I had heard a lot about this place, so I was excited to go (especially for the burger). Also, the summerlicious menu looked great. The place is gorgeous, but was pretty quiet for a Friday night - which is not a great sign. The service was friendly by very slow (I wanted to order more drinks, but they took so long to make and the server dropped by so rarely). When they arrived, the cocktails were delicious and well-priced. The burger did not live up to the hype. The meat was just fine, and there was too much bread in the bread-to-meat-to-toppings ratio. The fries were however very good. Especially disappointing was the dessert - clearly cheap ice cream really brought it down. Overall, I would give it another try - it seems like it could be great, so maybe it was just an off night.

The waitress spilled olive oil on my boyfriends pants, twice. The food was not worth what I paid for. The place was nice enough.

This once fun and lively restaurant feels like it's going out of business. It was very quiet for a Thursday night with only one waitress on for the whole place. The wine list is pathetic, with 6 bottles on it yet only 3 were actually available. The Saint's best days are behind it.

It's a hipster place so I was thrilled that they were so good about having a kid there. Lots of fun and very good food.

Very reasonably priced and the donuts were a standout but we all felt the rest of the food was just ok. Service was good.

Omelet was fluffy and delicious. Coffee good. Sadly the recipe for the cornbread has changed and become sweeter. Which is ok I guess. The potatoes were yummy as always

Overall good and consistent place. My medium rare steak was closer to medium well, and the frites are too thin and cooked to dark and crispy, so not very tasty. The steak quality was good. My friend's medium rare was much better done. Drinks were good and music was great. It wasn't full on a Saturday night, but with a more reasonable menu could be much better.

Upon arrival the host did not even acknowledge or smile just simply walked us over to a table and set the menus down without a word. Our waiter was rude and short and took forever to take our order even though he knew that we were waiting. The food was not bad but the service was the worst service I have ever experienced here in Toronto. I would never go to this restaurant again.

Ossington is over run with wannabe downtown-ers on the weekend lining up at all the rest's we gave good reviews to 6 months ago but thankfully they have yet to find The Saint! Inside you will find a refuge of locals trying to avoid the High Park stroller mom's who terrorize our sidewalks every weekend. It is quiet here, with big booths for 4 and the staff doesn't rush you because there is no line at the door. The food won't knock your socks off but it will cure the remains of your hangover and the brewed coffee is not offensive.

Was looking forward to The Saint, but overall didn't meet our expectations.
Food arrived at different time, some portions were cold.
Fried Chicken was a disaster! way too much fat.
Service, OK. Wouldn't go back to eat, maybe just cocktails.

I booked a reservation at 7:30 on a Sunday for a date. The hostess was excellent, the first server we had was brusque and rude, she took our drink and oyster order. She informed us we could only have some of the oysters we ordered, and walked away. After twenty more minutes our actual server came to our table and asked if we wanted drinks. We said we hoped they were on the way. And could she check on our oyster situation. I asked about specials, she said nothing was cheaper. I clarified that I meant what was the market beef and fish of the day, as it wasn't listed on the menu. Getting this information was a challenge. Forty five minutes after we were seated our drinks and oysters came. The feature cocktails were decent ($13), the oysters were of suspect freshness, improperly shucked and the horseradish, while freshly grated at one point, was rather stale.

We asked for our bill, which I paid, ($40.75), and I commented to my date that I'd rather finish dining elsewhere. The server offered to get the manager, and I explained all of this to him (oscar perhaps?). He apologized, but offered no excuse. He said of course it's on the house, I replied I had already paid. He said, well maybe you'll come back, and told us to have a nice day.

We had an infinitely better dining experience at Pizza Libretto next door.

We had the roast chicken the specialty of the house and it was delicious but $60! Kind of overpriced. The cauliflower with cheese was tasty but nothing special. The beets (which I usually love) were overpowered by garlic.

This place is dark so best at night and in winter.

Given the number of great restos in this city and the limited menu at this establishment I am not rushing back.

Overpriced, a bit. The food wasn't amazing, and with Toronto's incredible food scene this restaurant didn't wow me. My partner had the burger, which came with Bologna and was a bit strange. He ended up just taking it out to enjoy the rest of the burger. I ordered a shaved salad and the bone marrow. The salad was nice, delicate, but a little too small for the price. The bone marrow was fine, but they should give you some more bread to go with it. Overall, a meh experience.

The food was pretty good, especially the beef tenderloin however it took way too long to get our food and even our appetizer. My husband who never complains couldn't believe how slow the service was and thought it was ridiculous. For the price of the food, a restaurant should know better to have impeccable service!

