The staff could not have been nicer. There was an unfortunate event that happened at another smith restaurant which caused them to be shut down for the night. Our reservation was personally changed. We were compensated with the change by being offered free appetizers and dessert
Great place to go for dinner and drinks before a show at Webster Hall. Great food and Service!
The steak and the chicken were both fabulous and the ambiance was lively and comfortable.
I made a reservation for 4 people. Two we’re running late. They still would not seat until entire party was there which negates the whole reason for making the reservation. They were seating walk ups in front of my reservation. Only when I pointed out that they were seating 2s and 3s at 4-tops ahead of my reservation for 4 did they relent and give me a table.
The Smith is one of our favorites! We visit at least once every time we visit NYC!
We were a party of 7 and sat downstairs which was fine because it was not as loud and noisy as upstairs. We were seated as a party of 7 at a table for 6 with 4 adults squished onto the banquet and 3 people on the other side of the table in chairs. Yes, we should have said we were uncomfortable, but the restaurant should have put a chair at the end of the table to accommodate our 7th guest more comfortably. On a really great note, one of our guests is gluten-free and the restaurant was very accommodating and made her feel comfortable that they knew what they were doing with regard to her gluten-free meal.
Food was flavorful
The table was just too small - that really messed up the vibe for the evening
Always a hit. It is expensive, but reliable. Great place to take out of town guests and you can’t beat a place that takes brunch reservations.
Our second Thanksgiving at the Smith. Our adult kids both live in NYC- one in Soho , the other in Brooklyn. Our daughter suggested the Smith last year and we liked it so much that we signed up again. The food was good , the service excellent and we just enjoyed the positive atmosphere. We will continue to come to the Smith. ( We were up in August to celebrate our anniversary and came to the Smith for a great meal )
We spent Thanksgiving evening here. Casual atmosphere, great food - and lots of it! Set menu with choices, everything we had were good.
An exceptional evening! Atmosphere, service and food were wonderful. Looking forward to our next visit to The Smith!
The Smith does a really nice job with having options for all diets on Thanksgiving, along with family-style sides and festive drinks. It can be a little loud, but the staff is great and everyone is in a good mood.
The whole experience was very good. In spite of the large crowd the service was quick and with a smile. Their staff is always so friendly, a big plus. Just a bit loud but that's what crowds are like!
Delicious, accommodating to our large family, including a toddler.
I went to lunch at The Smith and had a terrific meal. The butternut squash salad and the cod sandwich with fries were both delicious. The birthday cake was outstanding. The service was very good and the prices quite reasonable for the quality and quantity.
The service was amazing. I didn’t like a dish because it was way too strong and the waiter offered to change it for me. Our food was really good. I recommend going.
Somewhat inattentive staff
The young ladies who call themselves hostesses are terrible...my wife is pregnant and has trouble standing for long periods and yet they still wouldn’t seat us for brunch. We were waiting for two others to join us but so what...what pompous jerks your hostesses are :/ the rest of our party came literally 2 minutes after we were finally seated. One of the hostesses thought better and seated us after we stood around for more than 5 minutes...it’s not like we didn’t have a reservation and we are frequent customers.
Always a solid, reliable brunch / dinner spot with yummy cocktails, fairly good coffee & trendy modern American fare
Great food and service!
Great mid range value restaurant. Great service and menu choice. Always consistent level of food produced.
The Smith is my usual favorite, and where my boyfriend and I always go for date night or ordering in; but this night was a little off - solely food wise. My pasta came out a bit cold and was not the best on top of it (not sure if the temperature had something to do with it). Great side of broccolini; mostly stuck to eating that.
Before Blue Man Group show
Great food and service. Definitely make a reservation for brunch—very busy. I took a star off bc it was so noisy. A very popular place!
This popular place that offers something for everyone on the menu has become overpriced, overrated and
disappointingly less than mediocre. The noise level is just beyond. Everyone has to scream to hear anyone at their table, no matter the table size. The food is average at best, and priced out of line for nothing more than a not even glamorous diner.
The only part of the meal that met with our expectations was our sweet and attentive waitress. We will not be returning.
Way too loud
Hostesses and bartender great. Service at table was very slow once seated. The gnocchi and pot pie were just ok. The blue cheese chips would have been better if sauce had been layered rather than globbed on top. The burrata and calamari were very good.
Very accomodating, reliable. Ideal family Sunday dinner
Wait was long - 40 minutes for our table even with a reservation. Otherwise great food and service.
Fantastic - As always
I find the menu very meat heavy. I’d like the Smith to offer the vegan burger such as the beyond meat burger.
Found this on Yelp because it was near my sons apartment. Had a 6:30 reservation and when we got there the place was very busy and hopping. We were seated promptly. We found it to be very noisy. The service was excellent and the food was excellent also. Would definitely go back.
I had a reservation for brunch and got seated at a small table for 3. I asked if the table across from us was already being seated, the host said yes. It was a 4 seat set up and it was given to three guys. If I was seated first, why was it not available to my party of 3? I asked if a larger table becomes available can we move to that table. The server said it was busy so he would have to see. Moments later a lady with her carriage asked to get by because they just changed her table. Also another party of 3. The server picked up that I was annoyed and decided to not interact with me much, just asking to take plates and leaving the bill on the table. There weren't many people in the place that looked like me, but I don't want to assume there was something bigger going on.
I'll try the other two locations because the food was good. But food can never taste so good for me to support a place I didn't feel comfortable at.
But yes, the food was good.
Second time at the Smith. First time was for dinner. This time was for brunch. It was good. Would go again
This place is not worth it. Too crowded / bad service / slow service / mediocre food / expensive for what it is.
We were having a pre theatre meal, told our server and he couldn’t have been more attentive, solicitous or efficient. A total professional.
The food was spot on, and even though kind of noisy, we had a comfortable table.
Food is really good quality, well prepared and plentiful at reasonable prices. On the whole, a very reliable, pleasant neighborhood dining experience.
Great servers and great food👍🏻
What a great experience! We were seated right away and the server was at out table as soon as we sat down. The service remained stellar throughout our visit. The food was delicious! Two of us had the Smith Eggs Benedict. The eggs were poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was delicious. The rest of us had hamburgers and said they were delicious and cooked as ordered. What a fantastic value!
