The Sea Goose Grill & Raw Bar Ratings and Reviews
Sea Goose management is offering a Sunday Lobster special until summer arrives. For those of us here year round it is a good outing to have Lobster cooked as we like, share with our guests and not pay an arm and a leg. The baked stuff Lobster was my choice, I am not usually a baked stuffed fan, but this Lobster was meaty, done perfectly, moist and covered with a crab stuffing. Delicious.
The Sea Goose has an outstanding happy hour especially if you are a fan of raw bars, although getting a seat can be an issue because other people are aware of this treasure. The food is consistently good and creative, not your typical fisherman's platter. Service is great with the servers checking frequently enough but not making you feel rushed.
The staff are best in the Westerly Area. The food is excellent with specialty being oysters and lobster nachos! Worth the trip. It is moderately priced which I don't have an issue with but for families might be a bit steep, especially for those with younger children. Highly recommend!
Restaurant was active but not jammed. Dinner menu was okay but pricey for the atmosphere. We had a nice waitress but appeared frustrated and was rushing us to make a menu choice. She was pleasant but seriously annoyed at something. Menu selection was interesting but not great. I would try it again, but for lunch.
We've been going to the Sea Goose since it first opened, and every time our experience has been outstanding. The owner and manager frequent the tables and continually look for feedback from guests. The kitchen is consistently excellent, and the one time a mistake was made the owner immediately took care of it.
We also like the fact that they offer a wide variety of dishes even though the main focus in on sea food and the raw bar.
My friend and I went there for restaurant week to try something different. We drove 35 min, worrying if it would be good and It was simply delicious! Really good portions and the waiter was really good, he explained to us what our options were very well. I had mussels, lobster and for dessert warm apple crisp and vanilla ice cream
Our server was wonderful and we had a comfy round table in the corner. Although we had a tv nearby, the volume was low and did not disturb our conversation. Most of us were pleased with our dinners, those of us with lobster rolls felt more lobster was needed.
We went on a Sunday early evening, seated promptly and Jeremy our waiter was very informative. My husband ordered the scallop special which was cooked to perfection, mom had fried whole belly clams which pleased her (though the fries were a little over cooked for her).
I ordered the filet mignon with fried oysters. I got about 4 or 5 fried oysters. The filet was cooked as I ordered it and the oysters were delicious. We didn't order any appetizers this time around but our meals came out very quick. We will definitely go back and would recommend giving them a try.
We have enjoyed this restaurant seasonally and weekly for the past year
The more mature staff are always superlative with their reception, phone manners, etc.
However, this past week, when I had to change the time we were hoping to eat, the very young female actually sounded annoyed
Our dining experience remained excellent, but part of the experience includes the phone reception.
Some of the younger staff needs to be reminded that the caller is also a valued patron
The oysters were great. The clam appetizer was dry and not worth having at all.
The strawberry shortcake dessert was also very disappointing, a few strawberries on a
a piece of cake, no juice, very underwhelming. The dinners were good, but not great.
The bill for four was $250 before tip. Just not worth that kind of money.
On a very busy Saturday night our table was set up and waiting for us, always such a nice touch. Started the night off with oysters, special basil soup of the day, smoked chicken wings, and the chowder and clam clams. We all shared and we loved everything that was brought to the table. Dinner consisted of three different salads, the barratta, cards with grilled chicken, the sea food Cobb, the strip steak shrimp scampi combo special and the sword fish. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Desert consisted of strawberry shortcake and banana cream pie. My only suggestion is if you are going to make the effort to make the fresh bus outs you should make fresh cream to put on top of it. Thanks for a great ending to a great day at the shore .
The group got 3 lobster rolls. They were good, except some of the lobster was overcooked and the bun was a little soggy.
I would still recommend getting the lobster rolls though. They weren't the best I've ever had, but definitely satisfying. The french fries were perfectly crispy and the desserts were great!
Loved our server!
Second trip of the season. This is our go to place to eat when at the shore. The food is great as is the atmosphere. A very relaxing setting where you can take your time, never feel rushed and always enjoy your meal. Tonight was no exception. Beth, our favorite server, once again paced our meal to perfection. We started with clam cakes and clam chowder. Not sure I have ever had clam cakes with more clams in them. They were great as was the chowder which was loaded with clams, thick and served piping hot. We moved onto fried calamari which was fresh, tasty and served with a dipping sauce. The chicken wings ( our first time trying them) are smoked and served with either a sweet or spicy sauce over the top good. Dinner isn't dinner here without doing a lobster boil. A one pound lobster, mussels, clams, potatoes, corn on the cob and andouille sausage all served piping hot on a platter. It is hard for me to tell you how good this meal is. If you are hungry try this, trust me. No room for desert. Off to the show, thanks Beth for another great night. Already thinking about our next trip here...
I was put on the spot to come up with a restaurant that, when our visiting friends suggested I pick the place. I had been here for lunch before but never for dinner. We started out with cocktails which were very good. We ordered the lobster nachos to share which we very delicious, but did not look like your typical nacho plate. I had a bowl of the clam chowder, while one of the guests got the lobster bisque. Both were very fresh tasting and very yummy. I had the seafood stew, which was comprised of 1/2 of a 1lb lobster, scallops, shrimp, muscles and clams in a tomato based saffron broth. I enjoyed my stew very much. Also ordered at the table were the steamed lobster, baked stuffed lobster and the rib-eye steak topped with blue cheese. The only complaint that could be lodges was with the steak. It was ordered medium-rare but it came out more medium. The thinner part of the steak looked more medium-well. They could have done a better job of getting the steak done right. This is however a restaurant that focuses on seafood, and there they did not disappoint. The service was great, and it seemed that everyone there cared if we enjoyed our food.
Happy to have gotten a reservation for 5 people during prime time hour of 7PM on Saturday night in the summer. Oysters are always sweet and tender. Service is always polite and food is served timely. All five guests were pleased with the meals they ordered. Atmosphere is energetic to noisy. It was difficult hearing the person next to us talk much less have a table conversation. Will be back soon, though!
The staff was outstanding being attentive to my son with a shellfish allergy. While the food was fine and the Bloody Mary was terrible, the overall feel was well worth it. I would go back and recommend the Sea Goose. After some more growing pains it should be quite good.
We've dined at the Sea Goose several times and this was the best overall evening so far! Found a nice bottle of wine on the specials list. Had clam cakes and chowder and lobster bisque and both soups were great and served piping hot. We both had filet mignon and crab cakes and the filets were cooked perfectly. Crab cakes were moist and tasty. Our server (Jorge, I think his name is) was very good without hovering. He was friendly and efficient. We split a Creme Brulee and that was perfect, too. Nice job, Sea Goose! Great meal.
I made reservations for 6:30 pm, we arrived a little early and the hostess said no problem, I have your booth over here by the window, then we were greeted by our waitress, Brianna (I think that was her name), lovely girl, and we ordered oyster appetizers, delicious .... then ordered the entrees, I had the shrimp and grits, very good, and my friend had the filet mignon and crab cake, and she raved about both .... I'm glad we went there, will go again !!!
