Wonderful time!! Thank you!
The food was superb for our anniversary dinner! Not only in taste but presentation. The setting is lovely.
My only complaint is my table didn’t have a tablecloth and for fine dining I feel that’s a must.
I would love to go back for the brunch.
The ambience, setting, and especially the food were excellent. Our server faded after a strong start and we didn’t see her for about 25 minutes after we had gotten our food. She brought the check over and we didn’t realize she had put the neighboring table’s martini on our tab. She did catch it and took it off of course but I’m not sure I should be giving kudos for getting a bill correctly.
Not sure about the ‘noise’ rating but it seemed just right. Would recommend again. Great food.
Staff took amazing care of us for our anniversary on short notice. Excellent food, drink, and service. Will return!
All aspects of the evening were good, except that the air conditioning didn’t seem to be working ( or not well if it was).
Visiting town for the QuickChek balloon festival. We happened upon this place in search of an impromptu brunch. It was a bit pricey but worth every penny. Food was to die for and staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely love to go back if we are in the area.
My husband and I haven't dined at the Ryland Inn in many years because it's a good 45 minutes from our house. Loved it before and loved it now. We had a wonderful experience celebrating my husband's birthday.
Exquisite meal, fabulous balance of flavors in the grilled peach salad along with a wonderful scallop dinner. Food is always great and live music in bar area is a wonderful touch. Comfortable , cozy, classy and costly. But worth every dollar.
Everyone was so nice!! The food was outstanding!
Wonderful evening, very nice out on the patio
EXCELLENT!!!! So delicious!!! Highly recommended. Service was great, food was delicious
We are new to the area and was recommended to eat here. Very close by. We had a good view of the outdoors. My husband looked at the menu online and noticed the rabbit and want to try it to his disappointment there was none on the menu as it is now summer( please update online menu). Salmon was amazing! Blueberry bread pudding was good to many blueberry for me but fine. Cocktails were great. The star was our waiter who made you feel at home. I will be back just because of his knowledge and friendliness. The bathroom seats are low girls so be careful. I would remodel the ladies room. I felt bad for our waiter as we put him on the spot for finding other places to go for dinner in our area and since he didn’t live in the area went to get manger to come over, we waited 10mins and waiter just hand us a book told us the manager didn’t live here and told us we can look through the book to fine other restaurant. It would have been nice to talk to the manager. I would come back to eat outsides on the patio.
Talk about a long time between visits! Live in Warren and initially ate at the Ryland Inn at least 25 years ago. Never went back as I thought wine list was massively over priced and atmosphere a bit stuffy. As there really is a dearth of really good places to eat here in west central NJ, decided to give it another try. Very happy to report everything was great, good food nice craft cocktails(prefer them to wine these days) and great service, no real complaints. My wife’s tile fish was outstanding, my steak good and appetizers ok, desert delicious. Certainly must be among best restaurants anywhere near there in rural Hunterdon County, can’t understand why it wasn’t more crowded. Will return. Regards. Ned.
Music on the patio was particularly great.
Overall we had a fabulous dinner and experience. The waitstaff was very attentive and in fact patient with us as we just wanted to talk and took a good bit of time to decide on entrees. The cheese board is perfect for a table to share, which we did, and the cheese samplings were great. As for entrees, I had the tile fish which was outstanding. The presentation, en papillote, was very cool and it was all perfectly prepared. My husband ordered the steak frites which was very tough and he really didn’t enjoy it very much. He said he kept cutting very tiny pieces just to chew it. Everyone was hungry and he chose not to make a fuss about it, which was fine because cooking a new steak would have taken a while. In fact he didn’t tell me until we had left the restaurant. The problem was the cut, not the preparation, and this should not be at a restaurant of this caliber - and cost. We had a great time in a lovely atmosphere, but the chewiness of the steak keeps this from being a 5-star experience.
We really enjoyed the tasting menu. Service was excellent. The sommelier did an outstanding job with the pairings.
We requested a special table and were very happy where we were seated near the window. We appreciated the personal note acknowledging the special occasion. Our waitress was outstanding throughout the dinner - she made the experience special. Mixed reviews on our dinner. Charred octopus appetizer and pork chop entree were excellent, pea salad and beef entree ok but not memorable. We did not have a drink at the bar but it looked welcoming. We will return to give it a try
I have been to restaurants all over the world, and the Ryland Inn is one of my favs (and it is right around the corner of my house)! Excellent food, great ambiance, attentive staff. This is an exceptional restaurant!
