The view was great! The atmosphere was nice, very cute for a date, birthday or nice occasion. The food was not bad, but not as Good as I thought it might be? Their sauces with the potatoes basket was really good though! The staff were really nice too!
I suppose I am a snob having lived in the city for 15 years and having been spoiled by the amazing food there. Ambiance was nice, food was ok, but not refined as if a young student had just graduated from the Culinary Institute.
Friendly Smiling Staff , Great. Atmosphere, excellent food
I love the Roundhouse, between the amazing use of environmental ambiance, excellent service and wonderfully local menu items; it is a must for a super romantic, fun experience
This was pretty ordinary unfortunately. Not terrible just a little disappointing as I was really looking forward to it.
Beautiful space. Food was meh and service was awful. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.
The view from the restaurant is stunning. The food was fine but nothing special. And the wait time was excessive.
Nice patio seating... After we ordered, they brought food very fast...Lots of waiters...
It was a warm humid evening in Beacon. We originally thought we wanted
To be seated outside but because of of humidity we chose to be seated inside.
The view of the falls was great and the restaurant was quiet. The food was was
Excellent for all four of us and we had a great time.
They don’t take reservations for the outdoor area. When I made our reservation I requested an outdoor table and didn’t find out that’s not possible until we showed up. So if you want to be out by the waterfall just know that. I wish this had been noted somewhere, because the outdoor dining area is a special feature of this restaurant. Otherwise service was great, food was fine.
Great cocktails and solid food. You’re paying higher prices for the ambiance/view. That being said, I’d still go back for a romantic special occasion.
Service need improvement our waitress need a day off
Good was ok
Ate outside on patio. Delightful meal with nicely prepared food. Wonderful setting for summer dinner.
The restaurant is highly rated on a variety of lists so we chose it for our destination while vacationing in the area and made a Saturday night reservation. When we arrived, all of the "action" was on the patio overlooking the water, but we were told that the wait would be 40 minutes and we could be seated inside. When seated, the server was not knowledgeable about the wine list and did not offer to bring over someone else who could help us. We wanted a bottle of white and red, and when it turned out that the white we ordered was not available, she asked if we wanted two bottles of the red. It took quite a while for the appetizers to arrive and minutes after they did, the main courses arrive. We said that we weren't ready for them and the person delivering them retreated. The manager came an apologized and said that they would not be reheated and made from scratch. Our server came over minutes later to say that they weren't ours to begin with, that she had written down the incorrect number for our table. When the main courses were delivered it was hard for the person to navigate the table because we still had the appetizer plates on our table. ...nothing had been cleared. Two of the dishes, pasta and salmon, had the appearances of having been warmed up. If not, then poorly cooked as the salmon was dry and the top pasta was rubbery. When it came time for coffee, once more the table wasn't cleared so there were bread plates, etc. stren around the table. Much of the food was good, the service was friendly....but certainly did not meet the level of reviews.
Great location right on the water with amazing views
Great staff and great food & drinks paired with a gorgeous venue equals an awesome night.
My partner and I had dinner on the patio. The drinks were amazing, the food delicious, and the people watching was top notch! The falls made it such a special evening, just mesmerizing. Will be back next time in town.
Overall everything was very nice and staff was friendly and proficient. My caveats were in the timing of the meal and having the wrong dishes brought out to our table. It took a long time for the bottle of wine to be presented. Our appetizer came out (scallops which were delicious—nicely executed with great structure), and almost immediately after (within 3 minutes) our entrees were on the table. That aside all else was quite nice.
This is a beautiful spot, overlooking the water falls. The place is beautiful without being pretentious and the outdoor patio is wonderful!! The service was really really great. The wines were delicious. The only problem we had was with the main course - it was a rib eye steak and it was sub-par, fatty, tough and tasteless. It was disappointing, but the manager was very responsive and we will come back and try another dish.
Our waitress tried her best, so it’s not a reflection on her. She was pleasant but clearly didn’t have the kind of training from a manager with a front of the house background. The service mirrored more of a diner than what you would expect from the menu + cost. Typically when you order a cheese board, the person delivering the food would walk you through what you are about to eat, but not here. The grounds and hotel are beautiful, though service overall is not high end, so if you’re expecting the cost of the food to equal experience - spend your money elsewhere.
Risotto was so salty it was inedible. Peppers were soggy. Steak was over cooked. Two appetizers, two entrees and two drinks was $200.
Great service and the food was amazing! Everything tasted great. Will be back for sure
Somewhat disappointed with brunch on Sunday - I had Eggs Benedict - came with a small salad; my husband's came with home fries - pretty sparse plates; two small eggs on what was listed as country ham - very thin slices more like taylor ham - the home fries were plain; not really much value for what we got. The food was well prepared but not outstanding. My latte was delivered having spilled (quite a bit) and there was no real attempt to put it on a dry saucer - instead my cup was dripping (I put it on a napkin and just set the soaked saucer aside). It is the lack of attention to detail that made the experience so-so. Hoping they were just having a bad day.
I was a bit upset that I specifically requested a table by the water. There was a table available but they gave it to the people in front of us who did not have a reservation. Plus I found out after the fact that they cancelled our reservation even though we showed up and gave them our names. So I think they basically decided to screw open table and not pay them. I think that is pretty low. I won't be going back again to this place.
The Roundhouse never fails to please! Wonderfully prepared food, a table by the waterfall and attentive service (despite it being very busy) are the hallmarks of this restaurant. We always enjoy ourselves.
