Open again. Looks beautiful. New chef, great food. Wonderful ambience.
I love the ambience of The Rotunda! This was my first return since you re-opened.
I was disappointed that we all experienced over cooked popovers. The menu items pricing has increased ALOT and not worth the value. The chicken salad was mostly a plate of mixed greens and very little chicken salad.
It was apparent the level of food quality and service has changed since you've re-opened.
It was amazing!
Fabulous lunch with Dahn as our server. Everything from the greeting at arrival to the relaxed and delicious lunch was just lovely.
Our server Anthony was the best. Gotta love those popovers with strawberry butter!!
I was so impressed with our dining experience at the Rotunda restaurant. I have been going there for over thirty years, and find it is now better than ever.
our waiter was so knowledgable and attentive. nice touch, the general manager came over to see how we were enjoying the food.
we went there for an afternoon tea but the food wasn't good at all and the price is $45 per person. the savory sandwiches are wayyy too simple (some cream cheese with thin slice of either cucumber or thin smoke salmon ), the scon is BIG and the rest are all chocolate cookies and cakes. I think $45 with those mediocre food is way too expensive.
love that vaccine proof is enforced. Love that they are back!!
I have lots of requests and they handled them all and the food was always good
Celebrating a wedding!
Just as lovely as ever! I celebrated a wonderful birthday lunch yesterday (9/12/21) and the food and service were just as amazing as the last celebration.
Beautiful venue, delicious food, attentive waiters! I love it!
We love that The Rotunda was open again and enjoyed our time there. Unfortunately, the food was not as we remembered and it was quite expensive. I sent my lunch back (Crab Melt) - there was nothing at all special about it especially for $39 and it had too much dressing. The server was happy to replace it with the shrimp & crab louie, which was good but also expensive at $40. My friend kept hers (Bucatini) but wasn't able to eat it because it had too much garlic and was too spicy. We will go back because we love the nostalgia but I hope that they are able to up their food game. Thank you.
The food was absolutely terrible especially for the price. A crab melt was COLD and the salad had minimal chicken. I usually don't writ reviews, but this experience was unacceptable and we will NOT return!!!!
As compared to many previous experiences, it took almost an hour for our main tea tray to arrive. We received our consommé after 20 min and then I had to ask for the pop over with strawberry butter several times which ended up coming out after our main tea tower food was served.
Our waiter was wonderful and I know it wasn’t his fault but the service is definitely not what it used to be.
The food and tea were just as delicious and enjoyable as prior times and we look forward to dining again soon!
+ that they actually requested to see our vaccination records!
Much better this time. AC was fixed/working and the new menu was much better.
First, let me commend you on requiring proof of covid-19 vaccines! Your service people deserve to be as guaranteed as much as possible that they are being protected! From the moment you enter the magical environment of the Rotunda room, to the end of an exceptional dining experience, it is sublime! Charlie our server was kind, efficient, attentive and warm. We had a delicious bottle of Veuve Clicquot rose to start our late lunch. My husband always has to have the truffle fries and I, the Ahi tartare. Both delicious. The tuna is always the best quality with no fibrous texture, just perfection! My husband then had the special pasta - a rich Bucatini with tender, juicy salmon. It was the only meal we had eaten that day and needed nothing more. My one, of two all time favorite places to eat in the city and no other NM restaurant can touch it!
Love the Rotunda!! Our favorite mother daughter day location.
Had a beautiful experience! Would definitely come back!
The lobster bisque is my go to at Rotunda. Their salad were all scrumptious. They are generous with the crabs, lobsters and prawns. Worth every penny.
Wonderful experience. Will be back again to experience more milestone experiences with friends and family. Thank you the Rotunda
Always a pleasure dining here. Upon returning to this all time favorite restaurant it did not disappoint. Food, service and ambience was consistently excellent.
Everything was good except how hot it was in the restaurant. I don’t know if the a/c was broken but everyone was complaining how hot it was in there.
One of my favorite spots in the City to gather friends to celebrate. This time a birthday celebration and kick-off for our trip to NYC, and just time to relish in ‘what makes SF great?’ …we’ll it’s the Rotunda and it’s lobster dish (the lobster club). It’s the best in town!!
Been here several times for tea and will continue to keep coming. As of august 2021 their air conditioning has been down which they have not notified those with reservations. Ha do known I would have cancelled because having hot tea while it’s sweltering hot under the glass dome was a bad idea. They should inform guests.
Otherwise everything else was great.
It was so incredibly hot, everyone was sweating. Our waiter was dripping sweat, as were we. It took away from the experience as we had been waiting for over a month to enjoy tea service. We felt like lobsters in a boil.
Had tea service to celebrate baby coming. Food was lack luster. It looked so special in picks but consisted of bland, dry sandwiches and pastries . Unfortunately, it did not match the magnificent ambiance. The final downside was the lack of air conditioning / air flow. We were both sweating bullets. The price ($95.00) should have been reasonable, but it was really awkward to invite my future daughter-in-law for what should have been very special— a total bomb!
Perfect spot for special occasions. The Covid revised limited menu along with the daily specials offers enough choices including many of the favs. The already high pre-pandemic prices are now higher. However the outstanding service, combined with the ambiance and those yummy popovers makes for a unique experience.
I was disappointed in the popovers and broth as they just weren’t as good as they used to be.
Been coming here for years and have enjoyed every visit. Fantastic food and service. Prices are high but that should be expected when deciding to eat at restaurant like this next to Union Square area.
Not back to form, nor an experience worth making a special stop.
Fabulous for birthdays …great view
Great lunch and tea!! Garsha the GM was so amazing!!! For some reason, our reservation was not confirmed but he was so kind throughout the process
Great place and great staff
Thanks Garsha for giving us the best experience and for being so kind about it through the whole process
Will be back!
We are vegetarian also so it was very well taken care of even last minute
The tea service was nice but the quality of the food served was not as high as before. Same tea selection, bold flavors. The tea sandwiches were dry and the bread was hard. The filling was incredibly lacking. It was such a disappointment because I was so looking forward to returning after it had reopened.
The sever was great but the greeter and hostess were very hostile!!!
Always enjoy the Rotunda. A staple when we visit SF.
Clarisse, the hostess, was extremely gracious allowing us to set up table in advance of reservation and accommodating to all our questions. Walter, our server, was delightful and handled all our needs with a smile.
My daughter and I decided to have High Tea on our vacation. Tablecloth was stained. My daughter's champagne glass wasn't clean and had to be replaced. Sandwiches were quite basic. Ham and mustard on bread seems fairly odd for a high tea. Scone was flavorless. Overall, very subpar. Definitely not of the same caliber as other high teas we have had. Would not return.
Great to be back at the Roth da in Sanfrancisco. Great service , we felt very welcomed. We had a window table with a view of Union square. The service and the food was excellent
A wonderful, and pricey, place for lunch. This is my third time at the Rotunda and they did not disappoint. The food was artfully prepared and delicious, and our waiter was sublime. This is also a great place for people watching, as you can observe all the "ladies who lunch" in their $500 ripped blue jeans and designer tennis shoes. We were also treated to a little fashion show while dining. At first I thought it was a bit strange/intrusive to have a model walk up to each table and introduce the brand she was representing, but she somehow managed to seamlessly float amongst the diners without interrupting our conversation.
