy as well but, again, expected on a crowded evening. The food was very good (get the potato chips w/blue cheese) and our service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend going there --but make a reservation!
Great place! My dish was undercooked, but otherwise the place is great!
Prompt friendly service, good variety on the menu, convenient to Lincoln Center.
Everything was amazing! Service ambience location.
Other than a bunch of inebriated Middle Aged women that were soooooo loud that I couldn’t think straight, the food was amazing as usual. I believe they have one of the best French toast around. Their eggs Benedict rivals some of the high end restaurants in New York. My family and I dine here for Sunday brunch often and we love it. Can’t wait to go back. Hopefully those women won’t be there.
Nice brunch place near Lincoln Center but very loud during peak Sunday brunch time.
We've dined before at the Midtown location for dinner and had a great time to decided to treat some friends to Bruch at the Lincoln Square location. Defiantly were not disappointed! Everyone's food was incredible and our waiter was very friendly and informative. It's a loud, lively spot but cozy and unique. Definitely recommend for Brunch AND Dinner!
We ate at The Smith before taking my grandson to see his first performance of The Nutcracker. Despite the holiday crowds and general craziness, we got our table right on time. Food was delicious and served quickly (great for a 6 year old). Loved the brunch offerings on the menu. I also love the convenience of being right across the street from Lincoln Center. The Smith is my go-to choice when I have tix.
My nieces first time to NYC! I spend the first weekend in December back in NYC and bring friends and family to celebrate the incoming holiday. Always fun to go back to the ‘old hood’ and The Smith was a very convenient and good place to go. Outside of the cramped quarters at our table (and an okay Bloody Mary), we had a lovely time.
Great Brunch Spot! Great service with a lively atmosphere and tasty menu items!
We loved our breakfast last Sunday and our waiter was wonderful! My only complaints are the closeness of the tables and booths and the noise level. However, they are tolerable and we will be back on our next visit to NYC.
It was a nice Sunday morning breakfast with a very obliging
waiter. The food was also delicious.
Post ballet dinner in a lively and fun atmosphere. Everything that came out of the kitchen smelled delicious. Our dinners were hot and tasty. The S’mores in Jar dessert was outstanding. The only difficulty was with the service. It was a Saturday night. We might have enjoyed more than one beverage throughout our meal, but there wasn’t anyone around long enough to ask for a refill.
Rude hostess, indifferent waitress ..food was great, we enjoyed the experience but never once felt like we were anything more than a number. Staff should be coached to mask their disdain for the customer a bit. This was our 3rd ...and last time here.
It was so loud in there, very hard to hear the conversation at my own table. Great food though and a bit overpriced.
Good food, rude host. We made reservations at 12:30, by 12:50 we still weren't seated so when I went to check I was told there were still 4 parties ahead of us. Then the host leaned over other guests to get in my face to say that he was "not the one to try today" and got an attitude to say "do you want to stay". He continued with rude and snarky comments to other guests then again yelled at us as I was asking my party if we wanted to continue to wait. Luckily someone saw what was happening and sat us pretty quickly. Our appetizers and entrees came out at the same time along with ice cold rolls. Entrees were very good but that's just not how you treat people.
A wonderful place for brunch but would recommend making reservations at least a week in advance as it can very busy during the weekends. The food is all quite tasty and generous in portions. The service was very quick and friendly even when the restaurant was packed. You cannot beat the location right next to the Lincoln Center to watch a show before or after.
One of the better brunch spots on the UWS. I would highly recommend!
Food was excellent. Atmosphere was very interesting. Service was a bit slow and at times inattentive. However, overall experience was perfect for our post- Lincoln Center dinner.
Loved the complimentary still and sparkling water. Our food cake very quickly. The coconut curry was delicious. My husband’s short rib pasta was AMAZING. The complimentary bread is okay. Overall, would 100% go back!
Wait time longer than anticipated and service was a bit slow but food was very good
Food was great as always, but felt rushed to get out of there even at 9:30pm. Tight tables, loud, waited a bit for our reservation, but all expected on a busy Friday night.
The Burgers and fries are delicious!! The restaurant was crowded so the service wasn’t that great. We would have all liked another drink with dinner.....at least there was water on the table.
Consistently great food and very accommodating waiters.
We had the most fantastic experience at this restaurant. We were running late for our reservation and for a show; they saved us a table and had us out in time for the show. The food was outstanding, the staff was attentive and we had a wonderful evening.
We went to the Smith after going to Lincoln Center. Very convenient and they have the best coffee!!! Advacado toast is delicious.
We came from breakfast and the food was amazing! I had the french toast. Service is outstanding and a lovely atmosphere. Will be returning when I’m next in New York.
Great service and overall good experience. We had a large group out for late-night meal and networking- all had an enjoyable experience thanks to the capable staff and varied menu.
Food was great and presentation was on spot. We have food allergies and the manager came to the table to discuss the allergy and the process the kitchen goes through to ensure safety. Impressed with the service. Noise was a problem to talk to one another but then again with children no one noticed when they were loud so not a loss.
We had a reservation for a birthday dinner, but, after seating, discovered that the noise level was just too much and we were seated at a table with cafe chairs that were very uncomfortable. I had requested a booth. We left and went to another restaurant.
The restaurant was very attentive to our need to eat in 45 minutes in order to make the opera in time. Kudos to their wait staff.
The Smith never disappoints! From the friendly host staff to the always gracious waiters, especially Evan, to the wine and food, everything is always perfect! There is something for everyone on this menu, and some of my favorites are the innovative egg dishes for brunch, kale salad, steak salad (upgrade to filet mignon), short rib pasta, s’mores in a jar, and I could go on and on! Terrific mac & cheese (there must be a southerner in the kitchen).
This location, like the others in NYC, is always crowded, but the service never seems rushed. It can be loud at peak times, so keep that in mind. They are very accommodating to parties with children, as well.
The Smith is a first-class restaurant without the attitude!
Very loud, too loud, service great, they cram the tables in.
the burgers are absolutely delicious and the service is wonderfully attentive and opleasant
and love the free sparkling mineral water
if only it weren't so noisy - not a place for quiet conversation - not a place for almost any conversation
and so conveniently located to Lincoln Center!
