The Silverspoon Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Our group of 5 had 7pm reservations at this great BYOB. Eugenie was our server, and she took excellent care of us. She brought us an ice bucket for the white wine. She was very knowledgeable about the menu, ingredients, and preparation of the dishes. We started by splitting the truffle fries which were delicious. Then, two people had the salmon, one the chicken, one the spaghetti, and I had the strip steak. Everything was cooked perfectly with a lovely presentation. Each one of us finished everything on our plates. We had room to split the apple bread pudding and the chocolate truffle. The menu does not have that many options, but what is on there is perfection.
Silverspoon is one of my favorite restaurants, but tonight's dinner was even better than usual. My husband and I chose the $55 5-course tasting menu. Every dish (salmon tartare, soup, pork ban mihn, sseared steak with mushrooms, banana bread with ice creative) was creative and perfectly prepared. My only complaint might be that the portions were too large, as it was difficult to finish 5 courses. It isn't flashy, but Silverspoon is truly a hidden gem on the Mainline, with some of the best food around at a very reasonable price.
This small restaurant is a neighborhood gem. Love that it is open on Mondays. The food is always innovative and delicious.
I was annoyed on my most recent visit because I made a reservation for a friend’s birthday and when I arrived there were several tables available. I requested a four-top that was a little more private (and less noisy) than the center-room two-tops. The snippy hostess said they had to leave those open in case larger parties “walked-in.” Then, within 20 minutes, she sat two parties of two at those available four-tops.
Really enjoyed our lunch here. The omelet was delicious- fresh and flavorful and the potatoes were delicious (I usually leave them behind - not this time!) The coffee after was really good, and that isn't often the case when you are a decaf person. I would highly recommend.
A second weekday night visit in two weeks, and both were fairly quiet with a few couples and several tables of four sharing wine (BYOB). The seasonal food was great and artistically presented! Artichoke croquettes, strip steak, chicken roulade, and a decadent chocolate truffle dessert are a few of the delicious offerings. A very, very enjoyable place and the waitperson Michael was helpful, knowledgeable, and very personable too! We will undoubtedly return.
Our waitress was wonderful. She was conscientious and kind. When my friend and I shared that we were kindergarten friends having a rare few hours together for brunch, she was gracious and gave us plenty of time to catch up, but she was also very mindful of assuring that we were attended to. The food was delicious. My only wish is that it were quieter, as the room is small and open-with tables very close together, and the lunch crowd was robust.
By far, our waitress was the best part of a very lovely time. I so wish I recalled her name to acknowledge her personally.
our server did not add to our experience He first told us his day was okay when we asked and added he did not like the rain. When asked if we could substitute tomatoes for potatoes, he said no and then added if we did there would be an extra charge. When told we did not want potatoes because of our diet plans, he did not have any options but said if we did there would be an extra charge. Not accommodating at all. Most restaurants will give you a free option
I ordered 2 poached eggs, rye toast and a side of fruit. After waiting 20 minutes our order came out and believe it or not my 2 poached eggs were cold and my rye toast cold and had the texture of cardboard. The fruit was the best part. The waitress came back at middle of the meal and inquired as to how everyone's meal was and I informed her that everything on my plate was cold. She replied that she was so sorry and just walked away. Under normal circumstances I would have sent it all back but I'm a diabetic, did not anticipate such a long wait for my meal to come and I simply had to eat as my sugar was down to my toes. No followup by the waitress or restaurant owner's who were present. Nothing. I forced down cold poached eggs and cold cardboard toast, paid the table's tab and left. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
As usual Silver Spoon did not disappoint. We had our favorite effervescent waiter who suggested the tasting menu. The four of us decided to be adventurous and enjoyed each course. The only complaint I had was that the meat course was just okay and my potatoes were cold. Warning, it can get pretty noisy inside!
I gave a poor rating on service not because of the wait-staff, who are actually very good. The poor rating relates to the time it takes for food to come out of the kitchen. It took more than an hour from the time we were seated to the time we got our main course. Our experience on this one dinner night is not an isolated incident. The past several times we have been in The Silverspoon for lunch, we had the same experience. The time it takes for food to come out of the kitchen has deteriorated. This is unfortunate. The food is very good, as are the wait-staff. But the waiting time to get the food brings down the overall dining experience.
This was our first visit to The Silverspoon and we were impressed. My wife, daughter and I ate at a table that was nearly outside. Love the way the restaurant has a window wall that opens to the patio. The cheese/meat board was very nice, with the meats equal to the cheeses, which isn't always the case. My wife and daughter both had the crispy chicken, which they said was excellent. I had the bone-in pork chop which was equally good. We ended up with the dark chocolate truffle dessert - amazing! We will definitely return even though it is about a 25 minute drive for us.
