As expected. Very young vibe next to NYU, it’s on par with the other Smith locations across the city.

It was a very busy Saturday night at the restaurant but we were immediately ushered to our booth in a relatively quiet location that was perfect for us. The service and food was excellent. It was a cozy, comfy place to spend a leisurely time having a great meal.

Great lunch place to celebrate my birthday. Service was patient with us as party slowly rolled in. Drinks were great, food terrific (shisito peppers- yum, vegetable bibimbap-great and filling). Definitely worth a return trip.

Great spot. We already take friends visiting the city here for brunch. Fun place but not so “adventurous” to scare off people not familiar with the city. Line can get long for brunch.. especially when Weather is nice. Always worth a reservation. Whole party needs to be there to be seated

We had a group of 8 for a birthday celebration. They were able to seat us early, the food was delicious and the staff was great. We are already planning another dinner there because there were so many more menu items we wanted to try.

Very limited menu. The order did not come out correctly. We were told that there was a kids menu, then when we started to order, we were told there is not a kids menu. Food was fair at best. The noise level makes it difficult to have a conversation. I will not return.

The Smith was wonderful! We had an unexpected event that caused our reservation to be pushed back an hour. I tried to cancel, but they kept us in the rotation and made a stressful night so much easier by allowing us to keep the reservation. We had a wonderful dinner, drinks and dessert. Try the Mac and cheese: you’ll be spoiled for life!

Went for Thanksgiving dinner, reservations were backed up when we arrived. The staff was aware of the situation and walked around offering complimentary wine and starter bites. Ended up being welllll worth the wait! Food was absolutely amazing and the cocktails were great too! Would love to come back again when there’s another prix fixe menu.

The staff was great. Very friendly, kind and accommodating. The food was fairly good. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. I had one of their steaks. The portion was on the smaller side. The plate presentation was sort of messy. The steak slightly over cooked. It was all very tasty though and my date liked it. I would try it again.

My Husband and I always enjoy our meals at The Smith. The food is always delicious and the specialty cocktails never disappoint.
Last visit, (Sunday Brunch) I had the Smith Burger. I love the fries but this time I requested a salad and they were more than happy to oblige me. My husband had the Benedict Johnny and said it was an excellent take on the traditional Eggs Benedict.
Caitlin, our server was courteous and had a great sense of humor.
Managers, Antonio and Jace both made sure that everyone was happy with their service and meals. In the past, Antonio has always made it a point to come over to greet us (and others) and it was nice meeting another Manager, (Jace) who also did the same.
We look forward to our next visit.

I’m persnickety, so when I very find little to detract from an overall positive experience, It’s a hit. This place is a winner! Ambient noise was borderline distracting however everything else met or exceeded my expectations.

Honestly I had a pretty disappoint love byexperience. I love The Smith, which is why I wanted to have my birthday dinner there. Unfortunately the fact that i notated this in my reservation resulted in 0 hospitality or acknowledgement of the fact it was my birthday. I even gave the hostess stand my flowers and birthday balloon to hold onto while we ate. You would think they would ask if it was one of our birthdays. nOPe! And they didn’t tell our server either. My boyfriend had to tell them while I was in the bathroom and I received the most lackluster cake (no singing or acknowledgment, it was literally placed in front of me like a sandwich) and we were charged $9 for the cake.

I have been to the smith a couple of times already and is always the same experience. So food is normal, not great but it isn’t bad either. Still the price is good, so you are actually paying average for regular food.
Service is regular too. This time we were sited between two tables which were very close to each other. I asked the hosted if she could move both tables to the right (there was plenty of space on the right side). She said: you can ask the ladies and move it yourself. Whenever I go to a place I like to be pleased and feel comfortable - that is why we are asked for a tip when we get the bill right??. .. anyways both ladies moved to the right, I mean we were all feeling uncomfortable and it was awkward sitting sooooo close to each other. So far, average experience. Then we order our food, we got a starter to share and two main dishes. We had our dishes first and the starter came in after.
Conclusion, regular price, regular food, regular service.

My wife and I went to The Smith/East Village for Sunday brunch. The food was exceptionally good: the avocado toast with poached eggs is to-die-for, with thin, crispy toast and a delicate layer of frisee on top; side of slab bacon, succulent; delicious latte. The top floor is loud, louder, loudest, with no sound baffling and loud, blaring music, so be prepared for that. The basement room is the place to go, we found out when we went to use the (must-be-seen!) rest rooms. Beautiful, cozy, room, lovely bar, colored glass panels all around, one of the nicest dining rooms in the city, but please don't tell anybody, so we can go down there next time. :-)

We got there early. It was fairly quiet. By the time we left, the place was almost filled. It is
noisy when crowded. However, the food is good and reasonable. Our waiter was special.
Took care of my granddaughter for her 16th birthday. Gave a free appetizer and a candle on dessert. Would definitely go again.

The food here was honestly really good, but I ordered steak with Fries and 90% of the plate was covered in fries. Like an inappropriate amount. There are starving kids in the city and you’re over here serving THAT portion? Not cool.
