Need to book at 4:15 PM?Other great restaurants with availability.
I went here for me and my wife's Anniversary of 7 years. It was a 2:45 pm reservation and we weren't seen for until 3 pm. I specified on the reservation it was our anniversary and I would like a window seat to have a view of the waterfall. When we got there the hostess said "it's a little crammed at the windows" and sat us a different table. We were given the brunch menu and I asked since it is 3 pm can we look at the lunch menu. The server said let me ask the chef. The server then handed us the menu without saying anything. We ordered our food and it was okay, but while my wife is still eating the server asks " would you like to see the dessert menu. I said no, and he said "just the check then okay". He came around our table about 5 times to see if she was done eating. The entire time there we felt rushed and unwanted in the space. Our time spent there was only an hr and when we left there were people still there before we were seated so I'm not sure why we were being rushed. I never wanted to leave a restaurant quicker. Definitely would not recommend to friends our family and would rather spend money elsewhere.
The drinks and brunch were very good. Not sure if there was a problem in the kitchen but it took 45 minutes for the food to come out
I have to say, I was pretty disappointed with my visit. My boyfriend and I drove three hours to have dinner at The Roundhouse and decided to make it a nice Valentine’s Day weekend. This was the last vacation we had planned before welcoming our new baby as well. When we arrived for our reservation the restaraunt was surprisingly empty considering the holiday. Despite that fact, we were the only people in the dining room area that were sat at a table that was far from the view (which was the main appeal for visiting) even though there were several closer tables available. I asked our server if we could move to a table by the windows and apparently the manager said the tables were “preassigned” so we wouldn’t be able to. We noticed that no guests were sat at any of the available tables that were closer to the window the whole time we were there! How ridiculous! We literally planned our vacation around this restaraunt and my boyfriend couldn’t even see the waterfall from where we were sitting! It was far too cold to enjoy the view from outside otherwise it wouldn’t be a problem. Considering how much we spent there, we should’ve definitely been accommodated. We expected to spend money there of course and the food was good. However, we still left pretty upset that we couldn’t enjoy the whole experience. Definitely not worth the trip back. I wouldn’t even recommend it to people in the area or back home. You can get the same experience at any other steakhouse when the view isn’t included.
We had a lovely evening at Roundhouse. Overall it was very good. Our drinks, first two courses, and deserts were excellent. The only miss were our entrees. I expected my filet to be melt in my mouth butter. Instead it was just a little tough. We loved the atmosphere and the view. We will definitely return to dine there again.
The pre fix was ridiculously expensive
Food was good but not worth $95 each
Really cool restaurant though...awesome to look out on the water
We went for brunch with friends whose daughter is getting married at The Roundhouse in June of 2020. It’s a beautiful restaurant, the Bloody Marys were excellent and everyone enjoyed our meals. I wish I remembered our server’s name - he was fantastic! As was the support staff. Looking forward to our next visit to try dinner!
The food was great. We loved everything we ordered. And the service was excellent.
I'm a little torn, overall I would recommend The Roundhouse to a friend; however, I think we were there on an off night. We checked in for our reservation, asked if any window seats overlooking the waterfall were available, were told that a table was being cleared and we would be sat there. We waited, watched the table be cleared, noticed some confusion at the hostess stand (a change off?) and went over to speak to the new hostess to say we had a reservation and to mention the window table. She asked who we had spoken with, said she would check on it and then we watched as another party was settled into the table we were told would be ours. The hostess apologized, said their usual person had called out and they were a little overwhelmed. She sat us at a table near the window and said when a window table became available she would have us moved and that she would love to buy us drinks or dessert on the house. We started our meal, the window table next to us cleared and we were not moved and nothing on our check reflected the miscommunication. It is a small thing, sitting one table in instead of next to the window, but the way it was handled, the general confusion and lack of communication really started the evening off on a bad foot and seeing that the hostess didn't bother to convey any notes to our waitress left me with a sour taste. We didn't need free drinks or dessert or to be moved really, but don't say you are going to do these things and then not do them.
Waited over an hour when reservations were made. Only comped 2 drinks.
Spectacular setting, exceptional food. The setting at the Roundhouse is unparalleled adjacent to a massive waterfall. The food is locally sourced and well presented. Overall an excellent establishment!
Because of res confusion on their part, we wound up in lounge with wonderful view and same menu, with super waitstaff. Quiet, before large group arrived. Food was terrific (we had been told that it was not so good) and had a very, very nice evening.
