Always a great dinner. Food is good; good atmosphere; good staff.
This was a big miss and I should have read all the negative reviews. I had their oysters roqefellers were over cooked and dry, fried green tomatoes extremely salty. Our main courses fried shrimp and oyster plate very very salty the oysters had to 5 ounces each.
I had their signature steamed seafood plate at 33$. With clams, crab, shrimp and sausage. In the clams there were only shells and no clams, the crab section was over cooked and very small the shrimps were well cooked but over seasoned with old bay.
Asked to get some more clams but got a 5$ discount instead.
Would not recommend this place.
The table side Caesar salad was very good. We enjoyed all of the food we had and our server was very friendly.
The service was horrible and the food matched the service.
Food was good. Waiter had too many tables so service on drinks was a little slow.
Excellent meal for Mother’s Day! Menu has a great variety.
As a local resident it has been sometime since we have visited the Shrimp Factory. I decided to take my mom to lunch for Mother's Day at The Shrimp Factory. I reserved a table for 2 through OpenTable and upon our arrival were seated immediately. The atmosphere was wonderful and we were able to talk and actually hear what each other was saying. Our waiter arrived at our table which was located by the stairs. He immediately asked what we would like to drink and was off in a hurry. After waiting for sometime, he returned with our waters and handed them to us over the banister stating he would be right back to take our order. He approached our table to hear our conversation about ordering the Chatham Artillery Punch. We were not sure it was something we would like, so he informed us that we could get a sample. After about 15 minutes, he returned with the samples. At this time he proceeded to take our order. We both ordered the shrimp and crab bisque with a small famous tossed caesar salad . For our entree we order the Shrimp and Grits and Shrimp and Crab Au Gratin . Some time later another waitress brought our salads (which was not the famous tossed caesar salad.) Our salads had Italian dressing on them. A short time later we received our entree's . I asked if we were going to get our soup. The waiter apologized and said he was concentrating on the salads and forgot to put the soup in but would get it and it would not be charged on our bill. We had finished our entree before he returned with out soup which was totally disgusting. We have had this many times before but nothing like this. It is always a rich creamy soup and is served with sherry to add to taste. This cup of soup that was delivered was so thick you could not even stir it and we had to ask for the sherry in hopes of thinning the soup. When I stated that we had never had soup like this, our waiters response was "it depends on who made it" This was his response to everything.
Food was great. Service could be a little more attentive to the customers tables as the table are really small. No room to enjoy as you had to shift items around. With the small tables they should be cleared off more for each course.
I only came here for snow crab legs and they were the worst crab legs I’ve had in my life and I am from Florida. They came out cold and unbreakable which means they are old. We even ordered an extra 1 pound bc my husband and daughter like to eat what I crack. They short changed me by sending out a cluster missing an entire leg. When you are paying $15 for a cluster every digit counts. I told the waiter and he took my plate and came back with the same plate and said they were going to bring me another one. I didn’t know what that meant. Or why I got my cold crab back. In the meantime I tried to make the best of what I had bc I was dining with a tired 4-year old who also decided she had to go to the bathroom mid-meal.
The new crab never came out- it only takes minutes to drop and cook crab - I know bc I cook it at home.
I asked to talk to a manager and she was defensive and basically I got the impression she didn’t care. She took off the $7 kids meal and the cheap red wine my husband ordered but I still paid $40 plus tip for the disgusting, old crab.
I feel like I walked into a tourist trap but I had read the open table reviews before dining here. I no longer trust open table reviews.
I love crab legs and only came here specifically for the crab which was awful.
I’m now ordering and paying for a second dinner bc this place was just that bad and expensive. I do not recommend dining here.
Unpretentious, great food is hard to find but that is exactly what The Shrimp Factory delivered.
I had the filet and crab cake duo. The steak was very good to temperature, tender and flavorful. The crab cake was only pretty good. It was a bit on the dry side. The green beans that I got with it were bland, but the asparagus was very good! Also, the Caesar salad we got was very fresh and had good flavor. Had an extra spicy Bloody Mary that was fantastic!
Great food, straight forward coastal cuisine.
We had the mahi and the grouper. Both were excellent. The sauce on the linguini under the mahi was rather bland but I was more interested in the fish. Service was good. We would eat there again.
We LOVED the Shrimp Factory - it was the first time there for both of us. We arrived early for our 7:15 reservation and were seated right away. Our server, Virginia, was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the live music and the ambiance. We will definitely be back!
The food was great and so were the drinks. Our waiter was awesome!!
Food was terrible. Service was good.
