The Shores Restaurant - La Jolla Shores Hotel
Very so-so. Reminds me of old time hotel restaurants with very plain, unimaginative food. I had the lobster special and the lobster wasn’t bad but the side dishes didn’t taste like anything. Our waiter was very good. And the sunset was gorgeous.
It was Tuesday “burger and draft beer” night fir $15. We had the Shore Burger. It was a pretty good burger and fries. The view of the ocean was lovely.
A really good view of point in La Jolla shores but the food is not so good. Overall I would suggest visitors to try out this restaurant because you can watch the sunset in this restaurant.
The the price the food was "meh"...just okay. Nice view but the food was not very good
Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. My order for two people came to over $80, so it was a $100 meal with tip (with no alcohol- just water and 1 soda pop). I ordered the Salmon and barley with asparagus and broccoli. The Asparagus was excellent. The Broccoli was undercooked (maybe they meant for it to be raw), the barley was barley and the Salmon was tasteless. There was a lemon cream sauce with it, that tasted like bad cheese and a squirt of lemon -pretty awful. My friend ordered a Steak which was also tasteless.
My server was sweet and very nice, the ambiance was BEAUTIFUL, -why I choice this place. My friend came from Detroit and I wanted her to see San Diego at it's best. She enjoyed the view. The food, not so much. The food was not worth what I paid for it and I regret spending that much even as I write this review. Beautiful restaurant, though.
The location is, of course, is fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious. But the service was by far the best! I ate alone so I didn’t need much fuss but the staff were so polite and I could tell they were attentive of everyone. Next time I visit I will be back again!!
Went on a date to this restaurant with my husband, and while the food was great the service really lacked what we expected for the overall cost. Our server was so absent my husband had to hunt him down after we waited over 15 minutes to order our entrees after our appetizer was delivered, which has never happened to us at a restaurant.
My experience was marred by the discovery that a special, birthday lunch which ran ~10 minutes over the parking limit of 1-1/2 hour cost $10 for parking! I would think at least 2 hours would be a reasonable time for a meal!!
Food & atmosphere was awesome! The service was slow. It took almost an hour to split our bill even though we had stared up front that the bills would be separate.
Food reasonably priced, cocktails priced high. Food good, view fantastic.
Beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, great food and fabulous waiting staff. We were a family of 6 with 2 children (6 & 8 years old) and 4 adults and we were made very welcome.
The children’s portions are very generous and was delicious!
All 4 adults who have eaten in many great restaurants before agreed the food was cooked to perfection! We will absolutely return when we are back in California.
Quality of food was variable. Short ribs were tender and tasty, scallops perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. But the au gratin potatoes were bland, oriental salad was heavy on sesame oil, and the strawberry tower desert was kind of a mess. Our waitress was friendly but not as attentive as we would have liked. Overall not up to the price of the meal.
Great food and beautiful view. Food is pricey, but location...
The food was outstanding as was the service.
What put a damper on the whole experience was the markup on the drinks. A medium grade whisk was $16.75. .
I complained Abe the manager told me that wa The going rate for restaurants in the local.
That was not true as i frequent many restaurants in the immediate area.
I just hate price gouging.
Way too expensive, food isn't even all that good. I got a caesar salad and it was straight up lettuce, dressing and one (1) single anchovy. Just the lil dude sitting on top of lettuce. I paid like $15 for lawn trimmings and a tiny fish. I'm a fool.
Great food, amazing view, excellent service. We’re already making plans to come back!
Wonderful view! Great service. Excellent food.
The view was gorgeous. The fresh butterfish delicious. The service attentive. But, with all of the large parties celebrating it was quite noisy. We probably should have asked to move to another table.
Heather is a superb server. She was attentive, friendly, and we appreciated her patience with us. Also, we were sat down a little while past our reservation time, so she took off a more than reasonable amount for that inconvenience without us even asking for it. That shows me someone who cares about her customers experience. She made the evening for us, even with the absolutely gorgeous sunset view over the ocean. We will definitely be back.
Overall is was a great evening. However, the service was a little slow.
Delicious food, gorgeous view. The decor was a bit dated, but for a nice oceanfront dinner it’s perfect and not too pretentious.
Muy sencillo con excelente vista, gente amable
Best location - very romantic - also child-friendly
Beautiful sunset from the bar area. We were celebrating our anniversary. We were married on the beach in La Killa 13 years ago.
Nice view of the beach. Food was good but not great but it was family friendly.
Our waiter was super. The food was good. The view is spectacular. Unfortunately, for anyone sensitive to odors, there was a bleach smell that kept obtruding itself- as if tables had been wiped with an old bleached cloth. Probably not going back for that reason.
My hamburger was over cooked and service was slow.
Though I have had good meals with you before, the Caesar Salad was the worst I have even had. It was fresh but just a pile of lettuce. You should be ashamed.
It was an awesome lunch and the service was great.
The views were wonderful and the service was very good. The one drawback was our table was not ready at the reserved time, we then were told they were setting up our table, after 10 minutes we asked how long the wait would be and were told they are waiting for tables to leave. We finally sat down 45 minutes later.
Our special 47th anniversary was just perfect! We love the view and our favorite server, Tim!
Fantastic view and great service
No one greeted us when we arrived. Table was wet. Water glass was dirty (spotty, lipstick). Had to ask for a spoon for tea twice. Crab tower was only crab on a chip which I ordered for entree along with half a salad. Left hungry. Thought the server should have informed me that the crab was very light. Thought I was ordering crab cakes. I did get a free birthday dessert which I appreciated. Food seemed very high for what I got.
Service was extremely bad. Server ignored us for the longest time to where we had to talk to another server to get our food and drinks.
Can’t beat the view of the ocean. The lobster special was cooked to perfection. Friendly staff. Good choice of alcohol.
Beautiful birthday lunch for my cousin. The food was prepared perfectly and the server was attentive. Definitely going back soon.
What a great place to go for just about any occasion! Wonderful food! Lovely view of the beach/ocean.
Easy to park either in the underground parking or on the street!
I really enjoyed a wine that I don't see often in stores here or on restaurant wine lists, a lovely Viognier.
My scallops were fabulous and my husband loved his short ribs!
Service was attentive but not annoying!
Yes! We will be back!!
Me and my girlfriend had our prom dinner here, great food , service , and atmosphere. A wonderful place to go out and eat an elegant dinner. Recommend going to eat while sunset, suh an amazing view.
Birthday brunch for May!
We’ve been here a few time before. Love it
Amazing view, decent food. We had a group of 11 people, and we enjoyed the sunset with a good dinner.
Slightly on the expensive side.
