The menu on the website was totally different that the one at the restaurant. Mostly sandwiches and not much local fare. No fresh fish and just kinda plain Jane. A better menu would serve this restaurant well. Good service , nice location but ordinary food

Food was terrible and service was not anybetter. I should have known it was not gonna be a good night when the hostess said we don't do reservations and I don't even know how you would make a reservation.

We had a wonderful meal last week at the Rusty Rudder. I ordered the Salmon special over ravioli in a squash and greens cream sauce. Delish! It was cooked perfectly and the flavors melded so well together. My husband had the Blackened Salmon Alfredo and he loved it! It had a good kick to it. The waitress said that the heat could be adjusted too. Our friends ordered the fillet and one of the Mac and Cheese skillets. I had a bite of the fillet and it was delicious. It was a generous portion size too. She took a piece home with her. Our other friend liked the Mac and cheese skillet that he ordered. All in all it was a great evening. Good company and great meals at a fair price. Looking forward to returning soon.

My party’s reservations was set for 1: 00 pm on a Sunday. The restaurant wasn’t full when we arrived. We sat outside. The seating was comfortable and the view was very nice. Our drink order was taken immediately. However, at 1:25 pm, (after sitting for an extended amount of time) our server came to get our order. (I had to literally flag her down.) Our food arrived sometime after 2:00 p.m.

I ordered from the regular menu. The brisket cheese steak sandwich was WONDERFUL! The rest of the table ordered from the Brunch Menu. None of them were over thrilled with their meal.

My experience was not the best for any of us on this day. Regardless, I will return! This is not my first visit to The Rusty Rudder. It is a good restaurant.

Great meal, great staff. If coming from Charleston it’s a little out of the way with regards driving distance but well worth the drive.

My wife has a terminal illness and has a hard time making decisions and conveying her thoughts. The waitress was very patient and gave us plenty of attention. I wish I could remember her name because she was very good to us. Wonderful food and a great outdoor patio.

Upon arrival, several ladies stood ready to take us to our table. A two-man band entertains on many nights and we were taken to a seat up front. Drinks were served, we gave our order and food arrived in a few short minutes but we were not rushed. The table and service made us feel special. The food was good, the second least expensive wine was just fine, and the service was timely and friendly. We savored the wine, music, and atmosphere until we were ready to leave. An excellent experience, with good food that's easy on the wallet. A great entertainment value.

Both food and service is consistently very good. Has dining options for both indoor and outdoor along with live music outdoors. One of our favorite neighborhood place to go for a great meal.

Tried out the Rusty Rudder based on reviews and also just wanting to try something different. The restaurant was quite busy on its patio, but not that busy inside. They didn't seem to have enough servers and our waitress was running around like mad to keep up - hats off to her though, she did a great job on taking care of us. Had the crab dip, which was warm - just didn't taste that great and had a lot of shell pieces in it; main courses were the special which was lobster and shrimp gnocchi and shrimp and grits. My wife enjoyed the shrimp and grits for the most part, but I was disappointed with the gnocchi. The idea was great but the execution was flawed. Most of the gnocchi was burned on the bottom, and the lobster was rubbery and very overdone. I would have overlooked that, except two mains and crab dip without any alcohol was 80 bucks. Won't be going back; there's just too many great places to go in Charleston.

Awful from the unruly children, the poor quality of the food, to the lack of service, to the diner like atmosphere and the high prices, this place is not worth a second trip.

Big mistake during tourist season. We have grandchildren to but within 10 minutes outside dining was overtaken by "tens" of five-year-olds or younger. can't blame then… They're only five but the parents these days don't know how to manage their children and ruined the dining experience.

Saturday night out for great food and live music and The Rusty Rudder delivers - AGAIN! From the Spicy Charleston chicken sandwich to their blackened chicken cajun pasta to fried oyster mac n cheese, everything was delicious, served efficiently and the live music on the outdoor patio area is simply perfect. Will be returning many times in the future!

This is not your typical restaurant along Route 17. Dining was a really nice experience. We went outdoors since the weather was perfect for it. A bit noisy but it was crowded. Waitress and wait staff absolutely tops and food couldn't have been better. Lobster ravioli and shrimp and grits we're delicious. Make reservations or get there early. Guitar duo was entertaining. All in all a winner.

This place is amazing! We went here with some friends for dinner and drinks and were blown away. Every dish was awesome from the wings to the chicken sandwich. It was so good that we went back for brunch the next and was blown away again. We live in West Ashley and will definitely make the trip there for the food.

Besides the food, the atmosphere is on point. The musicians they bring are some of the very best.

We loved the low country ambiance of this restaurant. The service was awesome, but unfortunately the food was just okay. The she crab soup was watery and tasteless. My husbands fried chicken was good, but a little on the cool side. I would try it again.
