A lovely ambience, a hidden gem. A very vegetarian friendly menu.
Can't wait to go back. Food was amazing! So good.
Was going to a show at the Pantages theater for my birthday with a friend, so I found this restaurant through a search of nearby restaurants, and I am glad I chose to come here! The food was excellent, as was the ambiance. My friend and I decided to sit outside. Even though it was slightly chilly out and quite windy, the outdoor patio has high walls, and we were seated right next to an outdoor heater, so it was pretty nice. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. We started out with a shared jicama Mediterranean salad, which was delicious. I then got the Harvest Gnocchi, while my friend got the Salmon with Eggplant Mole. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Since it was my birthday, we also got the chocolate ice cream taco, which had a really interesting flavor profile. It seems like this place specializes in unusual flavors, and we were totally digging that! I know for sure I will have to come back here if I am ever in the area (especially for a show at Pantages) again, because there were so many awesome things on the menu I wanted to try!
Always a great place to meet in Hollywood. Never pretentious and always an inventive menu!
Food was fantastic. All the tostadas were excellent—we had them all! Highly recommend the taquitos, the flat iron steak, and the short rib as well. Great drink selection and desserts, too.
Had a great time. The service and ambiance was fantastic. Some of the food was amazing and some was just good. Brussel sprouts were on point! I would recommend to a friend who is going out in hollywood.
Stellar food for the price. The standout appetizer was the Brussels sprouts in red-wine vinegar. So simple, yet so delicious. While we enjoyed the white sangria, flavored with a mix of wintry spices, I wish the bar served cocktails. Service was attentive; the decor, forgettable.
After theater dinner , totally not good experience
Food mediocre , premises not clean , music too loud
Fantastic service!!!! Food left much to be desired! In LA where there are so many incredible restaurants, this doesn’t even begin to compete!
Liked the cod chorros and the tofu sandwich. The salad with salmon was also good. The service was very attentive.
Very good food. Beer and wine only, but some nice choices. Definitely would go back and would recommend.
Excellent food and service! Delicious baked Brie, salted cod churros, and shrimp appetizers. Short ribs, salmon sandwich and burger were all excellent!
Drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts were all excellent.
Wonderful find! Lovely outdoor patio with a great ambience/vibe. Friendly service, good food and value for the cost. Going back!
Delicious food, very attentive staff. Patio was very nice and there is an herb garden within the property which is very cool. Only thing is that the tables are very close together, so you can be easily distracted by the diners just a few feet away from you.
I rarely give 5* reviews across the board, and here are all the reasons I am giving it to Running Goose:
1. Every dish we had (Corn Tostada, Tomato Tostada, Brussel Sprouts, Gnocchi, Short Ribs, Potatoes, Strawberry Pie, Bread Pudding) tasted AMAZING! Seriously, across the board everything was just really good.
2. While it is shared plates, the mains are large enough for one person to have as an entree (thank you baby Jesus).
3. They have sangria, and its good!!! I could drink the white one all day.
4. They have an intimate outdoor patio in the heart of Hollywood.
5. It is so reasonably priced, especially for the quality of food.
6. The service was amazing - I think every single person who worked at that restaurant stopped by our table.
I really hope this place sticks around for a while and the quality is maintained, as I hope to make it my neighborhood favorite. I have already recommended it to a few friends. I was with some foodies who just moved here from NYC and even they were impressed.
You really should go. I will probably see you there.
Great food and great people! The server forgot our utensils so I had to grab them myself and the pour on my 12$ glass of wine was lousy but overall it’s a great place! Will be back soon!
Service was awesome! Food was good. I recommend the spicy Gambas dish.
We loved the tostada appetizers, sitting on the patio, and the many vegetarian options!
It was great - we tried a sampling of the tostadas (carrot was the clear winner, although all were delicious). Service was quick and staff were very friendly. Would highly recommend.
Get the kale gnocchi, make sure to get a little bit of each ingredient in each bite! Steak is great as well.
What a fabulous place! I have to say: I was hesitant not only because of the name - too hipster at first sight! - but because its neighbor bars and restaurants are not exactly... cute. I had supper there with my 10 year-old daughter and could not be happier. The food was AWESOME. Creative, healthy, tasty, great-looking... The service was SUPERB! The gal who welcomed us was not only gorgeous, but nice and concerned for the guest. The guy who was at the bar kept checking on us; if we wanted some more water, if our food was O.K., if we were still hungry... It was really a delight and I truly appreciate the care our hosts took on us. Congratulations and thank you!
