Beautiful ambiance. My cousin and I were greeted with smiles and welcoming energy. It was dim and lit subtly by candles and other fixtures. I was honestly so surprised by the food and so was my cousin, we both really underestimated it. The first bite literally captures you. Only thing I’d say is that the first size for wine is 14$ and it’s a little bit bigger than a shot glass which I was disappointed with. But, overall I really liked the overall energy of the place and the pictures plastered on the wall towards the rear of the restaurant just added to it. I’m definitely making plans to return.
We had a reservation but opted for the bar as the bartender downstairs was phenomenal and so nice! He made me want to come back to this location!
Fun, good food, no t too niisy
We were there for a casual dinner. The menu has enough choices for most peoples tastes. Everyone liked their meals. I had a salad with grilled chicken. I love the salads here.
Great food, great variety, interesting setting. Would go again.
Amazing waitstaff! Food was okay. The hot potato chips were delicious and as was the calamari, although that was kind of salty. The burger meat was delicious but the bread kept breaking up. The shoestring fries could have been done better. I
Yummy food and good service but the restaurant is LOUD when it's crowded, which it was. We had brunch with my parents, which was good, but quite hard to hear each other.
Ithe food was good and the service the wine I order a glass of wine what came was a shot glass well I said to my friend I guess I won't be getting drunk here $11.00 a shot.
Went for brunch based on an internet review. Wasn’t disappointed either. Dishes were not too ordinary; the breakfast pot pie was delicious.
Great food. We had the Mac n cheese appetizer which is the best. Creamy with a great crust on top. We ordered a burger and the brick pressed chicken. Both were flavored perfectly and delicious.
The service was fabulous.
The place is deafeningly noisy with mediocre food. Very uncomfortable.
The Smith is always great for brunch no matter which location you go to. The vibe is really upbeat and the food and drinks are creative. You will not be disappointed. This place is always lively so don't expect a quiet environment.
Great place to grab a bite and a crafted cocktail. The menu options were good and the food was very tasty. The bartender knows his stuff, really nice selection of craft cocktails.
Food. Atmosphere. Service. 5 stars
I'd have given the food a 5, with a burger that was phenomenal, but we had also gotten desert ("Birthday Cake") that was very unimpressive. It's not that it was bad, but definitely not worth the $11. The service was pretty good, but towards the end of our meal our waiter wasn't as attentive as he was earlier, even though there were fewer patrons by then.
Great brunch spot! I highly recommend getting a reservation before coming here, because the restaurant gets packed. Like most NYC spots, there isn't a ton of room to move around in and it gets pretty loud (not loud enough where you can't carry a conversation). The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious.
Lively atmosphere and great food
Solid food, great ambiance, too noisy to have good conversation
all good, food and service were all solid and lots of choices for kids also. will be back
Went for Sunday brunch just before going to the theater nearby. Food and service were great but the noise level was too high for us. I don’t think anyone else had a problem with it , being a younger crowd.
Would like to go back sometime when it would be less crowded, and therefore hopefully less noisy. Having some sound absorbing material in the room might help.
The food was trash
Way too loud for a casual brunch. There were a couple of children running around near our table making it difficult to enjoy our time. We probably won’t return to this location.
This was my first time at this location. They are all good, but this one is a bot smaller, yet not as crowded. I tried the spicy salmon tartar. It was amazing! New favorite dish! I also had the mac & cheese. It was very good but way too much for one person. Definitely plan to return.
Good food, but noisy
Very consistent with good food and selection. Not a fine restaurant, but very good with great service and hours.
Everything we got there was amazing, and the service was great. I would definitely recommend 100%
Took my girlfriend out on a valentines night date. Everything went great as planned! They called me a day before to make sure I was still arriving and when we got there, we were seated very quickly. The waitress was kind and attentive to our every need. Great experience!
It won't change your life, but you can trust The Smith to offer a well-rounded dining experience that sits somewhere between "special occasion fancy" and "weeknight casual." The food, atmosphere and service are consistently solid, and the staff and menu accommodate gluten allergies particularly well. Great vibes at The Smith.
Emily was amazing! Our favorite neighborhood spot.
Love The Smith - any location. This was Valentine's Day. Our server was outstanding, gave us time to order, tried not to interrupt the conversation... food was amazing, as always.
We love The Smith. At any location. We have thoroughly enjoyed meals with friends and family in town, as well as a fun valentines dinner in the city. Everything we have ever had is wonderful. The chips and blue cheese fondue is wonderful as well as both burgers, the steak salad, the short rib pasta; it’s really all just great. As a bourbon and whisky drinker I love the sourness and awesome flavor of the hungry teacher cocktail , and I get bonus points for being married to a teacher. My wife always loves the wine list as well as the Warwick hard cider. We highly recommend The Smith to anyone in the city in need of any great meal. Not “cheap” by any means, but worth about $120 for a couple for cocktails, an appetizer and meals (obviously depending on what your order). We have spent much less. And much more depending on the night.
Awesome food! Great/helpful staff, would go back in a heartbeat :)
The atmosphere is very cool, food is delicious, and service is friendly and kindly. Also this place is always crowded especially at dinner time. So unfortunately always very noisy. But I love The Smith.
Really great food! The burger is amazing and the potato chips with blue cheese fondu is awesome. The cocktails are worth the price.
We were following a recommendation and left a bit disappointed. The food was good but not great, beer was not really cold, service was not outstanding - everything felt a bit short, almost getting there. Although nothing was really bad. Given there are so many options in the East Village, I don’t think we will be back.
The Smith Restaurant is our new favorite place. We simply mentioned that we were on a long overdue date night and they treated my wife and I like royalty. Complimentary Champagne, a special taste of the amazing Ricotta Gnocchi were just a few small touches that went a long way. Our server was super friendly and knowledgable of the very nice menu, and the manager checked on us too. And the food was terrific. Absolutely loved my chicken dish and my wife and I both loved our choices of salads. Very tasty. More than anything the staff really went out of their way to make our evening special and they succeeded big time. They really blew us away with such great warmth and old fashioned love. We have been telling everyone about the Smith. So appreciative for such a great night. can't wait to go back and try so many other great foods on the menu.
My wife & I enjoyed our “date” at The Smith. We had the Kale Flatbread as an appetizer. My wife enjoyed her Atlantic Haddock. She didn’t like the bacon part of the dish. She had the Garlic Smashed Potatoes. I had the Burger Supreme as my entree.
My only complaint: it took the server a long time to bring me my Jack & Coke.
Hopefully, we will go back to The Smith is the upcoming weeks and/or months.
I always enjoy going to the Smith. Whichever location it is, the food is reliable. The major problem is that it is extremely noise, which is made worse by the interior being mostly tile. Unless you go early, it's not a place to have a conversation.
