We enjoyed lunch more than we expected. Food was so nice and the service was also very nice..
Tea service is a personal favorite. Savory side was good but cake pops and garish clover cookies cheapen the experience and weren't very good.
The service is slipping... no salt and pepper shaker on table.
Food is overly priced for what you get...
Birthday treat
Me and my girlfriend went here to celebrate her getting the job she wanted. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful and the teas and food were fantastic! Would definitely come back.
Perfect place to celebrate with your girl gang. The Rotunda has all the right ingredients!
It was a beautiful day with a beautiful view. Our service was a a nice casual pace we could enjoy. Great waiters.
The best high tea in SF! Great place to celebrate a special event. Also wonderful alternative for a business meeting.
Nice friendly waiters Joe and Pam who made our luncheon experience pleasant.
Perfect in every way! Can’t wait to go beck!
Megan is an excellent server; she listens and makes certain everything is perfect every time I come in! The entire staff is fabulous and kind moreover! Love the Rotunda!
The food was pretty mediocre considering the price. Service can be slow when the place is full, because there are limited walkways for staff to get to tables (no way to cut across). Was a good experience, but wouldn't do it again. Also felt dusty and old.
Very disappointed with my visit there to celebrate my friend’s birthday. There was no mention of her birthday, no special treat (which the table next to us celebrating a birthday as well received). The menu was torn, the whole place had a shabby feel to it. I had to remind the server about bringing the sparkling wine, the soup, etc
Great service and environment. Hostess was little bit giving us attitude. But overall great service and environment. Beautiful interior and a view.
Love the popovers. Food came out very slowly and was good but not great. Excellent servers and ambiance.
I dined at The Rotunda twice while visiting Union Square last week. I dined alone both times and I found the service to be attentive and unobtrusive. My servers were patient with me while I took my time eating and drinking. I highly recommend the NMG&T, by far the best gin and tonic I’ve had to date. On my second visit, I enjoyed every bit of the afternoon tea service. Every item was prepared to perfection. Wonderful experiences all around. Thank you!
Lovely lunch w BFF with lovely cocktails and food. Beautiful setting. Incredible waitstaff. Lovely lunch with an old friend.
The tea service was not as good as I have had in previous visits. The sandwiches were apparently made in advance & kept in the refrigerator for a long time which cause the bread to be wet. The same problem with the croissants. Greatly disappointed.
It was wonderful! I go there especially for the consume' and the pop overs! Next time, I will request a booth so we can both enjoy the view.
very pleasant and friendly, food is well prepared, we will be back again
Ok so I hate to have to write another one star review but our dining experience at the rotunda really did not meet expectations.
The good: due to BART complications, we were late for our reservation but the host was SUPER accommodating and held our table for us when we called to let him know.
The bad:
For $55 dollars per person, I expected the high tea experience — the tea, food, and service quality — to be way WAY better. I could have given the food a pass because the location is so beautiful but the nail in the coffin was the service. Hands down the worst service I’ve ever had. Our server did not come by our table after we were seated for 10 minutes. After he took our order, he came back 10 minutes later having FORGOTTEN and had to ask us to remind him. We ordered a child’s meal for my daughter which came out before the tea food tower arrived. She was done and her plate cleared before the grown-ups got their food, and the server didn’t even realize what had happened. He even said: I’ll get the kids pasta out to you ASAP. When explaining the food on the tea tower our server didn’t know what some of the items were, and simply said “I don’t know what that is but it looks good!” This is is just hands down unacceptable service for such a high price point. Finally, we were overcharged for our champagne when the bill came and I had to ask a bus person to go find our sever who had gone MIA for 20 minutes after dropping off our bill in order to request the changes be made. I would NOT go back.
My advice to anyone who wants to have a high tea experience at The Rotunda would be: go to Tartine in the mission and hang out in the park instead. There you can get amazing food and an authentic SF experience for about half the cost.
I had a really good first time experience. They were very accommodating, and the tea service was amazing.
I had my sisters Birthday luncheon on Sunday & everything was top notch! Thank you!!
PS Joe, our waiter was Fabulous!
We enjoyed the Grand Afternoon Tea on a Thursday. Was not crowded at the time we went. All the food was very good. The service was good, although we were not offered tea refills. The setting is beautiful.
Pretty restaurant around iconic union square. However, seated next to a huge column, so felt very confined. Food service was adequate. Pasta was under heat lamp for too long and pappardelle clumped together. Popover had hair in it. Not great.
So nice that they were able to accommodate vegan and vegetarian! Stars are only docked as our food took a very long time to arrive and we weren’t informed as we were waiting as to why
The food was pricey and very mediocre. The chicken Milanese was nothing like a chicken Milanese but a very tough poached chicken breast. The waiter was really rude and unnecessarily rushed us. Overall it was a very poor experience and unfortunately would not return not recommend.
Date with wife!
Great place for birthday service a little slow today though
Amazing sevice and food as always!
Five stars caliber.
The service was attentive without being intrusive. The food was excellent.
The Rotunda is a special place for a special occasion due to the historic and elegant surrounds. The food is varied and nicely prepared and served.
The toasted crab sandwich was wonderful...not too much mayo and plenty of crab. As always, the popover and cup of broth start the experience like a treat. The ambiance is lovely.
This is such a gem of a place. The setting is stunning, and I feel like I've been transported back to the best days of San Francisco every time I come here. Our waiter Joe was delightful and made the experience even better. One thing I do miss, though, is the calorie counts on the menu items. This was one of the first SF restaurants to have that information, and now it's no longer included.
Getting engaged !
delicious and winded as always !
This is the go-to place for me when I want to truly enjoy a meal.
A favorite stop in San Francisco. Gorgeous room, views of Union Square. Delicious food. Kind and attentive service. It's a home run, and I'll happily return often.
My 40th birthday!!
The lobster club sandwich was much improved however the Cobb salad was disappointing
