Unfortunately this restaurant did not meet our expectations of a great steakhouse. Our sommelier/waiter was off his game on the night we visited. His wine pairings were excellent, but he seemed to have been thrown into service as a waiter. Although our selections of foie gras, twice baked potato, and creme brûlée were all among the we have had, the steaks were a disappointment. We have had far better steaks at chain steakhouses in this price range.
Always great! I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Similar price/value to the upper end steak houses in downtown Pasadena, but the elegance of the Langham and proximity to the Tap Room for after-dinner dancing propels this location over all others in the area. Even makes this a destination for out of area diners to seek out.
Steaks and seafood are tremendous. Flavor and quality are extremely high. Portions for plates and appetizers were perfect.
Atmosphere is elegant and clean. Simple lines. Think glass and tile. White is the feature "color".

Upscale steakhouse, with polished service. Different from other steakhouses, the wood-fired grill creates an amazing aroma and offers a beautifully charred flavor to the beef. Definitely request a table with the large "white" chairs as they are far more comfortable than the tables with sofa and smaller chair. We truly thank our server for accommodating our request to change tables, as our three hour dining experience here was definitely more comfortable in the nicer chairs. Food preparation and presentation here was excellent. Oysters were very fresh, very flavorful. Perfectly seared foie gras was served with a lovely sauce on the side to drizzle; it was a nice 3oz portion with just the right touch of accompanied flavors. Sharing the Brandt Cote de Boeuf was our choice, it was cooked to order and very flavorful. Normally, we are not fans of grass fed beef taste - but this particular beef, we were informed, is finished with a few days of grain feed and its flavor definitely won us over. Service is polished, offering the right amount of attention without being intrusive. We thank our waiter, Stephen, for his hospitality - he made our special dining experience a true joy. Kudo's to the Chef, the meal was delicious. And definitely a thank you to the waiter staff as they all worked in sync to enhance our experience. Everything was timed beautifully.

Great atmosphere, great service, great food, excellent wine list for all palettes. I'd consider this an "occasion" restaurant for upscale gatherings or celebrations. It's not intimate or romantic (no quiet and dark corners), but a fun, vibrant, and modern vibe that allows for conversation and joviality. Do take more time to explore the grounds at the Langham prior to or following your meal.
Since we were staying at the Langham Huntington Pasadena hotel, we decided to dine at their in-house upscale restaurant, the Royce.
Upon arrival at the restaurant, we noticed a fancy private "wine room" with glass walls, within the restaurant, where a large and animated group was having dinner. We did not realize that this group was to have a negative effect on our dinner experience until later in the evening.
Our server was friendly and talkative. We placed our orders, and the first course came out in reasonable time. Both my husband and I enjoyed our first courses. After that, the dinner started to go wrong.
Approximately 45 minutes after the first course plates had been cleared, our server came to offer apologies for the long delay in the delivery of our main courses (which were still not yet served). He explained that the kitchen was apparently preoccupied or overwhelmed with preparing the dinners for the group in the private wine room, and he assured us that our main courses would come out soon.
Not long after that, the restaurant host also came to our table to offer his apologies as well.
One hour and twenty minutes after we had entered the restaurant, we were finally served our main courses. My $58 veal chop was barely warm, and it was disappointing to say the least.
After we had finished our main courses, the server returned to our table and apologized again for the very long time that it had taken for us to receive our main courses. He offered us complementary desserts, which we declined, because we had already been in the restaurant close to two hours by that time.
Shortly after, the restaurant host came and also apologized and offered desserts (again declined) and coffee, which we accepted.
We found the entire experience to be inexcusable and, frankly, overpriced. We do not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances.

We enjoyed the salmon, filet mignon, oysters, jumbo shrimp, wine and the Bitcoin cocktail followed by an apple crumble that was delicious! Everything was amazing and just perfect for our belated Valentine’s Day dinner.
My wife and I had a wonderful evening at the Royce. The staff was fabulous and attentive to everything.

The Royce is a nice restaurant for a special evening. The ambiance was sophisticated, quiet and our server was very helpful and attentive but not in to excess. As far as we knew we were the only people in the room that night even though in fact the room was moderately populated with a well dressed, older 100% caucasian crowd, not that there's anything wrong with it as Jerry Seinfeld says.
If you commit to spending a not insignificant amount of money and just let them take care of you it would be difficult to be disappointed, the food is solid. We rarely dine out at this level because it's hard to enjoy ourselves when we routinely prepare most simple dishes like these better for a fraction of the cost. You would think that all restaurant kitchens would be putting out at least solid and reliable food day in day out but in all honesty it is almost easier to find common sense than a solid kitchen these days.
The Royce steakhouse is a clear cut above the better classic old school steakhouses. Think of the Royce as a Ruth's Chris on steroids for quality (and cost), sort of like Cut but without all of the hubbub and noise AND most importantly outstanding service.
It was a lovely evening. We were well taken care of and appreciated the quality of food.
It was ok but just didn’t expect service was slow and a bit rude
We were staying in the hotel so the location for a great steak worked out perfectly! The oysters were some of the freshest we've had in a long time. The Australian Wagyu was fantastic, right up there with the best we've had. The sides seemed like an afterthought...weren't as impressed with those. Service was a slow start, got better for the order and first course, then our server disappeared for the remainder, no check back and we had to go ask someone for the check, as we sat there for 10 minutes after entrees cleared. Busser did an excellent job and always kept up on water. It seemed no one could find our server, which was odd and a dissapointing way to end the meal. He finally came out at the last minute with a birthday dessert for my boyfriend, but at that point we were late for another engagement and my boyfriend had already went to get the car. No dessert menu, no after dinner drinks...it seemed like a sad way to end a good meal.
Great food, service was impeccable. Definitely will be back!
We came to celebrate a birthday. Everything was perfect. Wine recommendation was good. Food is excellent and tasty. We had romaine salad,sashimi, steak and Dover sole. Our waiter Steven went an extra mile to present us a dessert and candle even after we paid. Great memory....

