The Shores Restaurant - La Jolla Shores Hotel
They must have been understaffed or something. The bread rolls were so overcooked they were hard, even the flatbread appetizer. The potatoes were cold and the rice for the ahi bowl was dry. I think stuff got left under a heat lamp forever it was really bad. Several of our party hardly touched our food, except for the nachos and the turkey club which were great. I have eaten here before and it was good so I was really surprised.
Waiters didn’t want to clean our table up when my daughter accidentally spilled her milk shake.
We’ve got an extra dish we didn’t order.
Waiters didn’t pay much attention to us. Very slow and lousy service.
My reservation was marked for a special event (Birthday), however it was never came up and we were not even offered a desert.
Very nice restaurant with a nice view of the locals enjoying water sports.
The patio view was the show stopper. Now the food was great for the most part. We had the ribeye which was cook perfectly but my wife had the burger and it was only ok. The meat was flavorless but still passable. Now I think the waitress was just having an off night but it was horrendous. Drink orders were wrong, she kept forgetting things. We got a starter and there was no plates or utensil. No refills on drinks. There was more but you get the point. But the view made it didn’t matter.
This continues to be our GO-TO restaurant with out-of-town friends & family. The ambiance is low key, quiet and elegant. We had the butterfish, pho with sashimi tuna, and short ribs. All were delectable. Our chef friend loved the shortribs. I was impressed by the lightly breaded & sauteed butterfish, with asparagus & sunkissed squash. The pho was especially good, and very colorful. You can't beat the ocean view.
The only suggestion is you bring back the mud pie with coffee ice cream. Neapolitan just doesn't cut it!
The service was perfect, and the views were stunning. The quality of the food (salmon) was not the best of quality and could have been cooked a bit longer to get the perfect taste.
Food was excellent. A few vegan options, a sizable kid's menu. Friendly staff, great view of the beach
Shores was disappointingly old, challenging to get to internally and food quite distasteful. As a topper, we heard the hostess tell another staff member that we were "impatient" after waiting on a table that needed to be bussed for more than ten minutes (the restaurant was practically empty). Our waiter was fantastic though! Still give the overall restaurant and experience an F.
This was without a doubt one of the most enjoyable meals I have had out in a long time. My husband and I ordered many different things from the menu and each was unique and perfectly prepared. I would like to commend the chefs for their outstanding use of natural ingredients, fresh fruit and spices and herbs. We will be back for sure. We don't live in the area but have already recommended this restaurant to many people we came in contact with in the La Jolla area. Thank you for an outstanding experience. Also, our server was friendly, personable and a pure joy.
Excellent service and mimosas at the beach with delicious brunch items, loved the chilquiles!
Deliciosa comida. Excelente lugar y vista maravillosa hacia el mar.
We went to The Shores after my son's graduation from Marine boot camp and cannot say enough about the service, food and ambiance. The manager, a former Marine, went above and beyond for our lunch. A wonderful experience for my new Marine and our family!
We were surprised to find such a nice, accessible restaurant right on the shoreline at sunset in La Jolla. We made a reservation for two, same day, with no trouble and went on Tuesday afternoon for their craft brew and hamburger special. We were seated immediately, the food was great, the service impeccable and we sat at a window table overlooking the ocean. We will be back soon to try some of the other offerings. Great place!
Amazing view amazing food wow!
The service was the best experience for my husband and I. The food was ok. A bit of noise from other people but overall good to go back.
Goid food. Informal and comfortable setting.
A wonderful restaurant week experience. May have been the best meal yet in San Diego! We will be back.
Great San Diego Restaurant Week location.
Very nice menu selection, good service and a killer view.
Nice birthday lunch today!
The food was delicious. We loved the options for San Diego Restaurant Week. Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Our view of the Pacific Ocean was spectacular!
Out of town friends who wanted to be by the ocean
Went for restuarant week so value was great! Service was good. Wait for espresso from bar took a while but server kept checking in with us and took it off our bill which we appreciated. Dynamite shrimp was delicious and flavorful. Appetizers good and other mains ok.
Excellent location for early Restaurant Week dinner. We were very pleased with the options and with the presentation. Spare Ribs were a good choice, as was the more expensive rib steak. I loved the garlic mashed potatoes. We sat outside, which we would recommend.
The waiter was very nice and attentive
tasteless food, horrible service
The view was beautiful, but the food was expensive and lousy.
The service was terrible!
Very so-so. Reminds me of old time hotel restaurants with very plain, unimaginative food. I had the lobster special and the lobster wasn’t bad but the side dishes didn’t taste like anything. Our waiter was very good. And the sunset was gorgeous.
It was Tuesday “burger and draft beer” night fir $15. We had the Shore Burger. It was a pretty good burger and fries. The view of the ocean was lovely.
A really good view of point in La Jolla shores but the food is not so good. Overall I would suggest visitors to try out this restaurant because you can watch the sunset in this restaurant.
The the price the food was "meh"...just okay. Nice view but the food was not very good
Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. My order for two people came to over $80, so it was a $100 meal with tip (with no alcohol- just water and 1 soda pop). I ordered the Salmon and barley with asparagus and broccoli. The Asparagus was excellent. The Broccoli was undercooked (maybe they meant for it to be raw), the barley was barley and the Salmon was tasteless. There was a lemon cream sauce with it, that tasted like bad cheese and a squirt of lemon -pretty awful. My friend ordered a Steak which was also tasteless.
My server was sweet and very nice, the ambiance was BEAUTIFUL, -why I choice this place. My friend came from Detroit and I wanted her to see San Diego at it's best. She enjoyed the view. The food, not so much. The food was not worth what I paid for it and I regret spending that much even as I write this review. Beautiful restaurant, though.
The location is, of course, is fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious. But the service was by far the best! I ate alone so I didn’t need much fuss but the staff were so polite and I could tell they were attentive of everyone. Next time I visit I will be back again!!
Went on a date to this restaurant with my husband, and while the food was great the service really lacked what we expected for the overall cost. Our server was so absent my husband had to hunt him down after we waited over 15 minutes to order our entrees after our appetizer was delivered, which has never happened to us at a restaurant.
My experience was marred by the discovery that a special, birthday lunch which ran ~10 minutes over the parking limit of 1-1/2 hour cost $10 for parking! I would think at least 2 hours would be a reasonable time for a meal!!
Food & atmosphere was awesome! The service was slow. It took almost an hour to split our bill even though we had stared up front that the bills would be separate.
Food reasonably priced, cocktails priced high. Food good, view fantastic.
Beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, great food and fabulous waiting staff. We were a family of 6 with 2 children (6 & 8 years old) and 4 adults and we were made very welcome.
The children’s portions are very generous and was delicious!
All 4 adults who have eaten in many great restaurants before agreed the food was cooked to perfection! We will absolutely return when we are back in California.
Quality of food was variable. Short ribs were tender and tasty, scallops perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. But the au gratin potatoes were bland, oriental salad was heavy on sesame oil, and the strawberry tower desert was kind of a mess. Our waitress was friendly but not as attentive as we would have liked. Overall not up to the price of the meal.
Great food and beautiful view. Food is pricey, but location...
The food was outstanding as was the service.
What put a damper on the whole experience was the markup on the drinks. A medium grade whisk was $16.75. .
I complained Abe the manager told me that wa The going rate for restaurants in the local.
That was not true as i frequent many restaurants in the immediate area.
I just hate price gouging.