3 of us had a table celebrating a birthday. We had a reservation and arrived right on time. There was a little scramble setting up a table for us, but it was a great location near the windows. Great ambiance, great view of the falls at night. Noise level was reasonably quiet, but the dining room was not full, either. Food was excellent, but a little pricey. Our waitress was very attentive and the service was excellent. A great place for a special occasion dinner! We'll go back.
The Roundhouse exceeded expectations. The service, food, atmosphere and entire experience were exceptional. Don't miss the radishes with whipped ricotta, an unexpected delight.
Service was great food was delicious! Would definitely recommend to friends and go again !
Delicious food, wonderful beer and wine, gorgeous venue. My only quibble is that there needs to be a few vegetarian and vegan options on the entrees - the list is too meat-centric. But otherwise, really delicious!
A unique, local Hudson Valley restaurant/bar/hotel.....a reimagined factory housing
a hip restaurant and bar and amazing rooms and catering premises onsite. Stylish
throughout, and fantastic food and drink! A must stop in Beacon!
The food was delicious and expertly and creatively prepared. This place is a destination, as well as a neighborhood gem for those of us lucky enough to live close by!
The service was also wonderful, our server went above and beyond in accommodating our party and answering questions.
It was a nice experience but we had requested a window view and made our reservation a month advance but when we got there the window seats were not available. They are a little pricey considering the food was mediocre
Excellent service, amazing food accommodated our requests, wonderful view & overall ambience.
Service was so bad we left
Staff very pleasant and professional, food was great and environment scenic
Great food as always, however this winter menu isnt as good as last years. A lot of seafood and a lot of mushrooms.
The meatball appetizer was amazing. Wished the sides for some of the steak and chicken meals offered a little more variety.
Ambiance is wonderful....food not so special and prices were very high
Had trouble contacting restaurant by phone but in the end hotel took my cell phone number and they called me back immediately and were super accommodating. Beautiful location, great food, fun cocktails. Bread was slightly dry as it was individually served precut. But really a minor issue. Absolutely go here. We were seated by a window per our request, but in that location seemed like a sump pump or other mechanics was running rather loudly. Not a deal breaker but definitely ambiance disrupting.
New Year's Eve dinner for 4. Food was very good. Service was horrible. Servers were overwhelmed, poorly trained and unable to function at the level expected. A standard problem at the Roundhouse but worse than usual due to the amount of tables.
New Years eve prix fixe dinner had options for everyone... oddly - we all selected the short ribs... servers are polite but ours needed a reminder to bring the paired wine with accompanying course... not a huge matter but just a slight suggestion on perfecting service...
The service was weird. It was just...weird. The food was phenomenal! The view and ambiance are just perfect! The prices were high! So how and why did they bring me the wrong plate of food? Twice in a row? For a prix fixe? I mean, they were mildly apologetic after their initial befuddlement. But also we waited until after our appetizers came for bread. The server was gonna get us bread after our drinks came, but we waited for a long time, and had to remind her...and yet, the bread still did not come. Some other dude delivering bread to all from a bread tray finally emerged after another concerning amount of time, seemingly unrelated to our server’s promise. We’re chill people but even we got kinda impatient after a while. Later she asked us if we wanted more bread, which, again, came from a bread delivery guy a long while after her initial question...and the guy inexplicably gave one of us bread and not the other! And walked away! That was the weirdest moment of the night, and this was after twice having to awkwardly remind the people delivering my food (which were never actually our server) that I did not order what they were placing in front of me. When one is paying what we were paying for this experience, one hopes that one will receive classy, seamless service. But one will be disappointedly wrong, on this night. I also had written in a simple special request on my reservation, which went completely unacknowledged even after calling them twice, to no answer. So overall it was a delicious and very nice night hampered by weird service that kinda pulled us out of the experience. The staff were all really pleasant and the food was great and all that. But for the price I’d want less confusion and more bread. Just bring us constant bread! Both of us! What the heck!
After reading some of the reviews, I was skeptical to try this restaurant but wanted to give it a try, largely because of how it’s situated right by the falls. That was indeed the highlight, but the service and food definitely were fantastic. The lighting needs adjusting to improve the ambiance and intimacy level. The cocktail lounge was also fabulous! However the restaurant bar is too close to the dining tables so those people drinking at that bar overflowed so much that they were standing among the dining tables and were unconscious of the noise they were making next to the diners beside them. Not sure of the need for two bars.
The ambiance is great, food, not so much. I experienced the brunch menu, I imagine that the dinner menu is much better. It's a decent place to go for a beautiful view of the waterfall and perhaps drinks.
