Fresh and local food is big plus. Wait staff seemed very eager, but needs a bit more practice - but the earnestness of staff was refreshing. Tasting menu not available when we were there - would have liked to have had it as an alternative. Prices are very fair. Would have liked outside dining but weather did not permit. Will come back. Seemed a little like a "work in progress" but definitely headed in the right direction.
Went early for a drink at the outdoor patio bar. The hostess walked us to the bar, but forgot to come back for us when our table was ready. The bar had a huge, off-putting TV and the bartender was almost never around (we were the only ones at the bar until one other couple showed up). The bar area smelled strongly of rotting garbage or compost a lot of the time, clearly coming from somewhere outside the patio walls. Food was very good, service was lacking. Forgot to bring bread, ordered wine by the glass and the bottle was emptied, dregs and all into the glass, leaving only about 3/4 of a glass of wine, they never came back to top it off. Forgot to refill water. Overall it was expensive and not worth it given the experience, though again the food was excellent.
Definitely a great dining experience. We arrived early so spent some time at the bar - which is lovely. The bartenders, Mike and Tom were so pleasant and gladly made recommendations and suggestions as we asked about the menu. Our waitress, Kat was also terrific and made the evening just perfect! Food was excellent and each person in our party enjoyed something different . Will be re visiting soon!
This place is fantastic! Beautiful setting and 5 star food!
Visited previously for amazing dinners and now our first time for Sunday Brunch and it was excellent. Gourmet dining at its' finest in elegant ambience. Service was excellent. Highly recommend! Best Burger ever according to my son! Local oat pancakes were amazing. Pea Risotto tasted incredible. Fresh juice tremendous! Rave ! Rave ! Rave ! Happy family outing celebrating our son's birthday. Live music in the background in the bar was welcome as well.
Wonderful dinner to celebrate my birthday with my family. Delicious food and impeccable service always makes the Ryland Inn a great place for a memorable evening!
First time at the Ryland Inn. Our wine came out before our first course. The first course came out too fast. Our waiter was mediocre at best, and did not care for the desserts. Overall it was a nice experience and I would go back but perhaps enjoy the bar instead of the dining room.
This is the fourth time my wife and I have had dinner here. We love the ambiance and it is well worth the 30 minute drive for us. We always go for the large cheese plate which beautifully pairs both local and imported cheeses with jams, mustards and honey! The dinner choices are also great but our favorite are the burgers made with all locally sourced ingredients (ask for the bacon jam burger which is no longer on the menu but they will still make it). In all, a great spot!
Birthday was so lovely
The food was great but was told the appetizer portions of the pastas would be plenty. Luckily to be safe we ordered the entree portion which turned out to have 6 pieces of pasta. It was good & filling but disappointing based on what we were told.
Ryland Inn is about YIUR MONEY HONEY & nothin else! They built a new part of the wedding venue, & now the restaurant fallout begins. BIG FAIL! Bartenders on a weekend - are highly inexperienced very young 20 year olds- blind leading the blind. . It’s not VANDERPYMP RULES -
They can’t make a simple cocktail, don’t deliver right glass, whoops ice - asked pls straight up no ice. Annoyed by poor cocktails being made no mixologist here- ! Then it’s the dining room- ugh same thing 20 years olds who are trained puppets with apologies out the wazoo. 3x asked for still bottled water, this girl couldn’t get it right @ 8 pm. We stopped after her 3 tried.
Stupid! order was not cooked right - that’s another story for burger lovers. The meat being grass fed was ok but seasoning never existed! Burnt fries - just decided not to ask anymore. Several staff interruptions by young silly 20 year olds asking us if all is to liking??? Ahhhh no!
Piano music was nice but where is this guys musical line up from? DONT LET HIM SING - he stinks! NO coffee no dessert on purpose, place is just not - I won’t be back - was a big fan & this was not about a bad night - place doesn’t want to pay for experienced staff. Over & Out
We arrive expecting the Ryland Inn from years gone by, what we got was an upscale TGIFridays. We were dressed up for our 33rd anniversary and was expecting an great eveining. Not what we got, arrival was good very pretty setting with valet parking. We were greeted and lead to our table right away. The two dining rooms were adjacent to the bar. What we first noticed were people wearing jeans and uncolled shirts and at least one table had a man wearing shorts. We were lead to a table in the corner of a banquet both being bench seats. No table clothes on most of the tables. We asked if we could sit at a 4 top by the window and were told they were expecting reservations for those tables(place never filled up). After a short while the hostess moved us to the 4 top with a linen table cloth. Menu was heavy on meat and lacked depth as did the wine list. Most wines were less than 3 years old and prided accordingly. I asked if they had a premium wine list and was told no but still had some older bottle from before the flood. Had a great 1988 Cab at a reasonable price. Service was attentive and professional. All in all it was a good meal at a fair price. I would go back for burgers and a beer but no need to dress up.
Very nice experience! Had my birthday dinner here. Service is top-notch, food is excellent and ambiance is very upscale. Loved it and will be back!
Food. Quality excellent. Assortment:menu selection was fair. Service very mediocre. Love it here but left disappointed.
