Enjoy a bountiful Easter Buffet from 9:30-2:30 at The Shores Restaurant. Fill your plates with fresh ceviche, artisan cheese board, eggs benedict, thyme roasted seabass, leg of lamb and so much more. Don't forget to save room for chocolate mousse and peach rhubarb cobbler. Reservations suggested.

Lovely view of the sunset, attentive staff, and wonderful fish tacos! Husband had chicken tacos and raved about them, too. Daughter had the cheeseburger and it was delicious (I stole a bite!). Bar was quick and husband loved the draft wheat beer. Overall great experience and we will visit again next time we're in La Jolla.
Food was great. servers were not terribly friendly but they were efficient.
The biggest problem is parking. The hotel parking lot was only letting hotel guests park. No parking was available on the surrounding streets. After circling the nearby streets several times we finally got a parking spot.
The view from the restaurant is fantastic, and the food and service are very good.
Great food and service. Drinks were on point. Will be back!
Great staff great food great views
We had a great time. The food was outstanding and the ambiance very special. Our server took time to go over the menu and his service made us feel important.
Fathers day brunch -- great breakfast, entrees, desserts! Excellent service. Great view of the beach. Got a bit noisy, but enjoyable. It is a bit pricy, after drinks.
The view of the sunset over the Pacific was incredible, but the food was absolutely horrible! The oyster mushroom risotto had little to no mushrooms and was made with white rice not true risotto. The steak was tough and very fatty, and the fish was advertised as having asparagus, but came with broccoli. You can definitely find a much better quality of food, with the same view. My suggestion is skip this place and go somewhere else.
Our food was very good, the service was adequate but the ambiance was not what I remembered from previous visits...much too noisy! Probably the summer vacation crowd.
Short ribs were to die for. Lovely view of the ocean and the sunset. Limited wine list.
Overall very good. I noticed there wasn't any music in the background--that could have been nice.
They used to have white tablecloths as well. Felt more casual than it used to be.
Amazing service and great views!
The scenery was nice (ocean front) but the food and service was average at best and not worth the price. Would not recommend it
They do not allow dogs out on their outdoor dining patio and was rude informing me. Plus parking is a challenge so I parked in their underground parking structure. Upon leaving they gave me a hard time bc I would not pay. I will NEVER consider this place for anything.
Wonderful setting and delicious food.
It was so good and I would definitely like to visit again when visiting San Diego.
A NOT so Happy Mother's Day Brunch at the Shores restaurant. Arrived at my 2:15pm reservation on Mother's Day, 5/14, and was very pleased at the location of our table so that we could look out onto the ocean. Nice view and atmosphere. Unfortunately, that is where it ended.
For such a nice high-end restaurant and expensive brunch, $58/person, you would think that coffee would be included in the meal. unfortunately, no.
And then, wouldn't you expect a large buffet? The only eggs you could get were in an omelette, no scrambled eggs or eggs benedict. No waffles or pancakes, just French Toast. While the bacon was good, the sausages were looking good, however, they were ice cold. It was if there was no water under the pan keeping it warm. I saw the sterno, just no steam when you opened up the dish. Not well attended nor maintained. And that was just for breakfast.
The lobster ravioli, chicken piccata and fish entree were also cold. In fact, the only food what was warm was at the children's table. They had the best food of the day.
To top it off, when we went to the carving table, there was a choice of ham or roast beef. Now, I don't know if it was just the time we were there, however, the meat was COLD! I had to go back and ask for another slice and it was only lukewarm. I could have used a microwave!
Very disappointing for a brunch. For $58 plus coffee, tax and tip, it ended up being $70 per person for a table for 3.
We celebrated Mothers Day with brunch here. An upscale hotel restaurant with a great view of the beach just steps away. Very good omelette bar, meat carving station and dessert table along with the sides. This is our second time celebrating a special occasion, Easter being the other. Highly recommend for special times.
We came for Mother's Day, and, while it was good, the overall experience really wasn't worth the high price. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our table, which was our main reason for choosing this restaurant, but the food really wasn't outstanding, and somewhat limited in variety.
My mom loves brunch at the water that's why we went here for mother's day. Wouldn't come back until next Mother's Day.
Went here for Mothers day brunch. Paid a lot of money for sub par food and service. Mimosas were not even included, which at this price point, should have been. The only saving grace was the view, which is great.
This restaurant offers excellent surfside views. It has been a favorite of mine for many years.
