our waiter seemed to be having an off day, he forgot a few things and had to go back to the Kitchen a few times to find out.
It was a Sunday, night and I will say don't go here on a Sunday. They were out of Cheesecake, they didn't have any pies and they were out a few few other regular menu items.
The worst part is that they have taken the fried pickles off of the dinner menu, we were really looking forward to these. I really hope they put them back on the dinner menu. They are very good and one of the thing we have come back for.
We've been visiting this restaurant since the year it opened. Great atmosphere, good food and wine and drinks and if you have a special but small event the upstairs accommodations are a reflection of how the main dining room feels.
Everyone had an excellent time here for our wedding reception and the owners and staff were extremely helpful and accommodating.
We're so delighted we tried this little gem in Des Moines. The cheese helpings on the charcuterie boards were large and lovely. There was some live music that just added to the fun and great atmosphere. Hopefully this is a trend for others to follow in Des Moines, for great food and drinks.
We had a phenomenal dinner! We started with Champagne Cocktails -- the best I have ever had. Their wine selection is extensive. We had two bottles of cabernet that were full-bodied and well-priced. The prime rib was incredibly tender and juicy. I loved the mashed potatoes (very creamy) and vegetables (cooked to perfection). We ended this memorable meal with a slice of blueberry cheesecake -- OMG! Definitely a 5-star experience!
Brought some friends to introduce them to the Scotch and Vine. No one was disappointed. After some apatisers and bourbon we ordered. They had the fresh Halibut and shrimp fettuccine. My wife and I had the owners meal. All was excellent and cooked perfect. The waitstaff was wonderful and helpful with great suggestions and very attentive. I asked the couple the next day how the seafood was. They said it was excellent, but when they saw our fillets comeout they were in "meat envy" (his words). We will keep bringing people to this our favorite as it has never let us down.
I have been is hospitality 30 years so I set the bar high when I dine out. We were warmly greeted, with a reservation check we were then seated. We were given menus ( your online menu needs to be updated). I was disappointed the spinach salad was not an option. So I had asked and was told Chef removed it. So I ordered a bowl of smoked tomato soup and the steak salad. My other half had a burger. When the order came I received a cup of soup, at that point I did not say anything, salad was served with croutons around the plate and four very thin slices of flat iron steak, dressing on the side. The salad looked lonely, lacking color and flavor, the meat was tough. My partner noticed there was a starter spinach salad, which was never mentioned. It did not taste like the lettuce was washed. The burger looked great, potatoes were good but greasy. Overall disappointed, server was not on his game, or did not seem interested. Cute place but who is minding the store?
Amazing Cheese selection, Amazing Steak, Love the cheese butter on top, Amazing Scotch and wine selection, and the service was great! We were the last people in the place at closing time and the server made sure to come over and tell us to take our time. Definitely going back!!!
We love this restaurant so I chose it for my husbands birthday. Our son joined us, it was his first time there. The food is downright amazing, some of the best you will get anywhere at any price. They have a nice range of choices, including some real comfort food and the wine list is great. I don't drink scotch, but it makes me want to try it. The dessert was also delicious. I'm not sure five stars is enough when you get great service and great food!
We went to The Scotch and Vine to celebrate our anniversary and as usual, they did not disappoint. We made a reservation and all of our requests were accomodated. The service was exceptional, especially considering they had a broken fridge the day prior (St. Patrick's Day) and much of their product had spoiled. We didn't even notice the delay in getting our food because the ambience is so great and we were in no rush. The chef, however, still came out to our table to personally apologize for the delay and bought us a dessert! It was a superb evening and we will definitely return in the near future.
Great tasting food in a comfortable environment with attentive staff on hand. I have zero complaints other than having to leave at some point. I had the ribeye and my fiancee had the special which was mahi mahi. We both had a couple of drinks and they were delicious. The check afterwards was $80-100 less than what we would have paid for at a "high high end" establishment and I believe the food was just as good or better than the last couple times I ate at one.
The food is good but my vegetables and potatoes were salty. The steak was very good however. The evening started out poorly when we asked to be seated at a regular table not a high table with bar stools. The hostess stated that we should have requested a regular table when we made our reservations. How would we know?? They have a large selection of whiskeys but our server would not give me a list of the selections until I physically went to the bar to see what they offered.
We enjoyed the actual meal but the service is unpolished.
