food was great, service was lacking a bit. Good variety for a brunch menu!
Great service, great atmosphere and food was amazing!!
The three of us old friends enjoyed a great breakfast experience on Saturday when we dined at The Smith in East Village. With the entire street front of the restaurant opening up to the street, we felt safe with regard to Covid and enjoyed choice seats in the front to watch neighborhood locals stroll by. Our waiter was prompt, always there when we needed him. Coffee was refilled regularly and our egg entrees were delicious. We will definitely be coming back!
Amazing! The smith rocks badly
The pot of mussels were huge and delicious, but the french fries tasted a bit stale. The chocolate chip cookies were crispy and greasy and not in a good way. I wouldn’t order the cookies again. I would recommend the sundae. The cocktails were good. I normally come here for the weekend brunch, which has always been terrific, but dinner was overall disappointing.
Outside dinning. Our go to place.
Loved the food and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I think the wine is pricey so therefore gave value 3 stars instead of four. It is not a quiet restaurant but the partitions put up for covid purposes really cut down on the noise and the partitions are quite attractive. Will definitely go back.
Good and service were lovely. Accommodating to my baby boy and let us take our time.
The food is always good. I haven’t eaten inside so we got a booth so it was away from other people. We waited a king time for our meals but the food was very good.
I think the restaurant help shortage combined with indoor and outdoor tables to serve was why it took so long. The place is noisy pre covid so the noise level can’t be helped. I’m not going to eat there after 6 pm. Just too loud.
We frequent the Smith very often. Our only complaint is the noise level. It is loud indoors and out. It is a deterent when we want to plans an outing with friends who will not go to the Smith because of the noise
Our waiter Nicholai was awesome, food and drinks were great. Can’t wait to go back!
I’ve been to The Smith in DC (9th street)and loved it. This location wasn’t as nice as the one I visited in DC, but it was clean in every respect. Some of my disappointment was my own fault, as I arrived while they were still serving their brunch menu. The restaurant was very crowded (credit to them, not a complaint). The staff was very nice and responsive. For those concerned with COVID protections, they have every table separated by Plexiglas. As far as value, there are very few restaurants in the city that I consider a value (Becco for example). The Smith Is a better value for dinner than brunch. I will likely return for their Sunday chicken parm dinner as that looks like a winner. While this experience wasn’t what I was hoping for, I will definitely give it another shot, as I think the value and selection of their dinner menu is more to my taste.
Good food and service. Enjoyed it. But was very noisy- Saturday brunch crowd outside.
Went for my boyfriend’s birthday 🎂 it was very nice!
We ordered the Sea Bass and Bin Bibimbap Both dinners were terrible. I've never tasted sea bass that was so bad. It was very thin, still on skin and tasted fishy. I don't even believe it was sea bass. Corn topping had a horrible taste also.
The bibimbap was just as bad. I order this all the time and have no idea how they ruined it.
Great service, quick and delicious food.
So fun! The outdoor seating was very exciting and fun. I highly recommend the mussels or the squid ink pasta. Absolutely amazing!
Excellent food as always! Our server was fabulous. Someone brought crayons and paper over when they saw our 3 year old. Best macaroni and cheese in the city!
Neighborhood spot - really happy I gave it another chance. Service and food -all terrific
As many times as I’ve walked by this place, I finally went to check it out and I’m glad I did. Came for brunch with a high school friend. I got the simple scramble eggs & griddle while she had the steak & eggs. That steak was to die for. Perfectly cooked, extremely juicy and oh so tender. The mimosas were nice but I do wish they offered a pitcher at least since there’s no bottomless. We sat outside so I can’t comment on the ambiance too much but it was nice overall.
Went with my two small children with severe nut allergies and the entire staff were very kind and attentive. The manager came to our table to assure us that the kitchen had been notified of the allergy which was very nice. The food was absolutely delicious. It is one of our favorite restaurants in the City and the service and food never disappoints. We had the mac n cheese, steak and eggs, Mediterranean salad with Salmon and two kids steak with fries and veg. Can’t wait to ho back!
It was a friend’s birthday. Crab cake tots were delicious as was the Brick Pressed Chicken.
We ordered the shrimp & grits and the filet, both were really delicious. The filet was truly amazing. I would go back again for that filet.
A safe place to eat inside, COVID protocols were well done, dividers between tables.
Always one of our favorite spots.
Have now visited all 3 The Smith restaurants. All are great! Great consistency across all and with quality visit to visit.
Food is good but portions seem to have shrunk during the pandemic. Try the Squid Ink Tagliatelle which is quite good. Nice beer, cocktail and wine lists. Overall reliable place for pub type food and drink.
Our waitress, Hayden C, at The Smith East Village location was amazing and attentive, and really took great care of our table of four! The food and cocktails were delicious. Also, we sat inside at a booth which was perfect and made us feel safe and distanced from others diners.
Food is good, service goes overboard to please, prices are right. However, we ate outside and not the greatest of venues for that. There was a lot of foot traffic and it was windy. Usually inside is too noisy for me as I am older and it's hard to digest food let alone hear your companion. Despite all we enjoyed the evening.
Delicious food. FYI, even though they check vaccination status, they still make you wear masks to dine indoors.
Always a safe, consistent go-to. Great food and cocktails!
always a good time! i highly recommend this location!
Our waiter was stellar🌟
The waiter was amazing. The food was very good and plentiful.
Everything was was great except slow to little service.
The food here never disappoints. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The front of house staff were so friendly. It took about 5 minutes for our waiter to arrive for drink orders, but she was so attentive and nice the rest of our meal it didn’t matter that much since it was really busy. We sat outside and our table was closer to the street. We will definitely be back here, just will sit inside next time for better ambiance!
Such a hip and great place. Service - food - ambience - all terrific. Highly recommend.
Expensive meal was cold.
The Smith is a great restaurant with great food. They really helped me set up a surprise dinner for my daughter and her friends, and seamlessly took care of the billing via email. When we are back in NYC, we will definitely visit again!
Nice ambience and good service, but overpriced and mediocre fare.
