The Smith- Lincoln Square

Good food in a busy space. Nice atmosphere. Menu with classical american plates. We got hamburgers prepared rear, as we ordered. The desssert was very good. We were a little bit in a hurry for the opera and they met our need. Goog experience.
Lively and energetic vibe. Friendly staff and service is always great. Does not disappoint.
Have been here a few times and the food is always good and priced reasonably. Do not recommend for intimate dinner as it is very noisy. Great spot to dine if going to Lincoln Center.
I always think, “let’s try something new.”, then it hits me why-when The Smith is always consistent and never falters. Breakfast, brunch, dinner or a “snack”, The Smith is always my First Choice!
Very attentive to gluten free needs! Delicious menu, great service and perfect location for before a show.
The food was delicious and obviously prepared with care; portions were ample and our waiter was great. I look forward to returning to The Smith!
The Smith is our go-to place whenever we're heading to Lincoln Center. The food is excellent, varied and reasonably priced. The service is cordial and attentive; you can get in and out quickly when you need to, or linger as long as you wish in this festive bistro.
The Mac & cheese and Bacon are out of this World!!! Love this place !
We come to The Smith reasonably often. This time we had redeemed our Open Table points for a dining reward. The manager declined to honor the reward and was rude and insulting. Essentially telling us that we were pathetic idiots for trying to use a reward and that he remembered his mother clipping coupons, but that was because she had five children and had to.
I ordered the kale/quinoa salad w/grilled chicken - and there was too much dressing on the salad. I should have asked to have it prepared on the side.
The entire staff was very attentive, from the wait staff, runners, bus boys, etc. Good food with plenty of selections to choose from. The room was very loud and at times difficult to carry on a conversation and tables were very close together.
Restaurant was too cold as front door was constantly being opened and closed.
$18, and $25 respectively, for a couple of terrible burgers. The Smith has no place charging $25 for a burger when Nomad Bar or Emily charges $23 for a burger that is LIGHT YEARS better than this sorry excuse for a burger.
No complaints. Food was very good, not too pricey, service excellent. Highly recommended in an otherwise fairly barren part of town, restaurant-wise.
I always choose The Smith as it's usually a solid option. However, this time was disappointing. First of all, it was FREEZING in there. They were utilizing the outside tables for service this evening so with going in and out of the side door it was incredibly drafty and cold to the point where several patrons had to wear their outdoor coats. We were greeted when we were first seated but then it took 15-20 minutes for our waiter to reappear to take our order. My favorite (and what I ALWAYS order) at The Smith is the mac and cheese but this visit it was soooo disappointing. It was incredibly salty and "wet" for the lack of a better term. And this was the overall theme for the meal, over-salted. I will give them another try but with disappointed with my usually very solid choice.
The food and cocktails here are outstanding. My husband and I had dinner before a Lincoln Center concert. They are mindful of diners with event tickets and the food is well timed. The place is crowded and noisy. That’s a fact and you can either accept it or be bothered the whole time by it. I knew this was the case going in so I had a fine time. Worth it for the service, food and location.
Food was good, location was very good, restaurant was VERY noisy, hard to have a conversation. Reservations required.
Waitress was slow, i had asked for cream n sugar for my hot tea and waited 15 min my tea was almost cold by then, not to mention $4.25 for a simple cup of tea! she never came back to check on us. Bread plates on the table but no bread or rolls even offered. I asked her how the short rib cavatelli was made she never said it was spicy and it didnt say it on the menu, i had to eat it because we didnt want to be late for our show. I dont eat spicy b/c my stomach doesnt tolerate it well. I had an upset stomach from it. Very over priced. No apps, no drinks just 2 cups of tea, 2 entres the lowest priced ones and 1 desert, over $100.00. I will not return or recommend to anyone.
I love the Smith for 2 reasons! The unbelievable kale salad with salmon on top(optional) and the jalapeno cheese grits. I crave both of these and no one makes them better. I have had other dishes and all are fabulous, but these are my 2 absolute favorites. The desserts are marvelous as well! I find the restaurant a little loud but the food outweighs the noise. Highly recommend it!
Food was very good. Waitress was friendly and accommodating. Noise level close to intolerable.
It’s a NYC restaurant so the prices are high — eggs and coffee will cost $30
Very good, service was slow. Love the location and the ambience
Today, I smiled as I watched another patron praising the food and staff at the Smith, knowing that I experience the same thing each time I go. I love each of my visits knowing that after a long day, I’ll have delicious food and encounter friendly staff. After a year of going here, I finally tried a Dirty Jane and was blown away. I also tried the sea bass for the first time and it was phenomenal.
We had a very good meal here and had very good service. We were there on a Friday pm and eating inside. The noise level became intolerable by 7:30 so I would suggest diners keep that in mind (age may make a difference). I would return for lunch or brunch.
I was surprised that it was a casual place because the menu looked so good. The food was fresh and very good. Service was attentive. Right across from Lincoln Center so the location was perfect. I would definitely go again.
Food was okay. I wouldn’t go back
Food, drinks, service was great but it was very very loud in the restaurant
This is a very good neighborhood location with some ice food options. We enjoyed the appetizers and the entrees. The salmon tartare and the pork chop were very good.
Very tasty food for a very decent price, especially in Manhattan. Would go there again to try other dishes!
The cavatelli is unbelievable! I usually try to be adventurous and have new things even at the same restaurant but it’s so good that I don’t even bother looking at the menu.
Fun atmosphere, great lighting, friendly and quick staff.
Been here a couple of times now...reservations are definitely recommended..food and service is excellent ! Can't wait to go back !
This was a great place to eat after seeing Live with Kelly and Ryan. The food was wonderful - portions very large; and our waiter was a nice young man from Ohio who we found out was trying to get on Broadway. I hope he does. He was very personable and handsome too. The whole dining experience was enjoyable!
It varies, but I can eat up to two nights a week here, while it is a neighborhood staple, a neighborhood gem, it's also always on point. The service and the layout of the Lincoln Square space are simply put, perfect. The food is always good, great burger, really great specialty cocktails. In fact, no where else has as many cocktails that are all equally good, and varied in taste.
Very good food. Nice service
Very good ‘deconstructed’ fish tacos and excellent modules frites - very good dining experience before theater.
Food and service were amazing, very accommodating to all of my food allergy’s, couldn’t have been happier!
Great, as always - Never disappoints. Ordered the steak arugula salad and it was fantastic.
Very, very noisy. Bread is no longer brought to the table. I had a “large” salad, my friend had the “small”. Different size plates, same amount of food.
The service is good as is the location.
Good good. Very noisy.
Attentive staff. Great for Sunday brunch
