The renewed Ryland Inn is celebrating their one year anniversary and is better than ever. We had the most amazing Anniversary dinner there last night. We dined in the private Chef's Room and enjoyed watching Master Chef Christopher Albrecht and his Chefs perform their culinary art. The tasting menu was fabulous, the ambiance was wonderful and the service was excellent They are also working with local farmers and offering family style Sunday events. I offer the highest recommendation for dining at The Ryland Inn.
The remodel is outstanding. The greeting and care from the velvet parking to the food was superior.
Considering using as a wedding venue. We loved our evening.
After such wonderful reviews it was a completely disappointing experience. The cocktails are very nice and done well. Our service was deplorable. I do not blame the waitress, she admitted she was new, I blame her training. We were there on a Sunday for a birthday. The restaurant was very much empty - only two other tables. We sat for 15 minutes before being approached. It was another wait before we ordered and at THAT point, we were told 3 of the menu items were unavailable! There are only about 8 entrees to begin with. Of course these were our selections. This produced more of a delay. By time we ordered 40 minutes passed with not even bread. The wine we ordered came after the appetizers. My pasta appetizer was cold, the collard greens with the steak were so bitter they were inedible. The food overall was ok, but for the price, not worth it. The waitress was very uninformed not knowing how many people a side would serve, if she could split a bill or even where the bathrooms were! We had such high hopes too....
Truly a memorable dining experience. Our server Matthew was exceptional.
We had a fantastic meal from start to finish! Would go back tomorrow!
As usual, the Ryland Inn did not disappoint. The food was superb and the service is always excellent. This was a birthday celebration and everything was perfect from appetizers, entrees, desserts and wine. Always a night to remember when you go to the Ryland Inn. First rate and always great!,
Wonderful, as always. Have never been disappointed. Service and food were excellent.
much too loud for an evening meal... need to clam the quest down.
Pasta appetizer creative & very good
Olives great but they and especially the peanuts overpriced
Blueberry Marscapone delicious!
I've been to the Ryland Inn twice before and sadly, the most recent visit didn't meet our expectations. There were 4 of us, celebrating a birthday, and we made the reservation weeks in advance. The restaurant was just beginning to fill when we arrived at 6:45 but there was also a wedding that night. We felt overlooked for the majority of the night; e.g., bread was not offered (although 2 tables seated after us received theirs) until we asked, drinks took 15 minutes or more to receive, dinner wasn't served until 8:30, although we ordered shortly after sitting, after dinner drink was forgotten altogether. The menu also seemed to be more limited than those in the past and portions (with the exception of the entree protein) very small for the expense. We probably won't return for our next celebration.
Interesting appetizers but entrees were nothing special-steak, cod, chicken, nothing too interesting. Great service however!
The food was delicious, the atmosphere appropriate for celebrating our anniversary, the waiter was very friendly and they gave us desert for celebrating the occasion
Very much enjoyed The Ryland Inn for dinner. It is nice to go to a restaurant where you can hear the conversation and enjoy good to great food. I always recommend you get the side dishes, as their vegetables are outstanding. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
Our table of 5 took the tasting menu. Very creative, sometimes surprising (a daring Kimchi as Amuse Bouche - a bit strong for some palates, but why not?), and overall a really enjoyable experience. The salads were very fresh and full of flavor, the main meal, a lobster tail and rib, was exceptional - and the dessert(s) beautiful and creative (some found the olive oil ice-cream too surprising - but that's just part of why we go to the Ryland Inn). We did not take the wine-pairing, but received good advice on the wine list (very nice Alsace Riesling and an excellent St. Emilion). Thanks to the Ryland team for discrete and friendly service - the ambiance is elegant, without being overly "posh".
