Everything was outstanding. The only issue we had was the woman’s bathroom was closed and it was not convenient to go upstairs to the 5th floor to use the restroom.
Arrived on time and our table was not ready. Ten minutes later we were seated (2 top). Chatting and excited to catch up, our waiter was pleasant. Service was casual and our food arrived hot. In the meantime my 15 year old daughter arrived earlier than expected, so we took the nearby empty chair to have her join us while we finished up our meal. Let me back track a little. My daughter asked the hostess if she can come into the restaurant to look for us, since we were not answering our phones, uncertain if we were there. The hostess denied her, so she left. At a pause, I noticed her text and told her we were still in the restaurant. Poor girl, already in a state of frustration, sat down and joined us. The table next to us was reset for the next guest, no comment on the missing chair. As the guest were being seated by the hostess, she asked for the chair back rudely. My daughter, politely stood up and gave up the chair, while we all looked at each other with a feeling of being dismissed. Note to hostess, there was an extra chair next to the table where the new guest sat. Noticing our discomfort, the hostess offered to look for a larger table with hesitancy. To minimize the stares, and the pretentious look by the hostess, my daughter volunteered to leave. Warning*** if you are not dressed with designer clothes or what not, you might feel like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman." It's San Francisco, this shouldn't be happening in our diverse and beautiful city.
Although our server, Nick was very friendly, attentive and knowledgable I would not recommend the Rotunda for lunch. My chicken breast with cauliflower couscous were awful. The very tiny dark grey chicken portion and gigantic cauliflower couscous portion tasted as if they had been cooked the day before and reheated to serve the next day when I ordered it. This meal had the taste color and texture of being leftovers and I don’t eat leftovers. Not a good thing to serve to someone who expects better from Neiman Marcus.
I didn’t what to make a fuss and send it back because I was hungry and didn’t want to cause any drama for the friend who was with me.
The Rotuda has great ambience and service. People watching is a lot of fun. For these I do recommend this restaurant. For the food I do not.
Classic and convenient when downtown. Consistent classic menu. Excellent service. Love the popovers!
I love the ambience for afternoon tea.
Here are cons and pros.
We got some hair in the food. One is from a chicken sandwitch and the other one is from a chocolate sweet piece with a rasberry on top. That was pretty gross. I wish the kitchen staff members wear hair mesh or something.
I got Jardin Bleu tea. This tasted very diluted with water. I did not taste much of the tea.
Their lady’s restroom was on a construction. We had to take an elevator to go to other one.
Service and the atmosphere were good. I love the view and the ceiling.
Their champagne that was paired with afternoon tea was pretty good.
A relaxing place to enjoy fine dining. We also enjoyed the service and the atmosphere and location!
They always take care of me and I love the service. Terrific and food was divine. High Tea is the best
The Ro is our go to fun spot! If you're celebrating a special day or just want to grab a bite while shopping, this is the place. Relax with a bottle of champagne (or two) and enjoy the view.
Great Experience, service was friendly. Food was excellent. Would definitely come again.
Our friends/business visit was perfect for our occasion. I would recommend the Rotonda experience to others.
Neiman's Rotunda is my go to restaurant for a champagne lunch!
The Rotunda is classic SF dining, however I have issue with being squeezed into a small table when a lot of 4 tops are not only available, more comfortable and more scenic especially when it is after the large noon rush. We requested and were refused☹️On the basis of being only 2 customers...at 2pm....hmmmm
Rotunda is not as good as it used to be but still is one of the acceptable choices in Union Square. This time we had the wild mushroom flatbread which was the best part of our brunch. The tuna poke was very bland (and they used to have a very good one...); the salmon was ok - the garnish was very salty...., the snapper special was very average.... Not sure what happened to all good dishes they used to serve. Many of them are still on the menu but they are not the same... sadly. It is still convenient if you are shopping in NM but certainly is not a "worth the drive" destination...
Eh ....not worth the trip or money
New menu items are exciting. Staff and service is wonderful.
Jivka is a very good addition to my favorites Linda, Jay and Charlie.
