Make it a point to stop here for dinner every time I’m in town and I am never disappointed in the food, the bourbon, or the service.
Food and service was good, a little loud every time I've been! Stays pretty crowded so I guess that is a good sign. I preferred lunnch over breakfast option.
I had the cornish hen and it was quite good along with a few beers. Our party had a very good time there, I would definitely recomend the Silver Dollar for a fun evening with friends.
Another solid meal at Silver Dollar! Texas chili with a side of collard greens was great. My husband had the pork chops and really enjoyed them.
I love Silver Dollar, but I've had bad luck with reservations before and this time was no different. We were seated late, which was a little tough with two kids. The music is also way too loud. I know it's part of the schtick, but I sort of think no one actually likes it that loud.
The whiskey selection is outstanding. If you just want to try a new drink, I highly recommend this place. The food was not as good. I had bbq chicken thighs and they were spicy but not very flavorful. I was expecting them on the bone - they weren’t which was ok. But they were basically just cut up chicken pieces with a side salad. My gf had the chicken and waffles which were much better. The service was just ok - we ended up comped for the entree because it took so long. I will say that the pickle appetizer we had was really good.
Overall, I’d recommend this place as a bar with appetizers rather than a full meal.
Our server clearly hates his job. I am sure that played into how the evening went. The bourbon selection was great and prices were reasonable. Not everyone’s food came out at the same time and some was warmer than others. I had a couple people recommend this place to me so I am sure our experience was a one off but our experience was not good. I am giving 3 instead of 1 or 2 just because I trust the recommendations I got and trying to be nice about it.
Great, lively restaurant with friendly staff and great bourbon tasting options. We had a great time there!
Food was really good. A bit loud for my taste and server disappeared towards the end for a long while. Would've been no big deal but we had been done and was needing boxes and our check to get to church. Overall, worth a try for anyone who's never been. Our second time there.
We ordered the Brisket and burgers. Both were amazing!
Awesome place! Great atmosphere, delicious food.
The staff was friendly but our server messed up everyone's order. She did not write anything down so it was all on her. She was rarely at our table and we waited sometimes 20 minutes for a drink. On a positive note the soups are top notched and highly recommended.
Had been recommended to me, whilst in Louisville, by a friend. Although it is interesting looking, and historical, I'm sure, it remains the biggest disappointment of all of our Louisville explorations during the 5 day stay. The food was mediocre...as were the drinks that we had. I'd been advised to have the chicken and waffle. The chicken breast was tiny and flavor was nothing special...waffle was fine. One of my friends had the ribs...would not order them again, although not bad. Our old fashion was weak.
Still, a pretty cool joint to try on, and perhaps on a Saturday night, it hops.
First time visiting and picked directly from Open Table with no knowledge. What a sweet find. Loved the food and dining experience. It was a little noisy inside so we sat outside where it was a little hot but worth it for the quiet. Fans overhead helped and the food was delicious. We will be back.
Service was very good. Food was great. Enjoyed the open air atmosphere and would recommend it to others.
Took awhile to get service. They were busy.. But food was good and unique.
Silver Dollar took great care of our group during a fun business outing. Great food, fun atmosphere and one of the top bourbon selections in town. Aces.
Great spot for Sunday brunch. The Smoked Chicken Enfijoladas are the BEST
The Silver Dollar is way more than what you would expect from a neighborhood bar/restaurant. Always great service, excellent food, great bar.
Service score is not reflective of the service staff. However the wait time for our food to be delivered.
Fantastic! Easy to see why rated best bourbon bar in Louisville! Huge selection. Casual fun patio vibe.
Best chicken & waffles of my life. Also loved the fried pickles. Brisket sandwich amazing too!! Silver Dollar is a must!!
I got the veggie meatloaf with whipped cauliflower and it was one of the best meals I have ever had in my life!!
Great bar, but the food side of the house needs serious work.
Ordered huevos rancheros, and the three corn tortillas were plated with the food on top, but the tortillas were cold. Refrigerator cold. It made the whole dish cold. My breakfast companion offered the smoked chicken enfrijoladas and her tortillas were also refrigerator-cold, but worse, so was her entire dish.
Service was below average on top of bad food, and the server didn’t know the menu, and couldn’t answer basic questions.
But the drinks are great. Go for the bar, and skip their food.
Seated immediately thanks to priority seating. Great selection of bourbon. Fried pickles were good, so was the burger. Chicken and waffle was okay and expensive for what you got. Will go back again.
Great experience here. Loved the ambiance and food. Service was awesome.
Good food, great ambiance, but noise level was a bit loud.
Great date night if you don’t mind the noise.
If you are looking for bourbon, it has hundreds, the food however was a huge disappointment.
They had a table for us kind of off to the side (great location). We didn't get that table though but they made sure and tell us that should have been ours but they had already seated someone else there. Then after being seated at another table right in the main walkway area, we were asked to move to another table. because we only had two in our party and someone arrived with four. Drinks were overpriced. Don't get the steak, its not worth $32. Not the worst place in the world but I probably won't go back.
A great place in a barn-like atmosphere. Food was great. Sitting was a bit tight. Good service.
We were seated outside. All was good but overcome by flies everywhere
This was my first visit to the Silver Dollar. The food and drinks were wonderful. I can find no fault at all. If pushed, the only negative comment was the fact that there were so many flies! We spent our entire meal swatting them, keeping napkins over the food and our drinks. We were outside on the back patio, but the amount of flies was incredible. I kept hoping that I wouldn't eat a fly by accident :) Other than that, we had a great night of food and drink.
The staff is great but we were disappointed in the four presentation and taste. We had issue with our orders, but the manager made amends. I will have to determine if I will give my recommendation for this place if I revisit and for the dinner. The brunch menu was not appealing to my party. I will have to try other options and then revise my review, if the experience changes.
Overall it was a good experience. The mixed drinks weren’t quite as good as previous visits.
First time visitor. The atmosphere and food were great. The bartender was effective at good drinks but not very personable when asked for input from us and other customers around us. We'll definitely be back to check out more things on the menu and will recommend to friends.
Incredible bourbon and rye selection with first class service. As good of a tasting environment as you’ll find in town. Plus, great food!!
Been multiple times and will keep coming back. Love the fun vibe of the renovated firehouse and eclectic decor, fun groups of people from the customers to the staff, and set small list of fun food. Like you like your waiters because they seem real and the vibe is very different than most restaurants.
It is southern classics with twists and lots of fun sauces and drinks (with bourbon or beer of course) to go alongside. Also know the owner has been involved in a lot of charity work for BGH and others and really love their giving back to the community and want to give back to them for that reason. Great developing area for the scene and has been a rock of that development.
Love the Silver Dollar! Great atmosphere, food and drinks!
Requested and made a reservation for six . Upon arriving we were put in a booth that obviously would seat 5 only. We were told that "we sit six here all the time" when I requested a table large enough for six. Both my son and I ended up getting sick after eating there. The service was lousy. My wife ordered a dinner salad which was never brought to the table even after several request for it to be brought. Then the server came to the table after we had finished and said"oh I forgot the salad" . Then they tried to charge me for it.
Very disappointed, would not recommend this place.
Awesome spot. Amazing selection of bourbon. Get the fried pickles!