I am have been a frequent diner at the Ryland Inn for several years now. I know many of the staff (both front and back of the house) on a first name basis. Overall, the Ryland is a wonderful little treat nestled in the rolling hills of Hunterdon County and the food, by and large, is very good. Chris has done an excellent job of updating the dining menu and incorporating local ingredients; however, I may have done a few things differently. For example, doing away with the fan-favorite Ryland Burger, replete with the bacon jam, was not a wise move. Some of the new dishes like the Kale Pancake are also overladen with cheese and feel like a pound of bricks in your stomach - not something you'd expect from a vegetarian option. The salt content of some dishes can also feel a little heavy handed at times, too, but I am nitpicking an otherwise splendid menu. HOWEVER, one aspect of the Ryland which has changed for the worse, particularly in the past two years, has been its tendency to be overcrowded. The venue now hosts TWO wedding receptions as well as a la carte dining in the dining room, bar and patio. On several past visits to the Ryland, the crowd was too big for even the wait staff to handle properly. By the staff's own admission, the venue was overtaxed and service and food quality suffered as a result. If I am to make one recommendation to the Ryland management, it's this: Plan your receptions wisely and make sure you have appropriate staff count. Otherwise, If you continue down this path, your reputation and quality will diminish. To the diner looking for a superb Ryland experience, ask when you make reservations whether they will be hosting a wedding or two when you dine. If they do, perhaps you may want to rebook your reservation for some other time.
Excellent service and every course if our dinners were served well and delicious.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent food. Wait staff is a bit young and green, but they were all diligent and giving it their best efforts.
It was our 5th anniversary and the chef came out and said hi.
Beautiful place! Great experience all around!
Went there for Father’s Day. Good experience.
I think the chargers are too much.
Food was exceptional. Service was good however slightly aggressive. Overall wonderful dinner.
Exceptional atmosphere. Great sevice. Delicious food (the trout, and salmon). Our first, but not our last visit here.
The food was very good. Certain portions could be more generous. Would like more veggie side options
Entrees came out before appetizers. Drink orders came after apps. It was not a good day for this particular server.
Menu is too fussy and misses the mark. Usually the food is amazing when the menu is unique. Not bad here, but not great either. Service was hit or miss and overall we would not go back. Food was just meh. The property itself, is one of the nicest I have ever been to. Just stunning and worth going at least once just for that alone.
Everything was great.
Outstanding! This was a dining experience. Every detail was expertly addressed from seating, to the artful voyeuristic pleasure of the plated presentations, up to the orgasmic delight of each scrumptious bite. Make sure to try the duck! Awesome.
Dinner was good but not as good as in the past. We were disappointed in the steak.
Our experience was good as usual. My only disappointment was that I mentioned we were celebrating my husband’s promotion when I made the reservation and nothing was done. In the past, we’ve had “Congratulations” written in chocolate on the dessert plate for anniversaries. Won’t prevent us from returning or recommending Ryland Inn. Just a small disappointment.
bar meets fine dining
crowd and service does not match menu or decor - a beautiful place with so much to offer but the staff - from the front to the table - do not follow through
we had questions on the wine list which were unanswered, were not asked bottled water or tap, any allergies etc..all basic restaurant questions.
The staff at the Ryland helped make my birthday celebration extra special. The food was delicious and the service was attentive.
Our Mother's Day celebration and everything was great, and what we have come to expect from the Ryland Inn. Innovative menu, superior and professional bartenders, and amazing food. Of course on this evening they had a wedding and a private event going on so the service was noticeably slower than normal but who cares? it is SO worth the wait ;-)
It was for my husband’s birthday that I made reservations at the Ryland Inn after over 20 years since I had been there. I remembered that it was a wonderful meal and I was hoping for the same. I really wanted our evening to be an experience. The Ryland Inn did not disappoint! We chose the Tasting Menu with the wine pairings. It was beyond amazing!!! Food was creatively presented and delicious! Wines were exquisite! Service was extraordinary! It was a 5 Star experience! We had traveled from out of state to get there. We will definitely go back! Wonderful evening. Thank you, Ryland Inn
Very nice food and great ambient! Nice people around!
As usual, the meal was wonderful, and the service was quite professional.