Went here for Valentine's day and had their normal Sunday menu. They had AMAZING sausages that were on special pricing (every Sunday) - our favourite was Duck + Foie Gras as recommended by our server. We also had buck a shuck (every Sundays after 4pm) oysters. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, the food was great and had a good amount of noise to make it feel live. I'd recommend that you ask if a booth is available - there's TV's along the bar so it's a pretty good spot to catch a game too.

We went here for an 8:30 pm reservation on a Wednesday night, and the place was packed. Friendly and somewhat overwhelmed staff sat us at the bar to wait since we got there a bit early. We ordered cocktails from the list and before they were made were seated at our table. They brought the drinks over and transferred our bar bill very easily.

I had the potato soup, burger and chocolate pudding for dessert. The food was delicious. Would definitely come back, and the value for the winterliscious menu was one of the best I've seen.

Had a great experience here.
My parents came in from out of town and the staff was welcoming, the ambiance great for everyone-including my father who has a hard time hearing at times. The servers were kind, patient and helped make the evening.
Keep it up!

Winterlicous menu plus a few drinks is about $100. Not bad, standard date night pricing. The food was good as were the drinks. The service was better than most in the queen west area (not too pretentious). Id go again, but probably just for drinks - not that there's anything wrong with the food, but the restaurant is a drinks place at heart.

as the menu shown was not actually offered at the restaurant. The menu shown for Winterlicious was for the previous year and not for the current year! And they did not offer to add the menu items that they now omitted - which was a major disappointment as I actually came for them. However I had the trout and it was ok but my companion had the chicken and it was excellent. The dessert was this pudding that was not very good however. And the wedge salad was a hunk of iceberg lettuce and not the peirogie that I would have preferred that was not omitted from the menu - again lessening the value. It seemed most diners ordered the burger and it seemed to be appreciated. I might go back to try the burger and the dumplings but for the winterlicious experience I was disappointed.

Loved The Saint when we first discovered it a couple years ago. I loved the Steak Frites! But then they changed everything, and that item became just meh and we stopped going. Ditto for their fried chicken, which my wife loved.

We decided to try the place again the other night to see if things were better. I had their Cheeseburger. It was just average, or below average if you factor in the $19 price. (The Federal's burger is the new standard for me.)

Our server tried to be fancy in holding and pouring our $55 bottle of red. Some of it spilt on the table, which I'm sure she didn't notice.

Probably won't go back.

We came here for Winterlicious. I ordered the wedge salad, fried chicken and chocolate pudding. The fried chicken was super moist and the portion was good. The chocolate pudding wasn't too sweet. I wasn't too fond of the salad. My friend ordered the potato soup with the saint burger. The saint burger was awesome especially the fries. I would definitely come here again for drinks and food. The tables are way too small though! Good to hang out with your girlfriends.

Went here for the first Sunday of the winterlicious promo. First time at this restaurant and had heard great things, unfortunately for us this wasn't the case.

We found the appetizer of potato soup tasting like sour cream and it wasn't very good. The main courses were fine, but not memorable and the dessert of chocolate pudding was quite soupy.

We also found the service quite slow, as our cocktails arrived after the main course and that it took quite awhile for food to arrive. Even thought it really wasn't busy when we arrived.

The cocktails did taste very good, which is always a plus.

Food was great! I had always wanted to try The Saint because a friend had recommended a while back. I finally had the opportunity to go! In one line, I would say: order the pierogies for sure and do not order the fried chicken.

It was a a bit dark inside but the ambience was nice and the interior is beautiful... like a vintage/hipster/artsy pub with beautiful wood and dim lighting.

It was just my friend and myself so we weren't completely sure how much food to order. We ordered the pierogies and it was amazing. It was definitely our favourite dish of the night. The flavour was amazing - the sautéed onions and the sour cream sauce that went along with the dish just made the dish absolutely divine! We were pleasantly shocked since we were on the fence about the pierogies.

We also ordered the duck nuggets which were pretty good as well. The meat was nice and tender but tasted very similar to gourmet chicken nuggets. However, the dipping sauce was very unique and tasteful. It was a mixture of pineapple and southwest (?). The dipping sauce definitely made the dish. The cheesesteak tartare was also delicious but nothing spectacular.

We decided to order an entree halfway through our apps. We ordered the fried chicken. The fried chicken itself was very tasteful. The meat was tender, not too fatty but not too dry. The fried part was fresh (I find that some restaurants reuse their oil and the fried part tastes oily, but not the case at all). The only disappointment was the sauce. It was a bit bland; did not have much taste. The pieces of pickled watermelon helped but only slightly. I WOULD NOT recommend this dish and probably not order it again.

As always, we enjoyed our dinner at the Saint. Saturday at 7 pm not overly busy on arrival. relatively attentive service but after orders were placed slooooow service. Thought they went out to buy ingredients. We left satisfied but tired after 2 and a half hours for dinner.
