The best meal we've had all weekend with reasonable prices! Their 4-course tasting menu for $20 was absolutely perfect! I would come back again and again if we lived here! Service was beyond reproach.

Made a reservation and was seated outside. The heaters were sufficient but this definitely took away from the experience.

This was a great meal. The server told us we should expect a great experience since the chef was a James beard winner so we had high expectations. That could be a little dangerous frankly- you can often be disappointed when expectations are set so high. I would say it mostly met our expectations but maybe fell a little short with that prediction of our meal.
We had fried green tomatoes with pulled pork for an appetizer and a farm salad. Both were quite good. The tomatoes with the pork and the pickle was a great little bite. And the salad had everything imaginable in it which I love. We had some cocktails as well and both were good and a good price. There were a lot of great choices which was nice. The margarita was really good. Not too sweet and not sour.
For entrees we had scallops and a short rib type entree. The scallops were good- cooked well and the polenta was very tasty. I’ve had scallops just as good elsewhere but for much higher a price. The short rib was also tasty. I think the standout for us was the value here for the price. Compared to another place we ate a couple of nights later, this was much more reasonably priced and very good. I usually don’t get scallops because I think the cost for 3 little puny scallops is ridiculous at most places. That wasn’t the case here.
We didn’t have room for dessert which was sad because it all sounded so good. Would definitely go back to try some more things.
It was really loud in there- there’s an acoustic problem I think. We could hear conversations a few tables away. Not a quiet romantic place if that’s what you’re looking for. I

Great dinner carmtvhung up with friends from out of town this past weekend! They raved about the food, from deviled eggs and duck-fat fries and our entrees, and straight through the banana beignets and blackberry bread pudding! Had outstanding service. The only improvement would be more restrooms. Been meaning to come back to the Salty Sow and I’m so glad we did.

Enjoyed the food and our server was helpful and knowledgeable about the food and the wine. We were there for happy hour drinks, dinner, and coffee and dessert, (about 2 hours), and never felt rushed.

Wonderful food and great service. Lots of options and fun fusion. A group of four shared apps and entrees and had fun mixing it up. The flavors were wonderful. My only wish is that they had a better bar area to hang while you wait for a table. Our server Katherine was amazing and had lots of recommendations. She rocks!

My husband and I first learned about The Salty Sow through a family member, and after checking out the menu online, we knew we had to try it out! Great appetizers, fantastic beer selection, and uniquely delicious entrees. Parking wasn't really an issue, even though it was crowded. That being said, it was hard to hold a conversation, but it started to quite down a bit after we had ordered our appetizers (the duck fat fries were amazing!!) Portions were very generous, very tasty, and our waiter was helpful in explaining the menu. This place is well worth checking out if you love great food.

Great atmosphere, lovely decor! The servers were attentive and knowledgeable. The food and cocktails were amazing. We had the milk braised pork butt and beef shoulder. The meats were so tender and flavors were close to perfection. Great date night spot. Can't wait to go again!

It was my first time to visit. the menu was diverse. We shared appetizers which was plenty for us. i am a vegetarian, my wife is not. I found a few choices that I enjoyed and she found plenty. When we first arrived - for happy hour, the noise level was nice. By the time we left the noise had increased which was understandable considering the place was packed. We will return.

Terrible service. Male waiter with great hair and a big beautiful beard (highlight of our meal) was rude and unaccommodating. He ruined the entire meal/experience for us. Treated us like children. Easily the worst dining experience I've ever had in Austin. Will not be returning.

The food was the highlight which is why I chose to go to the Salty Sow. The place and atmosphere were disappointing. This is the problem with making reservations online. You don’t know what kind of table you’ll get because there is no way to know, or state a preference, about the options. Sitting on a high metal stool next to plastic “walls” flapping in the cold wind is not my idea of fine dining which the wonderful food deserves. The tables were close together and one table spoiled the whole porch with their loud conversation. I fail to understand why the staff feels unable to remind their guests to use “inside “ voices. It is so unfair to others trying to have their own conversations. Must we all shout? This not a bar and not a cheap place. Go on a slow night and eat in the “front” room... and enjoy a delicious, beautifully presented meal.

I love everything about the Salty Sow! This was my second time to dine here and I will be back regularly. Luckily, I arrived in time for happy hour and was able to sample several of the small bite plates. All of the food was excellent and the service is wonderful. I highly recommend the Salty Sow for any dinner occasion.

Their chicken liver mousse and Brussel sprout leaves are two of my favorite foods. Eggplant fries and carnitas taco were meh. My fiancé had the wagyu cheeseburger and duck fat fries and said it was very good. I had the milk braised pork butt, with white beans and escarole. I’ve had this dish before and enjoyed it. This time the meat was pretty bland and the white beans were not fully cooked. When I mentioned the beans to our waiter, he said that they are supposed to be al dente as a contrast to the meat, but that I was not the first to point that out to him. If you are going to have al dente beans, put on the menu that they are al dente. I wouldn’t have ordered that dish if I had know the beans would be crunchy. I don’t remember crunchy beans from when I’ve had this dish before. It is insanely loud here. I love this place though. Great happy hour. Also, I’ve had the beef shoulder before and it was really good.

What a great spot! They did a great job making a cozy atmosphere in there. We went for happy hour, and I definitely recommend it! Get the $5 tacos (the catfish taco was the best!), the Brussels sprout leaves, the fried chicken, and the eggplant fries. For drinks we tried the Salty Sow’r and the Moscow Sow, bot we’re fantastic! We spent a total of $55 and had a great time. Well worth it! If we were from around here, we would definitely come back!

Always a great dining experience at salty sow. We started with oysters, duck fat fries and a charcuterie board which was lovely. Then our party of six ordered their own entrees. We had the farmers salad special, collard greens, chicken thighs, hash and duck. Everything was well prepared and tasty’

Have been here several times. Always enjoy the cocktails and the appetizers. They seem to be the most creative things on the menu. Also a good wine list. This time we ordered the dirty fries which sounded good but th execution was not very good. The pieces of pork were huge chewy chunks that were more of a nuisance to eat than a tasty addition to the fries. The pork should have been diced much more finely. Also applies to the jalapeños that were on the dish. Very big pieces that didn’t mix in and therefore didn’t contribute to the dish. We also tried the salmon rillete this time and wouldn’t recommend it. The chicken liver mousse is a much better option. Service was good and everything else was pretty good.

Was pleasantly surprised by the price, volume and quality of the tasting menu. The cocktails and beer/wine menus were nice.

The dining room we were in had a bit of a housefly and fruitfly problem. One landed in my husband’s beer. :/

Other than that and the noise level, we enjoyed it!
