Item descriptions on the menu are misrepresented. They were out of many dishes. It was our first bad experience at Seafare but it has changed quite a bit from a year ago. The attention to detail is now lacking. May try it one more time.
This is fine dining at affordable prices. The atmosphere and the ambience are beautiful. The table settings, the lighting. Our waitress is clearly professional she knew really how to take care of people. The food was outstanding. All in all it was an absolutely wonderful experience and and The best dining experience we had while in Williamsburg. I recommend it without reservation.
We visited the restaurant years ago and we impressed with the food and service. We were not disappointed during this visit and look forward to recommending The Seafare to friends.
First time, but will not be back. Food was bland and service was slow. I know many places stopped offering bottled water because of environment but have filter water, this place does not have either.
No air conditioning in August. When we mentioned it, the host simply said, "Have a nice evening" ... and showed us out.
We all loved our dining experience! The food was delicious and our service was outstanding. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the crab cakes were fantastic. We will eat here again when we are visiting Williamsburg.
We enjoyed our meal. The food was excellent. The service was very good. The restaurant has a nice seaside decor.
To sure we would return...too many other places to eat in Wmsbg
I am very appreciative of the service provided by Anya, Nick and Jester. In addition, the restaurant setting was comfortable. The serious drawback to these compliments is the food. The lump crabmeat appetizer was tasty but it was all downhill from there.
The super sauton which features various seafood was a mess. Red bell pepper strips atop the mixture were mushy and bland, the lobster was overcooked and tough, and the other seafood was just okay. We will not return.
Going into the place my husband was very uncomfortable sitting in the booth and he is a tall man but not an oversize man I just felt very uncomfortable so we asked to be receded at a table area with chairs. The place is definitely a revival of an old ship but definitely a 70s vibe. Our waitress was Kristine who is very sweet and means very accommodating. My husband and I both had soup’s that were very delicious in the crowd desk in the New England clam chowder. We split a chopped salad, How were very tasty. I had the grouper, My husband had the fried fish dinner, both were good. The air conditioning was a HIGE issue! 2 tables of people walked out complaining! They had tried to give me some excuse when I complained at the front desk everyone is experiencing the same thing...no they aren’t. Won’t be back! Good luck to the wait staff on getting tips.
Baked grouper a bit over cooked which made it tough.
If you want wine by the glass you get ONE brand choice, and it’s a low end wine. Wines by the bottle choices are not much better. That was disappointing. Service was excellent!
Good food but its too expensive for me to come back. Also, the waiter was extremely nice and attentive but he brought my house salad out at the same time as everyone else's main course. So I got to enjoy my main course while everyone watched me.
The food was OK. Wasn't great, wasn't awful. Waiter was intermittently to our table. It was an average experience, but overpriced for what we got.
Inside the restaurant was warm to almost being uncomfortable. Actual food quality and taste were excellent. A little on the expensive side compared to another excellent seafood restaurant in the near vicinity.
Service started out little uncomfortable due to a very new international student on exchange program. After a little bit of conversations with her she relaxed and service became excellent.
I would return again.
Great food and service. They take good care of large parties, which we have taken there several times.
The seafood was delicious but the ribeye steak was terrible. My husband says it was the worst steak he ever had out to eat. It was not how it was cooked, rather it seemed to be the cut of meat itself. Please review how the meat is selected because otherwise we thought the Seafare was an elegant, wonderful restaurant with utterly scrumptious seafood!
Wonderful restaurant-food, staff, atmosphere! Highly recommend.
The Seafare has been a favorite restaurant over many years. Consistently fine food, service, and atmosphere. Costs a bit of money but the experience is worth it.
Waiter was OK and tried hard. Food wasn't be the best and some of it was cold. My complaint is with the owner/manager. The lady wasn't friendly and acted as thought we were bothering her when she went to seat us. After receiving the appetizers the waiter said our order was lost and ask for us to provide the order again. No big deal. The lady (manager/owner) jumped on the waiter for the mishap. I'm not certain it was his fault but she shouldn't have said anything to the waiter in front of customers. On the way out I asked the lady if she was having a bad day or acted like this all the time and mentioned she shouldn't have said anything to the waiter in front of customers. She said she would run the business as she wanted. Our party won't go back.
Miko, our waiter, was excellent!
Great food and very attentive staff. Really enjoyed the decor as well
The crab cakes were delicious. The drinks were ok but not the best. The place was ok in atmosphere
Crab cakes were delicious, the spiced breading / crab meat ratio was perfect. Also the veggies were very fresh and served simply which I prefer.
