We are at the Inn at least once or two times a month. Our food is always amazing as it was last night. However, I wasn’t crazy about our service. Our server was less than enthusiastic. I started off the evening with having my wine poured for me to pouring it myself by the end of the evening. I also felt the menu choice we asked for could have been accommodated but wasn’t. Our desserts were delish, and we still had a wonderful time.
See you in April
Always great. Each course brilliant and delightful. You cannot ask Dora better dining experience anywhere.
Had the halibut as a main course and it was wonderful. We all had the tuna special as an app. and it was bland. Not terrible but just blah. Love the place and will be back.
Wonderful food and service !
When we were placing our preferred beverage order and we specified San Pellegrino sparkling water we were informed the restaurant had a tap water filtration system which could either be a flat or sparkling option. There were numerous special appetizers and entrees explained in depth by our server and the price noted after each explanation. Needless to say I was shocked when my bill came and I was charged $16.00 for the glorified NJ tap water we were served. Note there was never any mention of this fee when my request for the San Pellegrino choice was summarily denied. I guess the restaurant chooses to recapture the cost of their water system by gouging their clientele (and unannounced I may add). I frequented this establishment under the previous ownership but will never return.
one of the best restaurants in the area. Amazing food and atmosphere.
Great as always
Awesome tasting menu and very attentive staff. You need to bring your own wine so bring two bottles. Great experience!
Wonderful experience. Best service in northern NJ and the food was outstanding... again.
Awesome dinner with excellent service
Lived up to the hype. Getting reservations here was a huge pain. But in the end it was worth it. Service was great. Food perfectly timed Food was very good. Portions were generous but not oversized. Would definitely comeback.
By far this is the best meal I have eaten. My husband and I have gone to Michelin rated restaurants as well as 5 star restaurants. We pride our selves on being foodies and Saddle River Inn blew those places away. We are both still talking about how wonderful the food was. The atmosphere is cozy and the wait staff is very attentive. If you have the opportunity to go here, don't hesitate.
First rate. Best in ares
Excellent food and excellent service
This was one of the best restaurants my wife and I have visited -- on par, in our opinions, with Chez Catherine in Westfield, the Ryland Inn in Whitehouse Station, and Restaurant Bouchard in Newport, RI. Everything about our meal there was perfect. We'll be back.
As a post Valentine date with my wife, we enjoyed an amazing dinner. Ambiance is very warm and cozy. We had a seat by the window which overlooks the pond and looks nice at night. Great service , loved the food and price is very reasonable if you factor in how much you save with the b.y.o.b. policy. I definitely look forward to dining there again.
Was a beautiful snowy evening...fire pit was blazing ...food was delicious ...and staff was so very friendly and accommodating...!
Absolutely perfect in every way. We ordered the five course tasting menu and I couldn't say which choice was our favorite - everything was cooked to perfection.
Excellent restaurant - food is amazing but what makes this restaurant so outstanding is how kindly everyone treats you!! The atmosphere and people along with the food make this place a winner!
Ambience + outstanding food and service. Perfect for a special dining experience. BYOB. And plan ahead.
Absolutely fantastic experience! Best meal I've ever eaten with incredible staff and a great, scenic atmosphere. No valet parking and BYOB are also pluses for me as they go very far in lowering your overall bill, which was very reasonable for a place this upscale. Jacket is not required, but I wore one and was not out of place at all. I can't recommend Saddle River Inn enough.
An early Valentines Dinner. We had an amazing dinner with fabulous food & service. Love this restaurant.
Everything was delicious and the service was great. Our only disappointment was that the menu was essentially the same as it was the last 2 or 3 times we were there. We would come more often if there was more of a seasonal variation in the menu.
Time for new additions to the menu. I love the Saddle River Inn but this winter the menu was a bit lacking. It’s time for new specials and some new twists to the main menu.
This was our first dinner at the Saddle River Inn with our sister and her friend. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. The service was wonderful and the chairs are very comfortable for dining.
Yummy!! Octopus appetizer and burrata fantastic!!!
This place is awesome! The Maribar steak is too good! I would eat here everyday if I could.
This is now one of our favorite restaurants. We really enjoyed the complimentary sample of Chef's take on Onion Soup; 4 of us agreed it tasted like Thanksgiving stuffing, very unique & delicious. This time we sat on the 2nd floor overlooking the main dining room and really enjoyed the view. I could see both the river out of one window and the outside wood burning fire pit out of another - great atmosphere! Delicious food, Excellent service, BYOB will keep me coming back. This place gets it rights!!! Thank you!!
Perfect as always
Great spot. Super nice staff, and with BYOB reasonable for the quality of food and experience.
The food is good and so is the service. I was disappointed in the bread served, not fresh and not to the standard of the rest of the meal.. Also, the waiter sent over a very small glass with 1/4" of onion soup for the table. That was really inapproriate for such a fine restaurant.
Fantastic as always!
We both selected scallops and spaetzle. Jamie was our attentive and friendly waiter. We come here about once a year fir food and environment. Planning to bring a friend here in coming weeks.
Amazing dining experience!!
While it’s challenging to get a reservation the food is wonderful. The arrival a little less so. We waited over 20 minutes for our reservation and were ignored for 10 min once seated, after that it was great!
We came here to celebrate a birthday since all the hype and buzz was in favor of this restaurant. We were extremely disappointed. Our reservation was at 8PM, however as instructed we got there a bit early around 7:50. Once we arrived, the manager instructed us that the table will be ready in 10 minutes however ultimately we were not seated until 8:30. Meanwhile, we saw plenty of other parties of 4-6 people being seated while we were waiting. The manager gave a half hearted apology for the wait. The food was pretty good and all the credit goes to the chef for that. The waiters were gentlemen and were attentive however the manager’s demeanor was an extreme turnoff. The experience was not worth it.
Service has greatly improved since the new owners took over with seeming totally new wait staff that didn't know much, at least about how to handle wine. While the 2-tops can be close together, they aren't so close that you need to introduce yourself. My husband had the lobster toast special that he really enjoyed. I had the BLT (bibb lettuce, bacon, sauce), small but flavorful and larger might have been too much. He had the Halibut special, again excellent sauce. I had the duck breast. The crispy rice was formed into two sticks - maybe a little dry, but had good flavor. We ordered two sides, the potato gratin which isn't on the menu and is holdover from previous owners and the crispy brussel sprouts which my brussel sprout hating husband said were good. He had the crème brule for desert while I asked for chocolate and vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. Perfect after a rich meal. Our wines were treated well and new glasses brought when we changed from white to red. We will be back for another special occasion.
