My mom and I have been going to the Rotunda for every birthday and special occasion since I was little (I’m 26 now). This time we went to celebrate a raise/promotion I received at work. Always yummy whether we go for lunch or tea and it’s always beautiful to look at!
I love the view, vibe and location of The Rotunda. We had salmon dish and pasta dish. Both were just okay, and nothing outstanding. I would still use this place to impress guests from out of town, most likely.
We always have a wonderful experience dining here. The bread they bring around is phenomenal and the spread that comes with the bread is delicious!! The restaurant has a beautiful view out into Union Square. The natural lighting brightens up the room, making it even more beautiful and welcoming. The service and food never disappoints. We went during our anniversary and they gave us some cookies and recipe to the cookies upon our departure. The cookies were DELICIOUS!! Thanks for having us!
This is my second time here with my girl friend. The food and service was great.
The lobster club was not good as before. The bread was so cold and hard and the bacon also too hard to chew.
We had a reservation for 1:45 but got there earlier. The gentleman at the front said he would do what he could to accommodate getting us in sooner. He did and we loved our lunch!
Wonderful service and great food. The atmosphere is elegant and enjoyable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food was very good but limited menu.
A good spot to meet in the 'Shopping Area' of San Francisco/Union Square. The food was good and the service knowledgeable and reliable. Reception was particularly organized and efficient.
A good overall business experience.
Always love dining at the Rotunda. This time the service and kitchen seemed very slow. Food is always good especially the lobster options. Really fun at Christmas with the giant tree decor.
This was the best way to spend Valentine's Day ever - we went for tea. The Rotunda was, as always, calm, elegant and refined. The tea service was really perfect - the sandwiches were delicious, the sweets very very good - with heart shaped shortbread cookies to celebrate the occasion. The service was gracious, attentive and smart. I cannot recommend this venue highly enough. The perfect place to go for tea, perfectly delicious !
Used to enjoy the afternoon tea service more. Don't know if It'S because we went on Valentine's day the menu is different. But it wasn't really worth it this time. The service wasn't very good either. We never got a refill on the tea and crumbs left all over esp from the back of the menu also. Decor is awesome per usual. My parents went with us and ordered from the lunch menu, which is much better and worth the value. I would still come back because I've had better tea service before and service so the potential hopefully is still there. I'd go back one more time to give that another try. Will update with review next time!
John is the best and the service is great.
Worst service. Not worth coming back again.
While the surroundings are gorgeous and the service top-rate, but the food was a major disappointment. Our hot entrees were served cold and were quite tasteless. The dessert, on the other hand, was sensational. My advice: have lunch elsewhere, then stop by for dessert or late afternoon tea.
Went for Valentines Day lunch & it was outstanding. Loved all our food, the server was wonderful, and the setting is hard to beat.
Delicious "special of the day" cod fish. The sauce, the fish, the presentation... Delicious.
The waiter was great and they switch us to a nice banquette table when we told them it's for a birthday celebration and gave a nice birthday desert.
Wonderful dining experience! Will certainly return in the future.
One of our favorite lunch spots in San Francisco! The view is gorgeous and the service is exceptional! The popovers and lobster club are a MUST try!
The Rotunda, set in what was once the great glass dome of a bank, is one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the US. Circular and on the fourth floor of Neiman Marcus, one looks up to an ornate gold and frosted glass ceiling and down to the ground level of this elegant store. The food is good ( it’s at it glory at lunch) but it’s the lovely atmosphere that captivates. Excellent wine list and cocktails. My favorite US restaurant, many lovely memories are evoked here.
Wonderful tea service, beautiful place
We arrived on time but still need to wait a little for them to clean up the table. It took awhile for server to come and someone to pass out water and bread with strawberry cream. We requested afternoon tea, no one offer to refill our water for tea. I found a piece of lint one of the creams that was served in the afternoon tea set. There was no utensil for us to grab the tiny little desserts or mini sandwiches. We used our hands the whole time.
Wait staff was very nice/personable and diplomatically explained why there was a dog under a nearby table. Even though we are all dog lovers and I have 2 of my own, we were naturally suspicious but accepted the "house" rules.
This was a return lunch visit to celebrate a birthday. Everything was wonderful including the service. Our server was Charlie and he was great! Thanks again, we will be back! Patti
I was hosting friends from Atlanta. This was the perfect place! The glass dome is spectacular & I was able to conjure history from the old City of Paris. The food was creative and very good. Service was attentive. No one pressed us to be done, important when hosting old friends. They loved it & that was a pleasure for me. See you soon again.
The amuse bouche consomme and popover w/strawberry butter are so delicious, you can't imagine why they have been out of favor for so long. NM could dump selling Dior dresses and Bulgari jewelry, and still make a fortune just selling the popovers, LOL. Salad and French dip sammie were good, not great. Winner was the salmon: paleo with kale & squash, it was a generous portion, cooked flawlessly, and absolutely delicious. Excellent selection of wines by the glass (Rotunda is only open for lunch); had the Ruinart NV rose champagne which is a great food wine. Dessert was a yellow layer cake with mocha cream and raspberry glaze; good but again not stellar. Coffee smooth, a little weaker than we like (we drink Turkish). Outstanding service, beautiful stained glass antique skylight (made in 1908 by San Francisco's own Tiffany competitor, United Glassworks), quiet relaxing atmosphere. Window tables look out towards Union Square, very pretty during holiday season.
We went to the rotunda to enjoy "high tea". It was a little disappointing. Food was only fair, at a high price. We had pre requested gluten free tea sandwiches and were served some mini appetizers instead. Would not recommend this again. Menu was a bit " tired". Popovers still remain good, though.
The glass ceiling is a piece of art. The place is classy. The food was good and the service is exceptional. Our waiter, Charlie and his assistant Aaron were very attentive. We definitely going back.
Our service was excellent and the food (salmon on a bed of lettuce) fantastic.
Great place to drop in and grab lunch with shopping friends
