The Salt Creek Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
I could not rate this restaurant, read why...Call the restaurant before you go and confirm your table as well as going through the hassel of parking in downtown Breckenridge. I made a lunch reservation through OpenTable. The restaurant was closed, yet on the OpenTable site the hours of opperation were listed as being open for lunch.
I'll give this restaurant another try next time I'm in Breck.
This was a good dining experience overall. Food was good (not great), but the service and ambiance made up for it. It is a nice, cozy little mountain town restaurant. Just what we were hoping for so were not disappointed. The food is prices about 10 - 20% too high in my opinion considering the quality. But with limited dining options in town they can get away with it. Overall our experience was positive and I will definitely consider dining there again.
Given the cost this is a great restaurant. Our entry's were all great and we had a mixture. The only problem was OpenTable's, not Salt Creek's -- Salt Creek didn't receive our reservation from Open Table until we had been at the restaurant for 30 minutes. In short, there are better steak houses in Breckenridge, but they are much more expensive. We like this place.
This restaurant was recommended by former patrons. There was only our table and one other table occupied on a Sunday Evening. We both ordered the filet; one to be medium well and one medium rare. They were both medium well to well and a bit tough. The baked potato was a bit hard. There was not a lot of flavor to the meat. The waitress tipped the plate and spilled some juice covering the area under the plate. She apologized and said she would wipe it up but didn't. When we ordered dessert, she removed dinner plates but left the table swimming still in juices where she then placed the dessert. We handed her our napkins asking if we could wipe the table. The dessert was crème brule which was grainy instead of creamy and still maybe a bit frozen or just very very cold. The flavor was good. The whole dinner was ok but not great and certainly not worth $100 which didn't include the tip.
The food was mostly poor. The Mahi was extremely dry and overcooked. The calamari was undercooked and the sauce provided was gross. The barbeque ribs were very fatty and full of grizzle. Poor choice for our first stay I'm Breckenridge.
The steak had no flavor, was not cooked medium rare, and was dry. Also ordered baked brie for an appetizer and it was cold in the middle. My wife and I wanted a nice steak dinner to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and were disappointed especially after spending $150. The service was good. Based on my visit I would not recommend this restaurant.
Scheduled early dinner 5pm to celebrate Fathers Day and a birthday. Very quiet, which we like as it was early. By time we left more people were present, but noise level still reasonable. Service was excellent all food outstanding. Ravioli, Salmon, Prime Rip, Salads, and Elk was exceptional . Did not do desert. Thanks to all for an awesome dining experience... We come up often and will be dining with you all again.
I called and there was no message on the voicemail that the shop was closed for the season and then open table still allowed me to make a reservation. Very disappointing. I'll make sure everyone I talk to about it know that I went to Briar Rose and had a fantastic experience there.
It's very frustrating to plan a family trip to Colorado, then book a dinner reservation for 11 people on Open Table only to get there and see that the restaurant is closed for the month. We were scrambling to find an alternative with hungry kids and grandparents. I'm letting you know this so that this situation can be prevented in the future. Thanks.
