The Savoy Tavern Ratings and Reviews
I️ did not like a single thing I️ got. Everything tasted like it care from the box (which I’m guessing it did seeing that it’s a bar). If you want a beer, this is the place for you.. unless you’re looking for fruity, then it’s on the menu but not actually in stock. I️ spent $60 and I feel cheated.
Short ribs were great but overshadowed by the incredibly slow service. I don't blame the staff but the management, as you can tell they are terribly understaffed. It should not take 20 minutes to get a tap beer...especially when it's your first drink of the evening. Also, if you're not a steakhouse, don't charge $38 for a steak. We won't go back.
My husband and I went for dinner. We sat by the open door on a beautiful night. I ordered the duck, which was a special. It was amazing. It came with sugar snap peas, over sweet potato mash and cranberry chutney. It felt like a Thanksgiving dinner. My husband ordered the steak and enjoyed just as much as I enjoyed our meal. Will definitely go back!!
This was our second time eating at Savoy and it was better than the first. Great wine list. I highly suggest the root beer braised short ribs. The portion sizes were more than we could eat in one sitting so thank you for the leftovers. Savoy is perfect for a romantic dinner.
Not too much to say. Limited seating forced some people to sit in glaring sun. Waitress tried to seat us in the sun for some reason although there were other tables available. We asked for a booth but were told that they were reserved although some remained vacant for the entire time we were there. Mussels with beer/mustard sauce was ok but not great. French dip was like shredded well-done "beef" on a vey large roll...also not great.
First time here. We had a great waitress and I think the manager came by a few times asking how everything was.
Was very impressed that they delivered all 5 entrees at the same time - very nice.
They also waited until everybody was done before clearing our plates.
While the food was good, I did find it to be more on the expensive side. Had I not had a Groupon, I would not have dined here.
I also found the menu to be "somewhat" limited. We went on a Saturday night and they did not have any dinner specials...... I was told the chef was on vacation - not good.
Overall, pretty good and would return as long as I can find a groupon/coupon.
Service was excellent Lisa is a gem, she works very hard. Food was good but not over the top. MUSSELLS WERE awesome and good for sharing. I had the beef dish which I thought to be over cooked. My husband had the pasta and the portions are very generous. Wines were excellent, we had multiple wines with our dinner. No dessert was ordered also no coffee. Bill was high due to wine. Food is a good value and there is alot of it.
We had tickets to Jones Beach Theatre and were looking for a restaurant close to the theatre.
We all ordered different entrees and we enjoyed our meal. My friend especially enjoyed the root beer braised short ribs. My steak was tender and perfectly cooked. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. We will come back and I highly recommend this restaurant.
Started coming here when a favored chef joined the crew. The variety of food, a great beer menu and a friendly and professional staff made for great meals. When the chef left, the bride and I wondered if the quality and consistency would continue. Well it has!!!
We shared the black bean hummus and crab cake appetizers and both were delicious. We both ordered different versions of salmon and both were perfectly prepared. The varied menu is sure to please anyone's craving.
Lastly, the staff is friendly, accommodating and professional. We'll be back for sure.
This place is everything you would want in an American style eatery.
I've been here 5 times. The service is always slow. I took my family of 7 here for Father's Day last week. The waitress was the worse I've ever had anywhere. She took our drink orders and forgot to come back for the entree order. I had to flag her down to get our order in. Then we need refills on our drinks. She took the order and never came back. 10 minutes later I had to go to the bar to find her. She was chatting with the bartender. She admitted that she forgot about our drinks. She brought the drinks out right after. But I was got the wrong beer. She said the next one was on her. The only problem with that was we were leaving. I told my wife I'm getting the free beer and sat at the table alone drinking the free beer.
I will be going back because the food and beer are great. Next time I'm talking to be manger before sitting down.
The food was good for the money, but the noise level was unbearable. This was a Thursday night with not that many people in the restaurant, seated away from the bar, and we could not hear each other speak. Hopefully, the new restaurant will be better in that regard.
We got there with a reservation and had to wait for a table, even though restaurant was almost empty, some people left as they were short staffed. Felt bad for people who were working , not their fault. Went there because , thought chef from Nicholas James Bistro moved over there, but food was not as good. Probably wouldn't go back.
Staff was really friendly and accommodating.
