The Saddle Room Ratings and Reviews
Great place to eat and unique decorative style. They go above and beyond to make sure they take extra precautions if you have allergies. They gave us a sample of their special appetizer. Manager stopped by our table to make sure everything was good. I would definitely go back again.
They've thought of everything when designing The Saddle Room. The ambiance is beautiful. It's rustic yet chic. It's open & warm & the food is amazing!
I've been there during the summer & the outdoor area is wonderful! There's a pond & a fireplace w/plenty of seating.
Love this place!
Enjoyed our visit to Saddle Room. The food is different than your average restaurant. I had the Smoky Gnocchi with Carnitas. It was finished with a dollop of creme fraiche - really good. I would recommend if you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary.
This restaurant is not even close to be ready for prime time. Host/manager barely looked us in the eye - whether apologizing for the wait (on a reservation) or just wishing us a nice meal (which felt very contrite after not looking at us and waiting 20mins for a reserved table). Server did the best she could but she said the bar was slammed. Really? 8p on a Sat and they are surprised and overwhelmed at the amount of drinks ordered?? That’s mgmt’s fault not staffing properly. Cmon guys - Sat at prime time and you’re getting slammed?? Not acceptable. We actually left after our first drinks toile 15mins and went somewhere else where we were attended to and drinks/food were great. Keep working on it, Saddle Room. Even though the richies from S Barrington are coming now, might get impatient over next several months. Pls take my comments to heart and improve, thanks.
The food is amazing!! I'm still craving more days later. Can't wait to go back and enjoy a martini on the couch by the fire. I brought my friend there for her 40th b day. The only criticism I have is that they didn't acknowledge it. I didn't want them to sing of course but they asked if I was celebrating anything when I made the reservation.
Service was awful. very slow... waiter disappeared for almost 30 minutes. No drink service during this time. had to ask someone else for another round of drinks. followed by our waiter slamming them down on the table when he brought them out. We were seated at 5:30 pm. ordered right away, we have kids. Finally at almost 7pm. we asked the manager walking around if everything was alright, our waiter disappeared again, and it's been more then an hour wait on food. (restaurant not crowded) He ran back to the kitchen. dinner was then brought out by 4 different servers. My pork flight was delivered at room temperature. (awful). My mother in law sent her fish back, it was barely warm as well, and It was way under cooked. I told the waiter that my pork was barely warm to the touch. he just said ok. a few minutes later he brought the check. No one asked if we wanted another cocktail, or a dessert menu. We had five adults and two kids, So the check was around $250. it would of been a lot more if we were allowed to order dessert, or if the waiter would of asked if we would of liked another drink. also My five year old is still waiting for his chocolate milk refill that he ordered. ( it's not fun trying to explain to a five year old why the waiter will not bring his drink.)
I Understand that this horrible meal out was entirely my fault, I chose this restaurant... My wife wanted to go to Wildfire. So I left the restaurant upset, and hungry. (i didn't eat the awful pork flight) I am now making reservations for wildfire in hope of making it up to my wife for her birthday dinner that was a disaster.
The sad part is this restaurant has been amazing in the past. yes, I have been there before and it was fine. I won't make that mistake again.
1 happy customer tells one or two people. 1 upset customer tells everyone the know...
The restaurant was virtually empty since it was late on a Monday and we were sat next to a very loud drunk couple. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the ambiance however we should have been sat by ourselves since there were only 3 tables that were occupied. It was a very delicious and unusual meal and a very romantic setting. The drinks could have bee a bit larger. We will definitely recommend.
Nice restaurant. We would not have gone here or actually even known about it except we received a $100 gift card from a non-profit benefit we recently attended and that is why we came. It is far more expensive than we would otherwise spend on a night out. However, over all it was a pleasant experience. Very good service and enjoyed our meals.
We went to the Saddle room on 1/6/18 and did not have a very good experience. Interestingly, we were there on 12/15/17 and everything was great. We ordered the croquettes as an appetizer and they were over cooked. Very dark brown in color they were left in the fryer too long. We've ordered them before so we knew what they were supposed to look and taste like. We had to ask our server for bread which we understand is complimentary. We would have forgotten about it all together had we not noticed that other tables were being served. Things did not improve with our entrees. A couple of us ordered the Smoky Gnocchi and realized part way thru eating the dish that the main ingredient, the carnitas, was missing. My son had the Pork Farfalle and notice that it had a really skimpy amount of pork in the dish. It was also too sweet for a pasta dish. My wife had the Jambalaya which was probably the best dish we ordered. We understand it wasn't a traditional version of Jambalaya but you may want to warn your guests that its a pasta dish. We are on the fence about whether we'd come back to the Saddle Room again. It has a great ambience and can be a nice dining experience but given the price you're paying you shouldn't have the experience we had.
Only 1 of 4 diners enjoyed their meal (and that was a simple cheeseburger). The butternut squash soup was one of the worst my wife had ever tried, my son’s steak was positively raw (asked for medium, it was completely bloody). My ribeye was OK.
I’ve eaten here in the past and it was much better. Not sure if is was an off night for them or what but based on this experience I doubt I’ll be back.
Didn’t know much about the place but was nearby and decided to grab a late dinner. We immediately loved the ambiance upon entering and the large open fireplace adjacent to our table was quite a welcome perk, given how cold it was (5 deg. F).
The “impressing” continued with our very knowledgeable, yet unassuming waiter ( Andrew ).
His recommendations and descriptions of the entrees made our eyes widen and our mouths water. We went with his recommendations on several dishes and the eats did not disappoint. Presentation and food temperatures were excellent and the wine recommendation was perfect as well. This was a great find. It’s a little bit on the pricey side but I can assure you we will be back!
Saddle Room was highly recommended to us and so we thought we would try it. The food overall was ok - was expecting a better steak based on the review from friends. We were also put in an area to the back of the restaurant that was extremely dark and a vent was blowing directly on us which made it uncomfortable as we got too warm.
I had high expectations and was excited about going to The Saddle Room after looking at their menu online, interesting flavor combinations and a well rounded menu. The service was great and the atmosphere was really nice, but the food fell flat for me and my dinner guests. The presentation was very nice but all of the dishes lacked flavor...except the dipping sauce for the calamari, that was really good. I expected to and was more than happy to spend a lot of money on our meal based off of the menu items, but felt like it was a great waste of money and time driving there in the snow, on Christmas Eve, for a tasteless meal. I wanted to love it, but I have since cancelled my New Years Eve reservation (I booked Christmas Eve and NYE at the same time).
From when we walked into the restaurant and as we walked out, greeted and congratulated on our anniversary. Food was great, to the chief and cooks it was delicious. Managers walked around and served few samples. Steve our serve (can’t remember :( his name) was great. Pregnant wife always had her cup of ice water which is a must 😂. Thank you again for desert.
Excellent! They own the Turf Room which is also Excellent 2 fabulous places in the suburbs and you don't have to go Downtown! Try it! They offer 4 soups homemade daily they are ridiculous so good even in the summer! We had steaks, salad, flatbread and desert! Fantastic!