The Roundhouse was a phenomenal place where thoughtful design met a truly special location. The restaurant has nearly all the characteristics of a phenomenal destination restaurant that would draw long range visitors and post-museum or post-brewery diners. However, the menu and cocktail/wine program just doesn’t stand up. The menu served for a recent dinner felt suitable for a lunch but not special enough for the only fine dining game in town. The appetizers were under-considered and the mains lacked any defining features.
There’s no reason that the roundhouse couldn’t be a phenomenal restaurant with an overhaul to the menu and perhaps a move up-market. I’m excited to see where the place goes.
I made a reservation in late October for the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The restaurant called me hours before to inform me that the main dining room was being used for a special event. This did not give me an opportunity to make a reservation elsewhere. Very poor customer care.
NY strips cooked as we asked with great taste and juicy, excellent drinks, attentive and very pleasant waitress....add a beautiful view of the falls and you've got a great night in my book. I would totally recommend this place, especially for a romantic, quiet, dinner. Will definitely be returning.
Food was excellent! Our server could have smiled and been a little friendlier.
Fabulous interior and ambiance, and despite a long line waiting to get seated for reservations, service was elegant by our main server throughout. Unfortunately someone unceremoniously dumped the desserts at our table at the end, but otherwise we were well taken care of. Food and drinks were so-so. Some restaurants definitely skimp on restaurant week menus, and this is the impression we had here. We regretted not asking for the regular menu. Mains included cod, chicken thighs, or vegetable pasta. Dishes were brought out quickly. My cod was fine but felt like it was sitting in a tray of baked cod fillets and just plopped on the white bean ragu at time of serving. It's never a good sign when the server brings your dish out so hot that they warn you can't touch it, no idea how long it was under the warmer. The skin side was up and just looked kind of grey. The braised chicken was very tender and falling off the bone, but it too looked like it came out of a bulk preparation spooned on the plate, and it was so heavy and earthy there wasn't anything balancing that heft. I would say everything was "fine," just not up to the standard you'd expect seeing/experiencing everything else about the roundhouse. We would still go back again but wouldn't recommend this as a restaurant week destination or a good time to experience the restaurant.
Delicious and unique cocktails
Large windows look out to the waterfall. Fine dining attentive staff. Cod and free range chicken were superb. My martini was perfect. Lounge for drinks afterwards vibrant and subdued. No tv was a noticeable bonus. Great conversations very respectful crowd
Wonderful food, excellent service, and a beautiful location in Beacon! Perched over a rushing stream, this beautifully restored former cloth factory is calm and relaxed. Excellent food and really extraordinary service. We arrived early and enjoyed just hanging out in the lounge before dinner. Great for romance as well with the illuminated stream and waterfall. Will definitely return again soon!
We miss the original . Our was good and the charm of the dining room was there. It's just sad to see so few diners and we were there Restaurant week.
We went for restaurant week. Items on the menus included pasta chicken & cod. Prepared well. Flavors were good. We thought it would be a little more special. A chance for the chef to "show off".
If you care about a nice view, this is the restaurant for you. If you care about food and service, it is not.
We made a reservation on OpenTable. Once we walked in, we were seated at a table for two, immediately next to a couple who were extremely loud. Besides tables at the window, all the tables were empty and we asked to move. We were moved and had to sit next (which means literally next as the tables are very close to each other) to a group of four. Still felt like we were sharing a table with people next to us.
We asked for help with the selection, expected an enthusiastic answer. Got: you can try this or can try that; no enthusiasm, no description, just dish names. I asked for a glass of Merlot with my burger, still, the same type of answer: no Merlot, maybe try this or that. Then, the food came, no presentation, very plain, greasy burger, wet french fries.
The waiter passed by the table once with a question "everything okay" that sounded like statement. We ordered a large bottle of sparkling water, but the glasses were refilled only once - when we got the check. Stayed thirsty because the waiter was MIA all the time.
On the way out, I saw her having a pleasant conversation with maitre d. I previously saw all waiters having a fun conversation behind the bar counter and laughing happily - I stopped by to ask where the restroom is and had to wait until one of them paid attention as they were all very engaged in their conversation. People left from the table next to us and it remained uncleaned until half an hour later. Obviously, the staff there is very happy and relaxed. No management in sight. The restaurant was almost empty on a weekend afternoon; only tables at windows and ours were occupied; I think I know why.
I think their staff could use some of their spare time to take care of their visitors. Not a good experience that you would expect of this type of restaurant. Unless you do not care about the service, I would not go there.