Each of our visits to Savannah has always included dinner at the Shrimp Factory. Service has always been great with the exception of our dinner on 3/26. Two of us arrived earlier than the rest of our party. Instead of seating us at our table, we were told we had to wait until all of our party showed for the reservation. Once everyone arrived and seated. We then waited well over 10 minutes before any drink order was taken. It took at least 10 or more minutes to deliver our drinks to the table. Now, let move onto the food order. Some of our party ordered appetizers, soup, and salad prior to the entree. The soup was served before the appetizer. The waiter forgot to bring my appetizer twice after being reminded. Drinks were not refilled in a timely manner. Instead of serving each individual at the table, he would hand the plates to the person at the end of the table to pass down. It was apparent that our entrees had been sitting in the kitchen for sometime before being served to us considering they were lukewarm when served to us. The restaurant wasn’t busy when we were dining. This is not the service we expect and come to enjoy at the Shrimp Factory. We are very disappointed. We usually tip our wait staff well. But considering our experience, we could not justify tipping the wait staff.
Terrible food!! Hush puppies were disgusting. Waitress forgot salads —-long johns silver was better.
Tourist destination. Was there about 5 years ago and had a nicer meal experience. Was just so-so.
Waited over 50 min to get dinner. Seafood platter was dry - Salmon plate was 90% linguine and 10% salmon. Service staff were nice at first but became rude when I asked when were we going to get our dinner.
We had Easter lunch and it was delicious. Our waitress was very nice & prompt. It was my husband and I first time eating there, we will definitely go back.
Average food. Shrimp in shrimp factory not fresh. Rubbery!!! Soup was pasty. Elderflower cucumber martini excellent! Atmosphere depressing
Had a problem first with getting a piece of plastic in my soup. The waiter was very apologetic and said the manager would come out. No manager ever came. Later he came back and said the appetizers would be comp’d. No problem and the rest of the food was good.
When we got back to the hotel I accessed my email and had an email that we had cancelled the reservation! I called and spoke to the manager who was very dismissive and told her I would be contacting Opentable which I did. Her response to me was “ok”.
Went for the table side salad service and other special Shrimp Factory touches, the server brought the already prepared salad out on plates. Said the kitchen just went ahead and fixed it. That was disappointing.
Such great food! Amazing location! Great atmosphere and prompt service!
Overall very good. Shrimp was delicious. Service just okay.
The waitress was slow and had to ask multiple times for lemons. The bathroom smells horrendous! I reported this to the hostess and she said she knows and she hates going in there too. She said it’s caused by pipes under the toilets and needs a Plummer
The food was good, but fairly overpriced. It took way too long to get food. Overall it was fine.
Atmosphere was amazing and service was great.
Good was excellent 😆
Outstanding, the Server was great, along with the food. Other than, it took 5 times to get my salad with no cheese, the food was great.
Chose this restaurant for a late lunch after visiting Bonaventure cemetery. Went for the Shrimp and Grits and we were not disappointed.
Right on the riverfront, good ambience, good service, good food.
My corn on the cob was cold and my crab was not fresh
The food was good. However, the dishes were filthy and half-washed. There was cheese stuck on the bottom of both my plate and my boyfriend's plate. Other than that, the visit was okay.
Tourist trap style seafood.
My party appreciated Ariel’s foresight to inform us that the kitchen “was backed up.” Our food took over an hour but our expectations were managed and her apology for the delay made us feel valued. In addition to providing exceptional service, Ariel also made suggestions for places my party should visit during our short stay in Savannah.
I ordered the shrimp and grits. The brown butter topped grits were delicious. The shrimp were slightly overcooked but perfectly salted for my palate. A member of my party ordered the stuffed flounder but was not a fan, as the fish was thin and the crab stuffing did not have identifiable pieces of crab meat but instead was of the minced variety. I attribute the displeasure of the fish to not asking the right questions before ordering and not to the quality of the entree.
Acoustic music poured into the restaurant from the bar area, which enhanced my party’s overall experience. We will return to The Shrimp Factory during our next visit to Savannah.
The food was excellent as was the atmosphere. My only complaint was the bathrooms—the stalls were tiny, and it smelled. BUT...we will likely eat there again on any return trips to Savannah. My entree salad was amazing.
They advertised banana foster my wife's favorite. When we got there we asked about it they said they indeed had it. We ordered dinner very slow my mahi Mahdi was very dry. Then they informed us they were out of bananas. No sorry offered a free beer,. Will never go back.
Food was average and serving time was really long. Didn’t have a large variety of beer on tap, beer wasn’t that cold when served.
Long wait, mediocre service, and mediocre meal for a hefty price.
Disappointed that tour bus patrons constantly parading through to the bathrooms, which are in the middle of the restaurant. At one point, there was a line outside both men’s and women’s that wrapped past our table. The door was held open and it is less than appetizing to hear all the sounds that accompany such a scene while trying to enjoy your dinner. Suffice it to say, we will not be returning.