It was the first time I visited the Ryland Inn since its earlier incarnation under Craig Shelton. The atmosphere is more relaxed than its previously, airier, and welcoming. We ate indoors, but the outdoor eating area is quite attractive and spacious. My salmon was cooked to perfection in temperature, although a bit more seasoned than I normally prefer. The beet salad was tiny, but savory, including a beet mouse that was outstanding. Tune was cooked a bit more than requested, but seasoned just enough. My wife's mussels were out of this world--and the broth was to die for--naturally, I helped her finish her broth. We order a crème brulee for desert to split and it was rich enough for three people, with the custardy inside melting in your mouth.
The tables are a bit closer than I prefer for a restaurant of this type, but it was not full, and the additional space was appreciated. The staff were all attentive and helpful.
While we did not spend time in the bar area, there was musical entertainment and a convivial group, I presume of regulars. Definitely worth checking out for a special occasion. In fact, the pricing is not as formidable as it was in its earlier state, so you don't have to wait for a special anniversary or birthday.
The one downside was the wine menu, which appears to be marked up considerably and offers little choice in a modest price range. The quality of the offerings are strong, and wines by the glass are available with reasonable choices.
The Ryland Inn chefs are amazing! I loved every course more than the previous. Left full and content. Great service.
We had a wonderful time. Great service, a terrific ambiance and great food. The restaurant inside was noisy but people were gracious and helped us settle outside which
was lovely. The host gave us drinks for our anniversary . We stopped on our way out and ended up hanging and singing at the piano bar. A great night for us both.
very nice ambiance - very good service - disappointed the bar did not stock Bacardi rum for my Bacardi cocktail -
Outdoor brunch - beautiful outdoor space, lots of seating and delicious food!
The quality of the food was beyond mediocre. Even for the extremely high price, if the quality and flavors were memorable I could recommend it. For $15 I got a tiny bit of flaccid, old lettuce and literally 5 tiny strawberries that looked and tasted like they had been in storage for several days (white ends and mushy). The entree ingredients were not fresh. The taste was ok, not great, and for the $36 price tag the worst entree I have ever had for quality and price. The atmosphere is very stuffy. Did not feel friendly or inviting. We couldn't wait to leave.
It is clearly primarily a banquet hall and the food reflects that.
Maybe the best food I have ever had. Really creative menu taking advantage of Jersey farms.
The Ryland Inn is one of our favorite restaurants. Not only is the farm to table cuisine fantastic the gracious old country inn is such an inviting, romantic setting you won't want to leave! Highly recommend!
Excellent salmon, monkfish, chicken, and Waygu beef dishes, and loved the trays of petit fours at meal's end; pot of loose-leafed-brewed caffeinated (not ordered) rather than decaffeinated tea (as requested) kept me up all night!
Excellent dinner, appropriate portions and unique desserts! Loved the bar for drinks before dinner. Great for special occasions or just a nice evening out with friends
Chef Chris and the entire team do a wonderful job on providing a memorable dining experience!
Wonderful in every way including a great waiter. I have been coming to this spot since the 60s believe it or not & will be back again soon! Yes
The food was excellent. Farm to table, creative dishes, good menu. Expansive wine list. Our service was not great, however. We were a table of 6 and received 5 rolls, we were missing a bread plate. Our first wine bottle was not good, a second one was served, wine spilled on my husband's napkin, but it was not replaced. There was a wedding taking place at the time of our dinner, so I am not sure if that is why the service was lacking, but that should not have happened in such an upscale establishment.
We always enjoy a special meal at the Ryland. Saturday night we were outside since the weather was pleasant and a very sudden rain burst took place. Kudos to the staff. Our meal was just being set down as the raindrops started coming down. They whisked the food under cover and seated us at a table with an umbrella without any rain getting in our food or our wine. The food was excellent as always. It seemed the menu was smaller than usual, no Specials, which I assume had to do with a large wedding taking place at the same time.
Apropos, we were at a wedding here in May and it is a great venue for a wedding. The new courtyard is perfect and the food catered was wonderful.
The ambience, service & food were outstanding. Our only cringe worthy comment would be our server had either BO or bad breath. He was great just there was something....
I would go back & hope for another server.
Over priced food for what you got. Menu was very drab and limited. Drinks were very strong. Ambiance and seating was excellent