Excellent steakhouse hidden away in one of the most historical hotels in Pasadena. Be sure to show up hungry because the steaks are massive! A great place for a special event, too, as the hotel attached has lots to see and room to use. Be prepared to drop some dough for the food, but it is worth it.

The food was delicious, healthy and wholesome. However, my biggest love was the service!
Service: A-MAZ-INGLY IMPECCABLE!!! Our head server, Steven was wonderful! He took care of us, checked in on us & made sure we had a great time, especially, making sure my birthday celebration was a fantastic one & it sure was! His team of servers were also nice & delightful as well! They packaged up my leftovers nicely. They were also on point w/refilling our waters & clearing away our dishes & utensils quickly before our next entrées came out. They even walked us to the restrooms to make sure we didn't get lost, so sweet! Service like this makes all the fine dining in Beverly Hills look like child's play.
Sigh, I really was disappointed at the level of service our waiter provided us. This was our second time celebrating a special birthday. First time we dine there everything was amazing so I didn't think twice about booking the reservation to celebrate a milestone birthday for my wife.
Long story short I HATE having to look for or waiter it seemed he was gone for a good portion of our meal. Had to rely on other servers to get drinks or remove plates. He had no attention to detail we like the blue cheese olive in our dirty martinis kept bringing regular olives. For the price of the drinks I would expect them to get the order correct. Porter house for 2 ask for medium came out rare and the steak is cut up already so how do you send it back unless they cook up a new one? ended up taking it to go. Overall I notify the restaurant the occasion we were celebrating our waiter had no clue did not feel welcomed. We felt rushed and for the price you would expect better service. I really wanted to provide my wife with an exceptional dining experience this time around but unfortunately it was just a bad night at the Royce. And my gut instinct was to make reservations at Alexander Steak house prior to the Royce. Should have gone with my instincts.
The food and presentation was average. It appeared that the chef was not there and that the food was randomly put on the plates without much thought. The duck breast was presented in one big piece, the asparagus spears were huge and did not taste that great. The polenta was put in a bowl like it was oatmeal in a nursing home. The food was not very good and the prices were very high for a really so so meal. Our server was super nice and experienced however. This could be such a great restaurant if it was managed properly.
We've been there before for special occasions. The wait staff was courteous and attentive, and we really enjoyed the entire experience. This time, however, our water disappeared for long periods of time and twice we had to ask someone else to have our waiter "drop by".... Not sure whether we'll go here again. The waiter was very nice, but perhaps they were understaffed. At such a fine restaurant as The Royce, however, you don't expect to be ignored...

Entry to hotel is beautiful. The restaurant was very well done and the ambiance was very nice. The wine list was versatile with a huge selection. Price point was extremely high for value and some notable Calif. wines were missing. The occasion was New Years Eve and I thought there could have been much more of a festive mood establish to mark the occasion. Was pretty much business as usual. The food was of good quality but was not noteworthy. All in all ok but not a place you must go to.
Wine list is impressive, meat was outstanding, oysters were to die for. But some elements were simply not acceptable at that level of service and price.
- stains on the furniture
- overcooked lobster in the surf and turf (and I am pretty sure the wooden skewer in the tail is supposed to be removed before the dish is served)
- sides not properly cooked (french fries undercooked and soggy in a steakhouse, crispy mushrooms in the fricassee)
- waiter brought the check without asking if we were actually done (which we were not)
I will not recommend that place and most likely will not return.
Food was excellent, service was good but not exceptional.
CHRISTMAS Dinner set menu with 3 course meal including a second surprise oderve ... Beef Wellington was delicious, however I had to send it back first time as it was too rare, even for me, and not warm enough. 2 ND time was the charm. Melt in your mouth good.
Had a beautiful Christmas eve dinner with my boyfriend. This was our first visit to the restaurant and based on the reviews, we had rather high expectations. The menu was different for this occasion and its cost was somewhat higher (about $130 per person, without wine) than usual. There were three courses to choose from and the selection was really good. We arrived on time and had to wait for a few minutes. Noise level was tolerable and the setting was nice. The food was very well prepared, even though at the beginning of the dinner servings were rather small. We were not sure if that would be the case for the remaining servings, so that got us a little bit by a surprise. Our main dish took extra long to be served and we noticed that some other guests, who arrived after us, were served before. The manager soon stopped by and apologized for the oversight, which was a nice gesture. Overall, the food was not on par with what we expected it to be. My boyfriend had a soup which was on a sweet note, a rather unusual flavor, and I had roasted duck, which was unfortunately too salty. The best part was their cheesecake dessert. On a scale from 1 to 5, food was a 4; their service 4.5, and ambiance a 4. Nice experience, but not worth the hype and the cost.
Our experience at the Royce was terrific. The food is innovative, well presented and delicious. Table service was informative and attentive without hovering.
Decor was delightful and we were seated immediately. Steven and Jesus served us at a level of class experienced at Addison in San Diego. Superb lighting, cuisine, and artistic delectable creations by Chef Dom elevated my mood. Dining experience at The Royce is remarkable.