Our waitress was on a mandatory break and another waitress took her place. The replacement was obviously busy with her own customers and wasn’t really prepared to take on more. Our table next to the windows consisted of a view of construction. Some of the tea sandwiches were extraordinary and others were old and stale. Some of the tea sandwiches were extraordinary and others were old and stale. The tea was very nice and so is the champagne. The tea experience could be wonderful with just a bit more attention to detail.
Fun/ great service/ food choice
I visited The Rotunda with two friends for lunch recently. We loved the crab louis salad which is billed at just 410 calories (hard to believe) but we were surprised when it arrived untossed and with dressing on the side even though no one had requested dressing on the side. We sent it back to be tossed with the dressing but it returned tossed with dressing still on the side. Our waiter was very nice but I think it would help to get the orders straight. Also, one of my friends found a very long black hair in her popover. It was whisked away and immediately replaced...but still. The Rotunda needs to work on the details! On the plus side, it is always a pleasure to be in the lovely space with windows overlooking Union Square. We were in a booth which was good for conversation. The salad tasted great!
Service was exceedingly slow and food is over priced for value. Location is very nice
Classic “Old School” experience at the Rotunda. GO! Beautiful domed stain glass with view of union square, tet-a-tet banquets, and a fabulous popover with strawberry butter served with every entree. And it’s quiet enough for conversation, a rarity these days.
Best high tea in San Francisco!
Best food, best service! Great place for special occasions. Also have enjoyed meaningful business discussions over afternoon tea.The staff takes care to make every occasion special. Can't wait for my next visit!
Wonderful place to see and be seen above Union Square. Gracious service with delicious food.
I was disappointed that woman restroom is closed at the restaurant. I had to be escorted to fifth floor since the store was not open at the time
We had a wonderful time celebrating my daughter’s birthday with high tea!
Birthday and Day in the city for MOIC!!!
Had high tea here, I'm not sure why people complain about the amount of food because me and my friend felt like it was more than plenty. We even took some of it home. Very enjoyable experience recommended for those special celebrations.
One beautiful hour spent there, the ambient and fabulous food
It's a great place to enjoy the view, the ambience and the amazing service. It's a personal struggle for me as I enjoy much simpler foods. A few vegetarian dishes that are a little simpler would be great - flatbreads, hummus, pizza, pastas, etc.
Went for a lunch with my husband. Chicken broth was fragran, popover hot out of oven, lobster roll delicious, and my husband he pt coming for my chicken Milanese. Everything served is delicious! Servers were attentive but not too over whelming and the ambiance great for a relaxing stop after the shopping. Highly recommended!
My mom and I have been going to the Rotunda for every birthday and special occasion since I was little (I’m 26 now). This time we went to celebrate a raise/promotion I received at work. Always yummy whether we go for lunch or tea and it’s always beautiful to look at!
The best restaurant for lunch/ high tea . Always impressed b the food, service and atmosphere!
I love the view, vibe and location of The Rotunda. We had salmon dish and pasta dish. Both were just okay, and nothing outstanding. I would still use this place to impress guests from out of town, most likely.
We always have a wonderful experience dining here. The bread they bring around is phenomenal and the spread that comes with the bread is delicious!! The restaurant has a beautiful view out into Union Square. The natural lighting brightens up the room, making it even more beautiful and welcoming. The service and food never disappoints. We went during our anniversary and they gave us some cookies and recipe to the cookies upon our departure. The cookies were DELICIOUS!! Thanks for having us!
While the ambience is always the absolute BEST, I feel the food quality has gone downhill from prior visits. We had the lobster club on a previous occasion and I remember it as a big hearty sandwich , filled with chunks of lobster, now it’s like a shredded “lobster salad”. Needless to say the food was disappointing 🙁
This is my second time here with my girl friend. The food and service was great.
Bridal shower for 4
The lobster club was not good as before. The bread was so cold and hard and the bacon also too hard to chew.
We had a reservation for 1:45 but got there earlier. The gentleman at the front said he would do what he could to accommodate getting us in sooner. He did and we loved our lunch!
Wonderful service and great food. The atmosphere is elegant and enjoyable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food was very good but limited menu.