Excellent food and service. The view is fabulous.
I was treating friends & family to dinner and was looking for a place with a view, casual with good, creative food & be able to have a conversation & not feel rushed...it was to thank my group for their support after losing my husband a month ago...so yes, it was a special occasion...our server, Lee was super, (along w/2 others)their service was very much appreciated...Lee recommended a few dishes to try & all very enjoyable! Desserts were just as good...
one friend will be returning with an out of town guest soon!
Service was very poor. Server was not attentive, not hospitable and acted as if she did not want to be there. She forgot many things, order accuracy, drinks and follow up. I even had to go get my drink from the bar myself because she forgot it twice.
Incredible view. Terrible food.
Great spot! We went early on a Saturday for breakfast/brunch and were pretty much the only people in the restaurant, but had really great service and the food was delicious. Great people watching/views of the beach.
Service is excellent , the foods ok but my steak is cold n over cooked !
Went there for my birthday with friends. The view is amazing which was the main reason I picked the place. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. My only issue was the service. It was pretty slow.
Excellent! The views are amazing and the food is delicious.
Very nice dinner at sunset with good friends, good wine and great food.
We came for Easter brunch. When I called to make reservations, I was assured that the food would be fresh and hot, even arriving at 2pm. We actually arrived at 1 and was able to be seated around 1:20. By 2:00....multiple dishes were empty (eggs benedict, french toast) and the roasted veggies were burned and cold by then and almost empty. The english muffins on the eggs were hard. We have been to many Easter brunches over the years in various locations throughout Southern California...in all cases EXCEPT for the Shores...soda, tea and coffee have always been included. For the price of $58 per person, we were VERY disappointed in the quality and presentation of the food and the fact that we were charged for basic beverages that cost penny's to make was disappointing. We will NOT be recommending this restaurant to others. We are a family of four that consistently spends over $1000 per month just eating out....we do know quality food when we are served it and the Shores fell way short.
The food was disgusting. Extremely disappointed.
Waiter was nice but that is all. I will never go back and will deter anyone I know from doing so. It almost ruined our Easter.
Great place for Easter Sunday Brunch buffet. Food selection is awesome ranging from fruits, salad, omelet station (too much butter), pastry, ham, lamb, and beef. Many seafood dishes including butter fish. Attendants are very quick at filling your drinks or taking your dirty plates away. Beautiful ocean view with typical So Cal sunshine. We enjoyed it very much.
The Easter Brunch was severely lacking in selection for the $58.00 per plate price. One omelette station, which only offered two cheeses; gouda & pepper jack cheese (not kid friendly flavors). A carving station with ham and prime rib. The prime rib was cut so thin I could have used it for sandwiches. Details make all the difference!! Bagels but no cream cheese, charged extra for orange juice, pineapple slices were left whole (which took up the entire plate) instead of cut in half or quarters, kids table could have used some cute Easter sugar cookies.
Normally an excellent restaurant. Went there for Easter Brunch. Buffet opened late, food was cold, Eggs Benedict chafing dish empty. Food was inedible. Cold sausage, cold bacon, just awful. Restaurant manager comp'd one of the meals but who pays $59/person for a cold buffet breakfast. This wasn't worth $10
To put the review title in context, here is a short intro. My wife and I were meeting a friend for dinner on a Saturday night. We had a short list of favorites in La Jolla and Del Mar. The short list didn't work out -- no reservations were available. As a consequence, we ventured outside of the "familiarity zone" and ended up at The Shores. That turned out to be a choice that I rate as a solid "not bad."
Why doesn't The Shores get five stars? The reason is the menu. There doesn't seem to be anything on it that is truly outstanding (although I didn't try any of the $15 burgers). That said, all bases are covered and you won't leave hungry.
Some other rapid-fire comments: the garage is small and was a little tight for navigation in a mid-size SUV (Grand Cherokee); the view is spectacular; the dining room is spacious (no problem getting reservations on a Saturday -- and no bumping elbows with guests at neighboring tables); the service in our case was attentive and personable -- high marks for that!
So, The Shores left a good impression -- but didn't exactly make it to the top of our list. So, we may be back again -- on a night when all our favorites are booked.
So kid friendly it is adult hostile - kids screaming and throwing things, sloth-like service and overpriced frozen food and a weak wine list. But the view is great!
Outstanding food and sunset view is the best that we have had in CA!
