Always worth the drive from Seattle for this sweet spot in Des Moines!
Had a wonderful time as usual
Our server was awesome! He was attentive and gave us plenty of time at the end of the evening to finish our meals and vino.
our waiter seemed to be having an off day, he forgot a few things and had to go back to the Kitchen a few times to find out.
It was a Sunday, night and I will say don't go here on a Sunday. They were out of Cheesecake, they didn't have any pies and they were out a few few other regular menu items.
The worst part is that they have taken the fried pickles off of the dinner menu, we were really looking forward to these. I really hope they put them back on the dinner menu. They are very good and one of the thing we have come back for.
Wonderful date night dinner with friends! Made a reservation based on other reviews but found that Sunday night it may not be necessary. A few tables for seating outside but they get snatched up fast. Will definitely be back! Great food, too!
I always have a great time at Scotch and Vine and tonight was no different. Great food, drinks and our waiter Nate was very personable and knowledgeable. Thank you for making our time enjoyable.
We've been visiting this restaurant since the year it opened. Great atmosphere, good food and wine and drinks and if you have a special but small event the upstairs accommodations are a reflection of how the main dining room feels.
Everyone had an excellent time here for our wedding reception and the owners and staff were extremely helpful and accommodating.
This is honestly one of my favorite places to eat in Washington. The food and ambiance are always amazing! The prices are great too for the amount of food you get. This place could honestly put a lot of the more expensive Seattle restaurants to shame!
Everything was great. Food was good and prepared with care; service was good, attentive, quick, and friendly. Good place to get drink flights if you're not sure what you like.
We're so delighted we tried this little gem in Des Moines. The cheese helpings on the charcuterie boards were large and lovely. There was some live music that just added to the fun and great atmosphere. Hopefully this is a trend for others to follow in Des Moines, for great food and drinks.
Brought my cousin for dinner there a while back and when she came into town again she wanted to go back taking her husband with us. They both loved it.
Wonderful service and food! Our server also bartends and his knowledge of the whiskey/scotch selection was appreciated.
Don't know why it closed but the food was good
Cozy place with a menu that needs to be examined so many options. Wait staff very accommodating with food to much excellence!
We had a phenomenal dinner! We started with Champagne Cocktails -- the best I have ever had. Their wine selection is extensive. We had two bottles of cabernet that were full-bodied and well-priced. The prime rib was incredibly tender and juicy. I loved the mashed potatoes (very creamy) and vegetables (cooked to perfection). We ended this memorable meal with a slice of blueberry cheesecake -- OMG! Definitely a 5-star experience!
I love this place. They have scotch I have never heard of. Everything is always top notch here.
Brought some friends to introduce them to the Scotch and Vine. No one was disappointed. After some apatisers and bourbon we ordered. They had the fresh Halibut and shrimp fettuccine. My wife and I had the owners meal. All was excellent and cooked perfect. The waitstaff was wonderful and helpful with great suggestions and very attentive. I asked the couple the next day how the seafood was. They said it was excellent, but when they saw our fillets comeout they were in "meat envy" (his words). We will keep bringing people to this our favorite as it has never let us down.
This spot never disappoints us. There are few spots like it in the south end, and it is a favorite of ours!
This local gem is a true treat for those in search of good food and great libations - served with courteous staff - in an unpretentious atmosphere. Our favorite!
I always love coming to the Scotch & Vine for brunch or dinner. They have great drinks and fantastic food. You can certainly find something on the menu to please your palate.
I have been is hospitality 30 years so I set the bar high when I dine out. We were warmly greeted, with a reservation check we were then seated. We were given menus ( your online menu needs to be updated). I was disappointed the spinach salad was not an option. So I had asked and was told Chef removed it. So I ordered a bowl of smoked tomato soup and the steak salad. My other half had a burger. When the order came I received a cup of soup, at that point I did not say anything, salad was served with croutons around the plate and four very thin slices of flat iron steak, dressing on the side. The salad looked lonely, lacking color and flavor, the meat was tough. My partner noticed there was a starter spinach salad, which was never mentioned. It did not taste like the lettuce was washed. The burger looked great, potatoes were good but greasy. Overall disappointed, server was not on his game, or did not seem interested. Cute place but who is minding the store?
Great place. It gets a little too loud to talk on live music nights but other than this I highly recommend it!
We received a confirmation email. However when we arrived there was a note on the door that they were closed. Very disappointed!
Amazing Cheese selection, Amazing Steak, Love the cheese butter on top, Amazing Scotch and wine selection, and the service was great! We were the last people in the place at closing time and the server made sure to come over and tell us to take our time. Definitely going back!!!
Really enjoyed the meal. Parking was very frustrating.
We brought some friends for dinner and they enjoyed it so much we came back again the next night.
We love this restaurant so I chose it for my husbands birthday. Our son joined us, it was his first time there. The food is downright amazing, some of the best you will get anywhere at any price. They have a nice range of choices, including some real comfort food and the wine list is great. I don't drink scotch, but it makes me want to try it. The dessert was also delicious. I'm not sure five stars is enough when you get great service and great food!
Overall the food was excellent. I had a steak and it was a little under cooked for a medium. It would be nice if the menus were clean rather than stained with food and coffee. Just makes for a better presentation.
We went to The Scotch and Vine to celebrate our anniversary and as usual, they did not disappoint. We made a reservation and all of our requests were accomodated. The service was exceptional, especially considering they had a broken fridge the day prior (St. Patrick's Day) and much of their product had spoiled. We didn't even notice the delay in getting our food because the ambience is so great and we were in no rush. The chef, however, still came out to our table to personally apologize for the delay and bought us a dessert! It was a superb evening and we will definitely return in the near future.
Friendly service, excellent food. Try their signature Gumbo. $$
