The Scolt Head
Come to the Scolt Head for ale, good wine and great food.
We booked our table for 6.30 on a Saturday, not realising there would be football on and the pub would be packed, although the dining area was empty. This of course impacted on the atmosphere somewhat as we were expecting more of a sedate neighbourhood gastropub where we could have a quietish meal. The dining room filled up after the football finished and people started eating. Food was perfectly fine pub grub – the chicken pie looked pleasingly homemade and was tasty and a smoked mackerel starter was a decent-sized portion and seemed very good quality. We had a nice evening, the staff were pleasant despite getting very busy later, and there was no pressure to vacate our table.
Roasts are outstanding. The staff are attentive. Advise to book a table.
Cracking Sunday roast, the meal is always well balanced and excellent value.
Great pub food and friendly efficient service. Child friendly
Excellent as always
I live locally and don’t know why I have never been for a Sunday roast before! This pub is a neighbourhood gem. The decor is authentic but it’s a great place for some really tasty comfort food, impeccable service and great value for money. The terrine starter was probably the best I’ve ever had and the Sunday roast had a sublime melt in the mouth taste - I would have preferred my beef pinker but appreciate this doesn’t appeal to all but it still didn’t disappoint. The sticky toffee was a little burnt and would have tested better with custard - but you can’t have everything. Oh and the wine menu is really good value for London!
Always a great spot for Sunday lunch. Good vibes, pleasant staff. One of the best pubs in the area.
My Parents were visiting, good venue
Great pub, lovely decor, and fantastic value food.
A lovely little local pub with great indoor and outdoor seating. Food was lovely and the service was very good. Would recommend.
The Scolt Head is everything you'd want in a pub - fun and lively without being too noisy, friendly service, delicious food and just an all-round winner. New favourite pub.
Kind staff. Food was very good. The atmosphere was lively but not too noisy. A great spot for a friends' get together.
Food and ambiance was great and service was very friendly but a little too slow and had to cancel dessert order. Would recommend and will be back but have plenty of time.
Favourite local pub. I’m there once a week at least. Staff is super friendly and the general vibe of the pub is great.
Nice vegan options 👌🏼
Nice place. Good Sunday afternoon.
christ! I said something nice and thats not good enugh for you ay
Im not writing any more as Im not a critic, write your own stuff for goodness sake!
We've been eating at this pub probably every 2 months for 3 or 4 years. The food is always very good, apart from a veggie burger which (not surprisingly) was less than perfect. The beers are excellent, prices reasonable and the staff always make us welcome. Perfection in a local pub.
Excellent atmoshere, marvellous staff, amazing food
Nice food and service, pub bit loud, had to shout a bit to e heard, but there was football on.
Casual atmosphere, great service from laid back chaps, very decent food in a good old pub. Yeah.
The burger and fench fries that i had were excellent as was the veggie burger that my wife had. Vegetarian curry was described by our companion as very tasty. Chilli con carne was lovely. Good selection of cheese and tasy sticky toffèe pudding to finish. All reasonably priced. Service was friendly and efficient.Very goodvalue for money. Would definately recommend
Bad atmosphere, average food, wrong order arrived for both food and beers, disinterested staff, not a good experience.
I wanted to take American work colleagues to Sunday dinner. We had a lovely roast with all the trimmings. The food was absolutely delicious, it was so well made with a lovely balance of flavours and really filling. Our dessert was also excellent and the waitress serving us was very friendly and helpful. Overall a top experience for us and my US friends loved it.
Had Sunday lunch and meat options were all roasts. All well prepared and presented. Good consideration (e.g. a cushion to sit on!) for my grandson.
Great pub and food, did smell a bit of wet dogs but that might be because there were two wet dogs in the pub....
We eat here on a fairly regular basis and have never been disappointed.
Great place! Good food and Service. I requested a good table ad space by the window, and was granted. Thank you again for lovely lunch.
NOT ONLY A NICE LOCATION, BUT GREAT FOOD AND FRIENDLY STAFF.
EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT
Both the menu choices and the food are very good at the Scolt's Head. There are always fish options and a vegetarian option. The service is friendly but not always super efficient. It is noisy in the dining room and the accoustics make conversation slightly tricky. Lovely food though.
Second time here and just as enjoyable. Sensible short menu, good food and friendly service
Best roast in London! Would recommend to everyone!
Friendly staff, great food, relaxed atmosphere. Had a Sunday roast with a few friends and between us tried everything and was all delish!
I live near the Scolt Head but haven't had a chance to eat there - I went along for dinner with friends last Saturday before going out in Dalston. I wasn't expecting the food to be as fantastic as it was - I'd really recommend the chicken pie (one of the best I've had - the pastry was crunchy on the outside and soft inside). We sat down at 9.30pm - the kitchen closes at 9.45pm so you need to order quickly - the music was good, it's a lively pub, and we're definitely going to go back again soon.
Great for dinner with friends. Interesting menu. Food well presented and enjoyable to eat. Good house red wine and friendly prompt service.
First time there. Found on Open table website. Sensible short menu. Excellent food and very friendly service. A great find
The food was very nice and it felt very christmassy!!
When I arrived with a pram, I told the lady who was serving me that out of the 5 of us, there would be 3 prams. She immediately started reorganising the tables making enough room for us. It was the 16th December, so a very busy time for them and they were so helpful! Delicious food too. A really great lunch for all of us and our babies. Thanks again.
Tasty food and lovely, friendly server, at a very reasonable price.
Great casual dining and pub atmosphere. Perfect for meeting friends or dinner dates.
Service was slow. We had dining room table near-ish the bar and it got very loud after 8pm. Food was however superb.
Awful food. Burger shouldn't have been served the bun base was burnt and inedible. Chicken wings had been seasoned very heavily after cooking with the seasoning you get in the spices section of a supermarket. Chips were from frozen and greasy. Chef clearly doesn't take any pride in his output which is a shame.
I'm local to the pub and it's always a decent place for a pint. Unfortunately I decided to eat here and never again. plenty of better food options within a short walk of this place.
