About The Six - Calabasas
The Society of Six was a group of innovative Northern California artists who came to prominence in the 1920s, during Prohibition. At an Oakland cabin known as the Chow House, the six closely knit painters held heated discussions about the state of the art world, fueled by home-cooked meals served with home-brewed beer and wine. The Society of Six and their passion for art, food and wine inspired us to create a new Six, an American rustic restaurant concept with traditional, unpretentious fare. The Six has a cozy, neighborhood vibe that is affordable and accessible to singles, families and business-people.

The Six - Calabasas Ratings and Reviews
Our second time and still such a great place for flavorful food. The summer salad - now gone from the menu until....summer.....is just the most delicious, delicate with a crunch salad I have ever eaten. Hubby had an asian salad - soooo yummy. We ate on the patio before and I was under the impression that the place was small - not so! I bet you can party a good one with some live music on the weekends. WOW..live music and great food? One of my new favorite places.
The food was delicious. I like the darkness of the restaurant. Made it very cozy and comfortable. We had ahi tuna and meatballs for appetizers. My husband had chicken and waffles and I had the braised short ribs which were amazing. The best thing I tasted was the banana crème pie I got to celebrate my birthday. The best I have ever tasted.
Menu looked great which was why we picked it for our work dinner. Lots of choices which we're very appealing and not run of the mill. We had two pizzas and one Saturday we shared. Pan seared salmon salad was a light dressing, very nice light flavor. We had the Royale pizza which was excellent with a tanginess to it.
The ambience was inviting and relaxing. We sat outside and enjoyed the warm evening. Our server was in a cranky mood and made us really uncomfortable. She wouldn't make eye contact with us or crack a smile, but besides her attitude, the experience was pleasant and I would eat there again.
Sorry, the third time is not the charm here. But we are over 60, and I don't think we are the ideal target. Good if you don't mind noise and spotty service. HAPPY SERVICE, but spotty. Good place to bring the kids, though! Menu choices are typical California high-concept, but not as good in reality as they read in print! My turkey burger, requested on a lettuce wrap, was dry and beyond blah. One of our party loved the Thai Chicken Salad. Good for burgers, pizza, sandwiches. Not a drinker, so I can't comment, but the bar looks busy and happy.
Planned ahead to go to The Six, a recommendation from a friend. We even had a reservation. Loved the atmosphere and decor. My Farmers Market Martini was delicious, the appetizers were amazing and we were all happy with our dinners. The only negative that night was the air conditioning in the back part of the restaurant was out. We were all sweating and I must've had four or five glasses of water myself. It was a hot day to begin with... It would've been nice to have known ahead of time about this situation. A call from the hostess (in time to make other plans) or a mention of it before we ever sat down. And even still no manager ever came by our table to explain or apologize. We were all pretty uncomfortable.
I'd go back as the food was really good. Just sorry this was my first experience.
Food was tasty and plated nicely. We enjoyed the short ribs dinner. Delicious. Service was very prompt and on spot. Our server was very professional and pleasant. Drinks were good. Need to go there again.
The only issue we had was there was cigarette smoke coming in from somewhere in the back. They handled that immediately.
Will go there again.
Took 30 minutes till we got a server and we had to ask for one. We had a party of 10 seated right in front. Blonde guy who looked to be the manager walked passed us a number of times without ever greeting us or asking us if anyone has helped us.
Numerous items from our order had to be checked on, cancelled, or reordered. Andrew, our server once they figured it out, did his best. Our party sang happy birthday to my wife while the rest of the servers just chatted at the bar.
We love The Six in Calabasas, the food is good, the staff is excellent. They really make you feel welcome, as soon as you walk through the door. They have a wonderful Happy Hour, as well. We have had many items on their menu, we really enjoy getting several appetizers and pizzas to share. Our special favorites are Buffalo Cauliflower, Royale Pizza, and short rib tacos.
I went with 3 other people, we all got something different, and loved them all. The butternut squash flat bread is a must try. Also the banana cream pie has a great twist. I was sceptical at first but was really glad i tired it.
The service was great. The waitress was bubbly, but not in an annoying way. She refilled our drinks and made sure we were satisfied with everything.
I would recommend this place for a special occasion or just a fun night out.
Their food was descent but I am sorry to report the service was quite poor. The server seemed like he couldn't care less. He was dismissive, forgetful and unprofessional. The hostess was texting on her phone and couldn't be pulled away from it to seat us. There were only 2 other parties in the restaurant and our food took quite a long time to arrive. I wish them the best but I won't be going back unless they change their service.