The food was fantastic and the service even better. We had several people assisting us and when our food was delayed we were given a percentage off the bill. Great overall experience!
Food was ok, salt cod churros were good. Took us 30 minutes to get the check after we were done with our meal.
This place was hopping. A reservation was definitely a good idea. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, although the portions are really not large enough to require a doggy bag. Probably a good thing considering their primary business is most likely those attending the theater shortly after. The service was friendly and attentive, but probably a bit relaxed if you're in a rush. This may be my new go to place the next time I have tickets at the Pantages, which is just a few blocks away.
The patio and service were terrific. There were plenty of vegetarian choices and the timing was sensitive to diners before a show at Pantages. The highlights were the brussel sprouts appetizer and a strawberry pie ala mode that was like heaven!
Food was not good. Service was very pleasant and the patio was nice. Since I went for dinner the nice service and pleasant patio did not make up for the food. My husband’s chicken was not bad (although he didn’t like it at alll) and my lamb tostada was a greasy mess with undefined flavors - the greasy lamb overcame everything else.
All the food was good and presented well except for the salad which looked thrown together.
Wonderful restaurant! Dishes that are extraordinary in both flavor and selection. No rush to finish. Service was superb! Thoughtful, attentive and non-intrusive.
Excellent service. Excellent meal. Bread pudding desert was great.
The service was good. The front desk waitress was kind enough to seat us and then transfer us to an outside table when one became available. But the outside waiter forgot out wine and gave the pie from the next-over-couple to us. They made up for it by comping our drink.
Food was insipid.
They had motorcycle parking out front which was easier for us.
WE ARRived late due to traffic but they were able to seat us within minutes of arriving late ( it was a very busy night at the restaurant). The server was very attentive, service was fast and the food was a fabulous. I’m looking for reasons to drive back to that area just to eat there again!
This was a last-minute location change, when the other restaurant in the area we planned on was closed. It's what Bob Ross would call a "Happy Accident" - the food here was great, the servers were all friendly and helpful, and the food was essentially Mexican/Latinx-inspired comfort food. Super-tasty, original stuff, with a chill atmosphere in a neighborhood without many decent options at any price range. The bulk of the dining room is a covered patio, so be prepared to sit outside (there are heat lamps if it's cold). Great value for the money, and what looked like a solid wine list (though I stuck with beer). I'd make a point to go here again!
Busy pre-Theater dinner - great food and wait staff pretty busy and not always connected to filling water glasses, getting napkins when there was a spill etc.
Fresh greens; interesting tastes
We were heading to a play in East Hollywood, and wanted to take advantage of being in a part of town we rarely visit. Traffic was dreadful, and we were very glad we could park right next to the restaurant, even if it cost $10.00. I had a small plate of lamb chops that were absolutely delicious, as well as a wonderful quinoa salad with beets, arugula and goat cheese, among other ingredients. The greens were wonderfully fresh. My husband had a cheeseburger. We both really liked our food. It was hard to talk - I wish we had been seated in the patio, with its high ceilings. We could barely hear each other. The portions were generous, and it's a good value.
Great menu, every dish was delicious, nice atmosphere and friendly waiters. Located just off Hollywood Blvd is LA. Had wonderful outdoor fresco style seating, which made for a relaxing time.
A creative jewel carved out of a busy Blvd. Cozy outdoor digs kept our birthday party observing the surroundings. Unique menu offers something tasty for all.
I appreciated their accommodating our being 1/2 hr. late due to traffic (I called to confirm it was ok in advance). Staff was great. Discussed menu options with waiter and requested if a dish could be prepared without spicy rub. Waiter said it wasn't a problem. Food came without rub as requested and without salad dressing which was not requested. My friend's sandwich came with cold french fries for an additional $8 and sauces that we could not identify beyond mayo. Outdoor dining was very crowded with people on either side, bumping us and the table as they came and left, loud, difficult to talk. Surprised to see a woman holding a very large dog in her lap while she was eating. We went wanting a new experience but I would not want to do this again under the best of circumstances. I would not recommend it. We did make it to the show on time tho which was very much appreciated.
Great food, awesome service, loved the ambiance of the patio dining.
There are many good restaurants in Los Angeles and I was just not impressed with this particular one.
Not Horrible...just not worth going back to
