The Scotch and Vine - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
The cheese was the best part ofthe meal - we chose two kinds as an appetizer and loved it - the ossobucco was good but short on meat - lot of it was bones and loaded with potatoes - pork chop my wife had was nicely cooked but it seemed the spices were just a little off - along with very peppery at gratin
Food was really good and reasonably priced for the quality but why I really go is to try different kinds of Scotch. That is where it gets pricey. Even common Scotch varieties are priced 10% to 15% above other restaurants. You can expect to pay 20% to 25% of the cost of a full bottle for just one 1 1/2 oz shot and flights are even more overpriced, but if variety is your goal then this is your spot. I would go much more often if the Scotch was more reasonably priced. Love Tara, best waitress ever!
Our party of 4 visited because of Seattle Restaurant Week. The menu selections were varied and interesting. All the food was excellent and the selection of scotch was impressive. Service was well timed and understated. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.
Our first time to this restaurant with friends. Three of us had steak dishes that were out of this world. Perfectly cooked to order and melt in your mouth. One order of lamb chops that disappeared in record time. As we were celebrating a special occasion, our server suggested a very nice bottle of champagne. Overall prices are moderate for the quality of food. We will be back to sample more of this menu in the near future!
Made reservations for six for a birthday celebration. Manager called a few days later and asked if we'd like the upstairs room which we took. Ended up being one of the best dining experiences we've ever had! Tara provided exceptional service all evening and the food was above average! Will definitely continue to dine at this restaurant!
The service was very slow. It took 15 min for the waitress to take our drink order. The water was warm and not refilled consistently. After some prompting the waitress did share her knowledge of scotch and wine to order with our meal. The redeeming factor of this meal was the food. All three course where amazing! Food was served on hot plates and proteins where tender and not over cooked.
Me and my girlfriend, have been looking forward to going to the Scotch and Vine for awhile, and it was such an awesome experience. We never had scotch before and our server, Chris, was very knowledgeable to help us out. The decor was amazing, the food was mind blowing. We're definitely coming back.
Dined here via "Dining Around Seattle" as we were looking for a destination in the south end. The ambiance of the room is just lovely. Small, local restaurant, comfortable lighting and great service.
Chris, our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly without hovering. The Old Fashioned my friend enjoyed was "perfect" and she is hard to please. The wine list is quite small but the Syrah was very good. We had the sirloin (perfect rare) and Osso Bucco (large enough for 2). Desert choices were expanded by Chris to include all the restaurant's offerings so we ordered the cheesecake and Uninterrupted Chocolate. Both were fantastic. I also recommend having Chris make you an Irish Coffee to enjoy with your desert. It was every bit as good as the ones made at the Buena Vista in San Francisco. We will be back.
This is the place for an amazing scotch and bourbon selection. They're a lot weaker on the vine side. We only tried the burgers this time which were really good. I would have given it 4 stars had it not been for the self centered client unfriendly host. The young man is not helping the front of the house.
Our server was great. Told him it was our first time there. He offered suggestions and they were perfect. My wife's pork chop was awesome. (She gave me a bite & she kept raving about it). My steak was seasoned perfectly. Our son really liked his burger as well. My wife & son also got dessert. Both chocolate. They loved them. We're going back as soon as we get a chance.
It took 20 minutes for the appetizers to come out. We ordered the meat and cheese plat as well as fried cheese, so I'm not sure why it took so long. The service was just okay. We had to remind the server to refill our water. The food is good, but I don't think I would go back due to the time it took us ot get our food, and the lack of attentive ness by our server.
Nicole provided amazing service which added to the overall ambience. The music selection was great and the lighting was very romantic and personal. The food was fantastic and the drinks were perfectly complementary. We had the sirloin skewer and olive starter and followed that with the lamb shanks and seared chicken. Portions were very generous and cooked perfectly. This was a perfect date night choice. The wine and beer suggestions were spot on. I would highly recommend to anyone and I will definitely be a returning patron of this fine establishment!
Great food, wine, scotch/whiskey and pairings. Our server Chris was attentive and helpful. The menu was clearly created by the same sort of people who have the skill (gift?) for the complex interplay of flavors required for wine & scotch tasting. That said, it was not stuffy. We felt comfortable walking in the door. The ambiance and location are quite nice. They say 200+ single malts & 200+ wines. We liked the scotch flights; we chose a nice bottle of wine over the tasting. All were very good. Our group of 6 was comfortable visiting (not too noisy.) Oh, and be careful of the delicious dessert menu too. Let’s keep supporting good local businesses!
I have been here several times and the menu has changed over the course of my visits. The wait staff was well versed in mixology and had a tremendous understanding of both the menu and beverage lists.I would recommend making reservations on Fridays and Saturdays. It seems that my quaint little find has been discovered by many and it can be difficult to get in the restaurant. However, the staff is very accommodating and they rally to clear tables and seat waiting clients.
Seating: We got there and were immediately seated, because of our reservation. A couple who was already there waiting for a table, had to wait another 45+, so make a reservation if you're going here! The host was very friendly and welcoming.
Service: The bartender approached our table and asked what we'd like for drinks. It was a bit odd because he ended up being our server, but never introduced himself as such. I had to ask about specials, which he was not familiar with and therefore did not recommend (even though they sounded delicious to me). The gal refilling water and delivering food had to bring us utensils twice because they were not provided to begin with and taken away after apps. The service was good overall and very friendly, but I feel like some of the staff were trying to fill too many shoes and got confused. Also, if the wait staff don't know the specials that is an issue. In a restaurant like this, they should be tasting the special every shift so they can recommend/describe it.
Food: We had pork belly app and scallop app. Both great. We split a Popeye salad, which was easily big enough and delicious enough to have as a main course. I had the makers mark pork chop and my husband had the owners meal (filet), meat was done to perfection on both. Both came with potatoes au gratin which would have been fabulous except we thought they were way over salted. The seasonal veg of green beans was delicious.
Drink: Basil lemondrop and RI Manhattan ×2 both fabulous!
It was my first time. Food was great except for gnocchi which was dense and rubbery. Service not good. Passing cutlery across one of my guests to another. Waiting endlessly for white wine we ordered. Bringing out salad entrée with appetizers. I took the grandkids to IHOP the next morning for breakfast and the wait staff there were a 100% better. Time to retrain the staff!!
We were taking our adult children out for a pre-Christmas dinner. The service was very slow.
I think there were only two wait people working that night, and the restaurant was almost - if not
completely - full. Our appetizers arrived, and then our entrees came shortly thereafter, which didn't give us any time to enjoy the appetizers. Several of our entrees were lukewarm upon arrival. This experience won't keep us from going back, as we really enjoyed our previous visits. But my
husband and I were disappointed that our children didn't get to see the charm of this restaurant.
