Sunday Breakfast/Brunch...outdoor seating...great food (substituted spinach for fresh herbs in the omelette- thank you!), friendly and efficient service, reasonably priced menu, great selection. Solid
The Smith has amazing safety measures. I felt safe dining there. The food was incredible. Highly recommend.
The food and service was really great! However, we were seated directly on the sidewalk not covered or separated from the very busy street with crowds of pedestrians walking past us. They have built a great outdoor seating section so it was frustrating that we were seated on the sidewalk and not apart of the built space for protection. The restaurant itself had many COVID rules in place, so it was a bit surprising to have a seat openly on the sidewalk.
I have never felt so packed in and uncomfortable at a restaurant in my life. It should be criminal to be sandwiches in the way this restaurant fits people tightly in the front outside seats. For anyone remotely heavy, this is the ultimate body shame. As someone that isn't, I had about 6-8 inches of free space between me and the table. Very uncomfortable, and will not be dining outside there again.
We enjoyed happy hour. Tables spaced well and very COVID compliant. We’ll be back.
Nice time. COVID friendly. Good service. A bit slow with food but not a big deal.
You cannot go wrong with The Smith. Their menu is not the most extensive but there is something for everyone and everything they do is executed perfectly. The burrata, a dish that can be plain, is made special with well seasoned roasted tomatoes that makes the dish pop. The spicy salmon tartare is fantastic. The short rib rigatoni is a regular go to for my family and basic dishes like the salmon or chicken come well seasoned and well prepared. The outdoor setting is nicely done and comfortable but can be a bit noisy as it’s on a busy street. The great cocktails make that a non issue though.
Always great food but the staff really go out of their way.
The Smith is usually one of my favorite restaurants but I did not like my experience this time. The waitress seemed very annoyed at everything and shot my pregnant friend some very dirty looks. Our food got to us very cold as well. I regret even leaving a tip.
Good food! Not perfect drinks!
Good food, delicious elevated cocktails. Classic new American spot
The food was really good. The drinks were fantastic. The ambience was nice and low-key. And most importantly, the service was amazing! Shout out to Reed and Lina
Excellent, food, atmosphere and service. Highly recommend!
The meal was great, however, our waitress only took our drink order and never returned. We were not even offered refills. Another waiter had to step in to take our order. Besides that, it was a decent experience
Really enjoyed our meals and appreciated the heaters for outdoor dining!
Service was amazing.
I got the apple salad with candied walnuts and it was delicious!
Good neighborhood restaurant. Chips with blue cheese are the best. Value oriented. The crowd is late 20s, early 30s. Date nights and groups. However, everyone is civil.
Great to be back inside again. Reliable food and excellent staff.
Great service. Drinks were amazing. Food was beyond exceptional.
Porkchop was amazing and the chicken
Food was great as always! Their team is always friendly and polite! Drinks also always great!
Love this place. Best American style food restaurant in NYC
great service great outside set up staff very safe and courteous
Excellent food, atmosphere, great Covid safety measures, great for kids, would definitely come again.
Great food and drink. Outside seating was really nice. Attention to Covid protocols was perfect.
I came here after getting a tooth pulled. The check in process was very efficient and I felt very safe. I had the tuna tare tare (just the top) and it was very good. I also had the infamous Mac and cheese. For some reason it didn’t taste as well as I remember it. However due to my circumstances I’ll have to just try back when I didn’t just get a procedure done. The lemonade wasn’t the best, the shrimp cocktail on happy hour was great.
Despite a few dislikes my overall experience was good.
Staff was friendly, and COVID protocols were followed carefully. Food was very good!
The food was good - burger cooked great, and to temp. For the crispy rice, the fish was a bit warm kind of made for an odd texture. I’d just make sure your salmon is keep in a temp below the danger zone 41°. I know they rice may have warmed it up a bit but I’ve had rice right out of the fryer with ice cold tuna on it - that is what makes an amazing crispy rice. Service was not good - barely saw a server then her shift was over and she handed us over to this guy (seemed a little doofy) never came to the table once. Had to get everything through a Busser, quite annoying. Also every time the Busser came to the table and/or server when they did - they would never take plates off the table or clear glasses. They just let dirty dishes pile on our table, that to me is the most basic knowledge when serving.. clear the dishes before you bring the next course .. silverware .. water refills.. check in with the table after you drop the food. We got none of this and to be honest this is our third bad experience at the Smith.. also on the way in we were threatened and yelled at by an angry customer waiting in line for a table? Staff did nothing to address this while the customer grew aggressive and threw his hands in my face saying “I HAVE A FCKIN RESERVATION BACK UP”.. if I was the manager I would’ve been sure to check in with my guests after something like that. Just goes to show management structure must be juvenile .. anyways. Not going back to The Smith.. I’ve given enough chances. Thanks!
great to get back indoors with a restaurant that takes safety seriously. Dividers between each table and the wait staff asks diners to don their masks when the waiter/waitress approaches.
Amazing food, location, and service! Will definitely be back.
I love the Smith. They didn't rush us and that is the most important factor in enjoying a Restaurant right now. Everyone at the Smith was just right. There when we needed them and not buggy and rushy. Thanks Smith!
Love this place!! Amazing food and great service. Best Mac and cheese around
Didn’t like how waiters made us wear masks every time they approach the table
Delicious food as always however service was a bit slow and spotty.
Amazing food & customer service!
At time of reservation, there was no note on the restaurants stringent COVID policies which include having to wear a mask during your entire meal. We were freezing indoors and everyone around us wore a coat their entire meal.
Our food was prepared incorrectly, and it was a hassle to have refired given the constant having to put a mask on / take a mask off as the servers arrived while eating.
Great food and ambiance! Would go again for brunch. Very friendly staff
While I understand the importance of air circulation, having all of the doors open in sub-freezing temperatures made indoor dining less pleasant than outdoor dining. Additionally, being told to wait down the street “in front of the bank next door” for the rest of my party to arrive for a reservation (party of 2 at a non-busy time) by the rude (but the only warm person in the establishment due to a heat lamp) hostess was also a nice touch.
The food is always consistent, comfortable and clean eating environment.
