The Rowe Inn
Wonderful evening on a cold rainy October night, worth the drive!
Delicious food, great and reasonably priced wines, attentive and friendly service.
The Rowe inn is a treat! Not to be missed if you are in the area. The food is always excellent, along with a great wine cellar. Don’t miss it.
Always an outstanding experience! The menu is interesting, with great suggestions for wine pairings, or good advice from Laurel. Service is top notch, friendly environment.
We have eaten at the Rowe Inn several times. We have never been disappointed. The small country setting is one of the main attractions . This is not a place that flips tables to get you in and out. It tends to have a real European attitude that the table is yours for the night. The food is always wonderful. It is definitely on line with a high quality restaurant .The chef is always trying new receipts that are cooked to perfection. The service has always been great. The wine is wonderful and paired well with the food. The prices are more of that of a high quality restaurant and that is what you get here with a nice French country at restaurant.
Lovely intimate dining. Awesome wine selection that is taken very seriously. The only comment that takes away from a full 5 is that the chicken was dry. Duck was delicious. Perch also nice. They were accommodating for GF also.
Always a fabulous experience
Our entrees were bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and duck breast. Both were well prepared and and very good. We shared a very good creme brulee. Service was excellent. Overall a very nice meal.
The menu items are creative and sourced with local ingredients which are seasonal. There are always the old favorites, like the salad with warm dressing, but also some new features. The corn chowder was outstanding. The variety of entrees is just right; fish, poultry, meat, vegetarian all available and prepared with unique sides. The wines by the glass are a real strength...something for just about every palate, and not the usual suspects, either. Extensive, I mean really extensive, list of bottles of wine with very reasonable retail prices. Don't miss the cobbler. It's a dining experience.
Enjoyed a lovely dinner at this restaurant. Wine list is outstanding along with a choice of aged liquors. The appetizers were excellent and we shared an amazing dessert. Will go back!
Unique location for a 5 star restaurant. I will be back anytime I head north.
Whenever we are in northern Michigan, we do our best to have a special dinner at The Rowe Inn. Our dinner was most delicious and our service was excellent--that makes for a wonderful evening!
As always, our evening at Rowe Inn was lovely!
Amazing time selectio! Great food and service!
The Rowe it's better than ever. We have been going for years. Out meal tonight was exceptional and memorable. The curried cauliflower with the salmon was super. Duck was delicious. Four of us shared the charcuterie plate and it was great, consisting of good cheer, lamb bacon, cherry sausage, and other delights. The selection of wines by the gonna it's very well done.
This was an unexpected surprise. Great restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Outstanding menu and wine list. Portions sizes where perfect and pasta was spectacular. Cannot wait to go back when we are in the area again! Our new number spot for dinner!
The service was a little slow to start as one of the wait staff was injured and out that night. But they still did a nice job considering.
Great food and amazing wine list. We dine here a few times a year when we visit Michigan and it never disappoints.
A wonderful evening, once again! The wines were superb!
The food was exquisite . The chef did a fabulous job with the morel mushrooms.
Wonderful meal in delightful setting. Great wine selection. Compliments to the chef. Service outstanding. Highly recommend.
This was our second visit to the Rowe Inn, and it was every bit as good as our first. First rate service from the sommelier and the waitstaff. The recommendations for entrees and the wine pairings were exceptional. We cannot wait to go back!
Great stop for good food. Terrific team of professionals running the kitchen and dining room.
Fantastic meal, starting with Gruyere-onion tart. Really, really special. Moved on to the lamb, which was also great. Very tender, meaty chops. Finally, the amazing ending of Pot Du Creme. I cannot praise this joint enough. Always innovative menus and tremendous food.
Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic! What a great find. Everything was top notch and the true definition of fine dining in a casual setting.
The chef did a perfect job on presentation, timing, and taste. It was one of the best meals we have had in the last few years. This has to be one of the best if not the best fine dining restaurant in Northern Michigan.
The wine list was awesome too, as was the service and atmosphere.
We will be back!
The food here is always amazing. The wine selection is the best in the state and the service is great. If you’re in the area. Go here. You will not regret it.
I had high hopes and was really looking forward to this experience, but unfortunately the food fell short of expectation. Therefore the price was bit steep for the quality. Maybe we are a bit spoiled having traveled extensively and eaten exquisite meals prepared all over the world but that is what I had hope for here also. It was good, just did not wow me. That is what I had hope for, a wow! that was excellent!! experience.
Mushroom soup best I ever tasted!!!
Great food and service. This is quite a gem in the area. We will be back!
Overall a very pleasant evening. Comfortable ambiance and a good meal. Recommendations for a great meal. Wedge salad was fresh but blue cheese dressing nearly tasteless. Crumbles would help greatly. My partners escargot were nicely sized but to be "garlicky" much more is needed.
The duck breast was superb and prepare a perfect medium-rare.. Garnish made the dish exceptional.
My companion's lamb, cooked medium, not as tender as hoped but with a good taste.
Nice choice of deserts.
Understandably the winter menu is restrictive and in my opinion too pedestrian. Many will disagree but the pork dish should be replaced with venison, elk or veal. And the arctic char with halibut, Dover sole or skate.
Two additional minor annoyances, no Rose by the glass and not a soft cows milk cheese choice. Should add a d'Affinois or Camembert.
Service was exceptionally friendly and competent. Check the menu and go, go ,go, if it fascinates.
Reliably delicious, nice menu and great wine selection
Our host and very talented wine sommelier Laurel was very professional and a warm and welcoming person.
We have dined at Rowe several times over the years and will continue, we love Rowe and the amazing food and staff.
The chef came to our table to make certain we were happy with his preparations, this is always much appreciated.
Laurel introduced us to our waitress who had a very personal touch, making us feel like special guests in her own home.
It was my wife’s birthday and they had prepared a special menu and birthday cake for two for the occasion.
We love this restaraunt, the owners and staff. Highly recommend.
The whole night was exceptionally awesome. Food was very good. Staff was friendly and informative. Purchased some wine to bring home. Couldn’t fit dessert, might have to stop at a future date for that.
Treating my 94 y mother for change of scenery and to enjoy well known consistent Rowe Inn fine dining and wines. Ambiance always perfect & all staff have their heart and soul to make sure all have an enjoyable and memorable time. Literally a diamond in the woods and would easily compete w any DC & NY fine dining establishment in cuisine, service, and selection of wines.
The food was amazing! The people are very helpful with suggestions, and are very friendly. We talked with the waitress, and the chef even came out and chatted with us.
This is a gem in Ellsworth. We had a starter of Brussels sprouts that were outstanding. My husband had the duck and I had the pasta and both were excellent. Wine was picked by the wine person and were also wonderful choices with our food. Topped it off with the white chocolate brownie and homemade ice cream. Delicious! This is by far one of the best restaurants in northern Michigan. Highly recommend.
The Rowe Inn serves fresh, local cuisine. Food is presented with local herbs and vegetables. Service is wonderful and the wine list is quite extensive and the wine steward proved us with an excellent choice for our meal. One can even purchase wines by the bottle from the menu. We would recommend this spot but please make a reservation.
The Morel & Escargot appetizer was very good, as well as the walleye and morel pasta.