Excellent service, beautiful setting and all in all very good food. I stop short of saying the food was outstanding... the ribeye was tough and nothing special, but my family thoroughly enjoyed their entrees. In fairness, I believe that after New Year's Eve, Mother's Day is the worst possible day on which to fairly judge any restaurant's quality. I will return on a less hectic day to try the Inn again.
The team at the Ryland Inn have really been on their game recently. This was our fourth or fifth visit over the past 12 months and this visit was very good. The menu is well designed, the food is local and fresh, the preparation high quality, and the service professional yet friendly.
We started dinner with an assortment of 5 different cheeses, all of which were excellent and very fresh. They were accompanied with dijon mustard, jam, and honey-coated Marcona almonds. Two bread selections were also provided, and they were equally fresh.
Our entree was a tomahawk steak for two, which a chef presented to our table, before cutting it off the bone and slicing it for portions. It was beautifully grilled, tender, and delicious. It was accompanied by sauteed spinach (plus some roasted garlic, which is great with the steaks too) and blue corn grits. The grits were a novel idea but a little soupy and didn't add very much flavor.
We also ordered grilled asparagus (outstanding!) and fried artichokes (underwhelming and bland).
The dessert offering did not strike any chords, and since we began with cheese, we departed to the bar for an after dinner Sazarac. There is no doubt that we will return, as our experiences here have consistently been positive.
Steak and frites heavily salted.
We had a great time at the Ryland Inn.
We were very impressed with the food. The most impressive is the fact that they have their own garden. A lot of restaurants claim to supply from local farmers but few have their own vegetable and herb garden for their customer.
Everything is above average.
The price however is about 20 percent more than what it should be for the small portions that are served.
And the bar desperately needs a foot rail.
We had a wonderful time at the Ryland Inn. Food and service are excellent!
The food and ambiance were excellent. We opted to create our own tasting menu and had quite a bit of the restaurant’s offerings. The service was overall good.
The following are suggestions to bring service to next level: When bringing guests from the bar to their seats, there should always be an offer to carry the drink(s) for the guest to the table. Also, the expanded wine list was out of date (we were told this when we requested it) and the regular wine list lacked sufficient choices in the $40 -$70 range
Did the tasting menu with wine pairings. A very good meal with some excellent dishes and lovely wines, but a few glitches. The beef dish was exceptional- 3 cuts with an amazing sauce done a perfect medium rare. A long wait for dessert and then the dessert was not what was one the menu and no explanation was given for the change, even when we asked. It actually took so long the coffee got cold. A chipped dish in one course. An unimpressive vegetarian entree. Poured a new wine course into a used glass. Little thing maybe, but this level of restaurant is about the details.
Brunch menu had nice variety and service was warm and welcoming. Will make this a regular brunch option from now on!!!
Service and ambience are great. Veal chop was way undercooked and a bit tough. Wagyu sirloin was excellent. Needs a more diverse wine by the glass menu.
Outstanding as usual! We drove up from the shore. It was well worth the drive and the money- it was a wonderful dining experience. The service was also excellent!
Great service, and very warm atmosphere. Very enjoyable expierence.
With some very, very good alternatives close by, the Ryland Inn is in a very competitive market.
Prices were reasonable and the food was good.
Definitely would return for the service alone!!
Good meal. Would prefer that one wait staff take care of a table, not 4 or 5.
Can’t wait to go back . The service was amazing . The food was wonderful . The ambiance was beautiful.
Love the food and wine. The waiter was very courteous. We were very happy and will be back again
We had a 51st anniversary dinner the day before our anniversary which also happened to be on Easter this year. Shanan, our server, was very attentive and a major plus for the experience. The food was outstanding. A very pleasant evening, no rush and no problems of any kind. We certainly recommend the Ryland Inn for fine dining. The cost was less than a lunch in New York.
A nice dinner : went to the bar after dinner to finish our bottle of wine to watch the BB game . Once we finished our wine we wanted a cocktail - bartenders were "busy" cleaning up and we actually had to wave at them for service . Ugh! Spent $600 for dinner and felt we should be happy Ryland Inn had us got dinner !
Food was very good - great menu. A really lovely dining experience
We had nine people in our party it was celebrating a very special house closing. I did want the family to experience the restaurant atmosphere but we had a private room which turned out to be a very nice special service with a private server.
Beets with goat cheese and the mushrooms apps were soooooo good and dinner entrees didn’t disappoint. Our waiter was absolutely WONDERFUL.
Great all-around! Looking forward to our next visit.
We sat in the bar area at a table as our younger son was with us. The bartenders were attentive and nice. We went early 5:30. We ordered a few apps which were great love the fried chicken and the burger which is always good. Thank you for a great quick night out. I absolutely love the grounds, the restaurant and it’s appeal.
What a lovely pleasant surprise -outstanding venue for a WEDDING
Enjoyed the atmosphere and service was thoughtful, kind to your needs, never skipped a beat to make sure our dinner was enjoyable. Definitely would eat at The Ryland Inn again. Beautiful setting for any party, love the chandeliers and the room was setup so that wherever you turn it was spacious even for waitress and waiters to move about. Exceptional.
Always a good meal...excellent service. We have tried their tasting menu and loved it as well as the special menus for holidays such as Easter. We will return for drinks a appetizers as we also love to sea t at their beautiful bar.
Fantastic place, food was outstanding, great service, no complaints at all, great experience.
