Tucked away in Wilton's quaint Cannondale Village overlooking the babbling Norwalk river, the restaurant is located inside a schoolhouse built just after the civil war in 1872. The completely renovated and stylish interior reflects the elegant and thoughtful cuisine of Chef Tim LaBant whose focus is on searching out the finest ingredients from both local CT farms and exceptionally passionate farmers from around the nation.

We were seated right in front of the entrance (my partner's back was a few feet from where people entered, which is bad fung shui, and the noise level made it difficult to relax and enjoy the otherwise excellent and beautifully prepared and served meal. The setting is beautiful. I wish they could figure out some sound-deadening for the space and maybe configure the tables slightly differently. We appreciated the care that went into the ingredients and preparation of the food.

A very sweet experience, perfect for anniversary. Small one room schoolhouse that serves amazing farm to table food. Portions are large. Service was at times inattentive but pleasant during interactions. Champagne as chocolate souffle we're delicious. Highly recommend.

The Kitchen and the noise were the big stories here. The food overall was very good, especially for CT. It's a very small place, with very limited seating, hence a fairly limited menu offering. Salads were very fresh, properly dressed and yummy. Risotto was very good, mushroom flavors were terrific. Hangar steak was one of the best cuts of it's kind that I've ever had, BUT a Med Rare order was served blue rare, no follow-up from the wait staff. Wait staff was very friendly but more than a bit overwhelmed (Saturday nite-itis), no bread follow-up from the busboy or beverage service. AND, because of its size, parties of four sounded like parties of twelve, and we were there for the early seating. Easy to see why the Schoolhouse has got some buzz, the food and wine were very enjoyable (even when considering the meat was still walking, it was from a very well respected animal). Will try again on an off night and be a bit more focused with the staff.

Food is imaginative and delicious, using the best, fresh ingredients. This restaurant also has figured out how to create a welcoming, friendly environment, while keeping the noise level to a comfortable, ambient level. We highly recommend for a special occasion or date night.

Our favorite restaurant for "special" occasions. The chef and staff are very accommodating to my wife's VEGAN diet, yet everything was prepared a la minute and was delicious! Not an inexpensive dining option, but totally worth it.

My wife and I took our adult son to The Schoolhouse to celebrate his birthday and we wondered why we hadn't been there before. It has a charming rustic interior and excellent food for an urban palate. We now count it among the top 10 restaurants in Fairfield County.

Meatless Wednesdays are inspired. My husband is vegetarian and we struggle to find him great places to eat that are wholly vegetarian. Chef LaBant really goes all out to find interesting, fresh flavours, with solid protein choices, which leave you feeling comfortably full and satisfied at the end of a fabulous eating experience. The wine list is also excellent as is the collection of beers from local microbreweries. We are going twice this year during its run, and I was so happy to hear that Chef is considering continuing an all vegetarian night on the first Wednesday every month.

This is a lovely spot, overlooking a small creek/river. I went there for brunch with some friends. It was quite expensive for what we got (eggs/quiche/bacon).

Great food, Great service... it’s a bit small, but a terrific dining experience. The chicken liver mousse appetizer and duck entree were exceptional. If you’re a foodie or looking for a top of the line culinary experience, give this place a try.

Disappointing visit. While the creative farm-to-table menu appears inspiring, we felt the presentation resembled "scraps" of food, rather than a meal. We understand " less is more", " fine dining" etc, but this last visit was a culinary fail, in my opinion. Sorry!
