The Shannon Rose of Clifton Ratings and Reviews
Yummy Irish fare and an interesting vibe. Rice pudding was ice cold and a little bland but the shepherd's pie was delicious. It was a quiet afternoon and we had late lunch. I'm sure with all the bars (one in every room) it must get quite loud in the evening. Would definitely go back.
3rd time was not a charm. 1st the dipping sauces for the soft pretzel appetizer was spilled all over me and my son. 2nd the order wasn't correct, my daughter got French fries instead of mashed potatoes and my husband didn't get any of his bacon. 3rd, Our party of 6 wasn't served their food at the same time.
I will say our burgers were cooked to perfectly.
And with all that went wrong, the manager did NOTHING!!!! So very very very disappointed on our 3rd visit to this restaurant.
This is now the 2nd time I went there and again used open table. This time I was there on a Saturday early afternoon and to our surprise they were serving up brunch. Now we didn't try the brunch menu since the normal menu was also still available but I think I will be back to try their brunch. The food is definitely great. My hubs is in love with the chicken pot pie. Nothing from a box or prepared and frozen, this is real deal cooking and tastes sooooo very fresh. The whole family was truly happy with all the food, the service and the atmosphere, We will be back
My burger was over cooked and out server did not come right back to check. Eventually a manager wales by and asked how everything was and I let him know it was over cooked. Since our food took forever to come out in the first place. I told him I did not want a replacement. He took it off of the check.
I made a note on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and they did not say anything to us. We paid the check and left. I do not think I will return.
It's rar for te Rose to miss a beat but this night they seemed short staffed. The manager & hostess did the right thing, stepping up with comped drinks for the first round and continued touches. The delays to service meant that the sides for our burgers were cooled off by the time we got our plates. The kitchen must have been short as well because the attempted murder burger (fun name) was awash in thousand island dressing which destroyed the bun & made for messy eating. The taste was still top notch and th professionalism of our server & the manager said was appreciated. Still a favorite for us. Hopefully this was just an off night/staffing issue.
Went there for the 1st time ever. Loved that you can reserve a table, with kids limiting the wait goto be seated is paramount. The food was great, with 1 exception, the corner beef and cabbage, the meat was over salted, the cabbage and potatoes were barely cooked. Much closer to raw than anyone would willingly eat. The rest of our food was great, chicken pot pie, Dublin shepherds pie, kids-burger,chicken tenders, cheese burger sliders (the kids ate it alllll gone) our waitress was kind and patient (Stephanie) though seemed very very busy. Management was attentive (no name was given) and removed the uncooked meal from our bill. Actually want to go back soon for a date night, they have live music that I would love to see / hear how it is .
1st let me say that I love this place, but this last visit was a big disappointment. I love their beer selection, but the beer my son, daughter-in-law & I got (different beers) did not taste right (all were draught beer). My son is a beer judge & he said it tasted old, I couldn't even drink mine, I sent it back for a bottle of something else. Food was good, service was slow (& they weren't particularly busy). I will be back, just not on a Sunday.
We had a wonderful experience at The Shannon Rose! Everyone made the occasion extra special from the hostess to each server. Braelyn was especially gracious and so pleasant and attentive. She definitely added to our experience and we cannot wait to return- even asked which days she works! Thx for making this our new favorite place.
Disappointing service during this visit. We had had good experiences here before, but this time around it was TERRIBLE. It was a very slow Sunday evening, so things should have gone quickly. But, our drinks took easily 40 minutes and in fact, a friend at our table went to the bar to find out how much longer the drinks would take (2 diet cokes and two beers!!!). Food was decent, but it also came to our table mostly late, so that everything arrived at once - to a small table. Salads, apps, entrees. THEN, when we tried to consolidate plates to make room, the waiter didn't remove the empty plates. We had to stow them onto other empty tables around us for other waiters to pick them up (which wasn't fair to the other waiters who had other tables to service). If we go back, we will certainly request NOT to sit in that waiter's section for sure.
Great place! Wonderful atmosphere (although a little loud). The food was superb - great portion sizes & reasonable prices too. The place was very crowded & seems to have a lot going on. The hostess wasn't very personable, but the manager & the waitress more than made up for it. Our waitress really went above & beyond to make the experience a positive one. I'll definitely return to this place when I'm in town. Loved it!
The open table app showed my reservation however it was NEVER synced with the Shannon Rose location (hostess showed me her screen and the other"web" requests) and we had to show them my mobile app to prove we in fact placed a reservation. This was a bit of an uncomfortable experience given their were others waiting to be seated.
A group of friends and I just finished at pretty intense hike. I've never been to the Shannon Rose before, but I'm glad I did!
Food: I didn't really take the time to browse the menu since all we really wanted we bar snacks and appetizers. We got the nachos, quesadillas, and the spinach and artichoke dip. Nothing amazing, but nothing wrong either.
Drinks: I was really impressed with the variety of liquors and beers the Shannon Rose had! I tried a variety of Belgian whites, IPAs, and mixed drinks with my friends. They also had an option to create beer flights which my friend enjoyed.
Service: Service was good. I'm all about pleasant greetings and smiles, and we got that! Waitress always checked up on us if we needed more drinks or bar snacks.
Decor: As it's known, the Shannon Rose is an Irish-style pub with bar seating and tabling large for groups. Cultural wall decor and darker lighting gave the restaurant great ambiance.
Finals Thoughts: Overall, the Shannon Rose is good place to come for drinks and snacks after a long day. I'd recommend coming with a group of friends to enjoy any night.
I was there on my first date with a wonderful young lady and as soon as we walked in we were greeted by a friendly hostess. She brought us to our table and we had plenty of time to look at the menu. The waitress was great and made suggestions for our meal. We also were greeted by another hostess who wanted to make sure we were happy and she as well was very friendly. Outstanding service and food.
We returned to the Shannon Rose in Clifton after being there for our Holiday Party last year . I specifically told anyone with whom I spoke about our visit there , that I was very pleased with the food , when comparing it to other types of restaurants I.E. Fridays and the like .
I will start by saying the Girls and the Service was exemplary Both our waitress and Manger were very nice an accomodating . The food however was a BIG Disappointment . At least one of our party sent it back and my Burger was Dry and very ordinary .
I will go back next year and try one more time because it is so convenient for all of us and the Service across the board was top of the line and the place is very nice . But only one more time . Sorry but after next if it doesn't cut the mustard its Fridays or Chevy's
I have always loved coming to the Shannon Rose. The staff are always so friendly and their new menu items are great. I had the crispy chicken sandwich and brownie sundae and they were both AMAZING! Just don't order the pecan pie. It was if it were made of glue!