Wonderful waitress, Karen. My wife had whole stuffed lobster and lived it. I had the Super Sauton(hope this spelling is correct) . This is a shrimp, lobster, sea scallop, and oyster combo( not battered fried) and was excellent. Decor is pleasing and comfortable. Wall hangings are a bet cheesy , lithographs of ocean liners with electric lights in the ship's windows!! Overall very good food and great service. Would recommend to anyone looking for fine dining in Williamsburg, Va.
Disappointing! Very few customers in a huge dining space. Food average at best.
We had an joyable dinner. Food was well prepared perfectly and the sorbet was a treat.
We have been going to Seafare since 1992 and I can say that the quality of the food, the service and the ambiance all continue to be excellent. Every time we go to Williamsburg, getting a reservation at Seafare is a must do!
My wife and I dined on a Sunday evening and we both ordered the Sunday surf and turf special. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and excellent service provided by our waiter.
This is tourist trap run by a surly and arrogant manager (owner?). The first impression of the interior is what you would expect of a cheap New Jersey seaside dive (Sorry NJ). The dining area was two rows of booths with tables crowded into the middle. The only positive was that the food was tasty, particularly the scallops, but the overall experience was not one I care to repeat. The waiter was pleasant and attentive, but could not explain how a couple of dishes on the menu were prepared. And in spite of a VERY thin wine list, he did not know about any of the wines offered. At leaving time we had an issue with the coupon from our resort. The manager’s sarcastic response was “read the fine print”. I did, and found that almost everything was excluded. I suspect this restaurant’s business plan is to fleece tourists and not worry about locals. I can’t imagine anyone paying them a second visit.
Very good seafood restaurant. Service was excellent, very attentive and great advice about menu items. Clam chowder was very good, not salty like most places and lots of clams. Crab meat in stuffed shrimp nice and meaty. Terrific dinner, we're looking forward to going there again.
The seafood was excellent. Our waiter Miko was very personable and very timely with each course of our fine meal. The restaurant that evening was surprisingly quiet and that made for a peaceful no rush ambiance. Will definitely make return visits when we are in town!!
Food was really good.Portions were small even though I am not huge on wasting food. I left somewhat hungry but satisfied taste wise.
We have come to the Seafare for many years. The table was set with out napkins, small plates, etc. The lighting was so dark that we could not read the menu. They did turn it up but not much. The food was delicious. Rather expensive. Special occasion only.
Unfortunately we had a very poor experience. Empty tables everywhere, but sat walkins before us even though had reservations which had us wait unexplainably 40 minutes without any comments as to why. Then sat with lack of Serivice, overpriced mediocre food.
Food looked as if prepped day in advance and served like in a cheap cafeteria. Very disappointed.
Seemed understaffed for volume on Mother's Day. Waiter did not get order correct. Menu items were not available. Amazing food
I had made reservations for 1:00 PM to celebrate Mothers' Day with my daughter and 97 year old mother. We arrived at around 12:30 AM, there was a couple standing in front of the reception desk looking around as if looking for someone. It became obvious that there was no one manning the desk. After a few minutes I pulled out a chair for my mother to sit in while we waited. I dialed the restaurant number and just as it started to ring, someone came up. We were seated immediately and given menus. The selection was very nice. There was a three-course dinner for $37 featuring a choice of two soups and two salads, four or five entrees, and six deserts. There was also a $25 Sunday Brunch menu with the same salad/soup and desert choices and a surf and turf as the entre. There was also a larger a la carte menu. A server brought us each a slice of a sweet bread and poured water. After waiting a rather long time, a server came by for our drink order. We ordered a bottle of a Cote de Provence Rose. The server came back with a bottle of Chateau Neuf du Pape, a red wine. He went back and brought us the correct wine. The wine was excellent. Then, again after a long wait, the (I believe he was the Manager) came and took our order. My mother loves surf and turf, so she ordered that; only they did not have it today. So my mother and I ordered the Crab Bisque, Veal Oscar, and she had the cheesecake and I had the Pecan pie. My daughter ordered the Caesar's Salad, Shrimp Scampi, and the cheesecake.
The appetizers came. My daughter's salad was good, our bisque was tepid, but good. All of our entres were excellent. The veal was very tender and not over-cooked. The plate was served with asparagus, broccoli, and mashed potatoes, all were excellent. My daughter's scampi was also good and served with the same vegetables. The deserts were, also, good. Other than the slow service (probably due to larger than expected crowd) the Seafare is a great restaurant.
Slow service and average food...not a good combination.
I have been there numerous times and I have always had a great meal. The kitchen knows how to cook seafood beautifully. The place just relaxes you and it is QUIET so you can actually have a nice conversation with people at your table.
Food is always excellent, one of my favorite restaurants in Williamsburg.
The fixed price menu of $37 is a terrific bargain!