Setting is beautiful, but if you’re a foodie don’t go here. They need to really up their game in the kitchen to equal the space and setting.
Don't go here for a special occasion and expect great service from a management perspective. The venue, vibe, server and food were very good although the customer service needs huge improvement.
It started by trying to make this evening special for my parents 50th wedding anniversary, and having a great dinner inside on a Saturday night.
I tried calling the restaurant 5x different times, leaving a message each time. No calls back; all to their voicemail.
When I finally got a hold of someone they suggested I talk to the Hotel manager. So I finally did after another call and explained that I would like to see if they could do something special for them, wether it be table location, a simple dessert gesture or at least a special greeting from the server. She mentioned "Oh you will be very VIP that night". This was really not the case at all.
No mention, no special table, no special items on the menu, nothing.
The Roundhouse you have a great venue, and menu; please make other visits a bit more special for your guests. The simple things really go a long way and make you want to come back.
Our waitress was very pleasant. Even laughed at all my husbands jokes. We were celebrating our 28th anniversary and very happy to have chosen the Roundhouse to enjoy dinner.
You can't beat Roundhouse for their food , drinks, décor and the spectacular view. Brunch is especially nice, and during the summer they have a well-appointed outdoor deck available as well as indoor seating-- all with a great view of the waterfall. Food is really exceptional . We are happy to drive 30 minutes to eat here!
We were running a few minutes late and I was so grateful they kept our reservation and seated us right away when we got there. The wait staff was all very friendly, but everything was very slow. It was busy and the patio was packed, so I understand. The food was really underwhelming unfortunately. The cheese plate was some store bought crackers and three mediocre hard cheeses even though the server said it would be Brie, goat cheese and a cheddar. I ordered the salmon over squid ink risotto. I asked for the salmon rare and it was extremely well done. The risotto was cold and gloopy. Beautiful views and beautiful ambiance but would not go back.
Food was delicious, servers were friendly and attentive and the views speak for itself!
My husband and I came here for a fancy dinner for our first wedding anniversary. This place has the potential to be a world class restaurant however it lacks a few very key ingredients. The space itself is beautiful. And at first we were blown away by the view of the sunset sky and the water fall right outside the floor to ceiling windows. However we were surprised to see how empty it was on a Fri night. The too bright of lighting and music that didn’t fit the space both seemed strange and distractingly annoying. Service was friendly but lacked the sophistication of the space, and somehow for having been a nearly empty restaurant our drinks which were severely lack luster took far too long to come out, not until after our appetizers arrived and our server apologized several times. The food itself, the steak frites and lobster roll, were very forgettable, except for he memory or a very dry lobster roll in my mouth. Servers started going around moving all the tables and queeking them across the floor as we were eating, which should never happen at a fine restaurant while guests are enjoying their meals. Overall I have to say, we came in very excited to have a fine dining experience and left quite unsatisfied with our experience. A new chef, and GM seem to be needed in order to whip this place into shape and really make it into what it has the potential to be, a five star restaurant that people travel from all around to dine and have a memorable experience.
Food was great. View was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Nice place but stingy portion sizes
Very poorly managed. Have eaten here several times. Food is fine for the area, but about half of the time service is mediocre, and more than once it has been an utter disaster. Most recently went for my father's birthday and we had to leave after waiting for entrees for 2+ hours. Giving up on them for good.
Our party of five ate at The Roundhouse on Saturday 6/1. We were seated by 7:15; by 9:10 we still had not gotten any food other than a "snack" portion of sliced radishes. I want to stress that it was NOT THE FAULT OF OUR SERVER, who was extremely apologetic and nice but could not do anything to help the food arrive. They told us they had gotten "backed up" and "slammed" - that was the explanation for the delay. But a high-quality restaurant is meant to manage that, right? After we finally finished our main course (at about 10:30) we asked to speak with the manager, who was also, belatedly, apologetic; he did discount our bill, which was courteous. We don't know if the chef called in sick, or if an oven was not working, etc, but getting "backed up" is not an acceptable excuse for this sort of delay.
Aside from the excruciating slowness, the service was professional and polite, and the food - when it finally arrived - was delicious!
We have eaten at The Roundhouse two or three times in the past without this negative experience, and it's a beautiful place in a spectacular location, so we will try again and continue to recommend it unless there are further problems.
The service was abysmally slow and the server spilled water all over the table when he went to pour my water. I had to ask multiple times for a replacement cup (which he had taken away) and new napkins. The food was delicious, but it was 40 minutes before we even got the pre-food bread. The staff seemed exhausted. We had planned to get a desert too, but weren't even offered a desert menu because everything had taken so long that they were closing up shop by the time we finished our entree.
Food is just bad. Do NOT get the lobster roll. With about two bites of lobster it’s a ripoff. The accompanying chips tasted stale and terrible. I have never had a chip I didn’t eat. After lunch there I had to go get something to eat.
Superb setting, with the very best service and food. Love it there!
Could not have been worse. 1 and 1/2 hours after our dinner reservation time, we were served: stale bread (“I’ll see if there is any left”), chewy cold meat instead of steak, barely edible food, all arriving at different times. Do not go there. View is amazing but the place is understaffed and there is, overall, terrible food quality. Server kept apologising. We were not charged for food (as an apology) but were indeed charged for a bottle of wine. The manager was mortified, but there are no excuses for how bad this was.
